The Sushi Bar OK Nov 19, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I came to know of The Sushi Bar from my friend and had wanted to try it when it was still located at Level 3, FEP. Back then , there was no GST but the queue was crazy. We decided that we didnt like chirashi so much to queue too long and so I had never tried it until recently and now they charge GST. This means the business has hit the $1millon revenue target, congratulations!

Still needs to queue but the new place at Level 4 is much bigger, so hopefully you dont have to wait that long. Anyway, it was also by chance that I ended up first in queue when I dropped by on a weekday. My friend and I wanted to have early lunch and so we reached there at about 1130am. Only then I knew that the place open at 12pm. Called it blessing in disguise, the queue built up not long after I stood outside the shop.

They do allow reservation but you must make the reservation 1 week in advance. Alternatively, 'tabao' is another option to skip the queue, just order and pack away.

Most people will order the chirashi don which seems to be their signature dish? It comes in 3 type:

Basic Chirashi Don - Salmon/Tuna/Hamachi/Tobiko - $19.90

Normal Chirashi Don - Salmon/Tuna/Hamachi/Scallop/Ikura/Mekaigiki - $24.90

Premium Chirashi Don - Mixed Shashimi -$62.90

We ordered the Normal Chirashi Don which in my opinion, most worthwhile. The premium one is definitely out of my reach, I cant imagine spending over $60+ for a lunch and only one item lor. Anyway, the normal chirashi is good enough for me. The fish slices were super thick & fresh, so quite shiok to eat. There was quite a variety of fish types, but seriously, I didnt know what I was eating except for salmon and tuna. Lol

Song Kee Fish Ball Noodle OK Nov 19, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Noodles

$4 - Small (Top Picture)

$5 - Additional noodles

$6 - Additional ingredient (Bottom Picture)

We compared hubby's $6 bowl with my $4 one, the difference will be extra 2 big ball which tasted like meat and mushroom balls. This means it's $1 for each 'meatball'. Gosh, there was quite expensive.

Price aside, I do admit the noodles itself was pretty springy, least it didnt clog together like some other places. The fishball was definitely good, made purely with fish, which means more bouncy fishballs.

If you dont mind making your way for just fishball noodles, I suggest coming here earlier like 6 plus? Coming later at dinner time was a bad experience, we had to wait for more than 30mins and we finished the noodles in like 5 minutes? Definitely not worth the wait. *Shrugged*

Xmas Eve Dinner at The Ship OK Dec 25, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Seafood | Steaks and Grills

This year xmas eve I spent with my family and we decided to go nearby our house for just a cozy dinner. Glad that we managed to get a table for 6 even though we made the reservation only just monday amid the festive period.

We ordered a mixture of the ongoing Lobster promotion & The Christmas Eve set, which both came with a soup, choice of main course, dessert and coffee/tea. Pricing wise was $40.90 and $36.90 respectively. Considered quite economical, especially during the festive period where most restaurants will introduce their Xmas set at quite hefty pricing.

Prawn Bisque Soup

Super "gao" soup, totally can taste the prawn!

Christmas Combination (made up of turkey, ham with cranberry sauce)

This was okay although I think the presentation should be much better. However for those who are lazy... dun worry, all the meat were sliced nicely for you! Haha

1/2 lobster with ribeye steak

I'm surprised of how the meaty is the lobster and the ribeye steak was good!

Sticky Date Pudding

Ooo.. we liked this dessert. It was served warm with caramel sauce (i think) with just enuff sweetness to end the dinner.

Pre Xmas Gathering! OK Dec 25, 2013
Categories : American | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

First time visit here this "new kid" at Vivocity with my gals for our xmas gathering. Since this was our first time here, we ordered the platters for sharing.

Condiments (from left to right): Beetroot, Mustard and Sweet Onions

Loved the sweet onions so much! It seemed to go well with anything and we loved it so much that we finished the first bottle and asked for a refill =p

Full Slab of Smoked BBQ U.S. Baby Back Ribs - $42

Mixed Seafood Grill - $52

Both platters were okay, with the preference for the mixed seafood which came with 4 succulents big prawn, grilled sotong and salmon. The only complain we got was the serving was too tiny for the price.

Good deal!  OK Dec 23, 2013

Categories : Chinese Soup

Ordered 2 dishes and get a free soup with OCBC credit card. Real neat! Luv free stuff!

Cost me about $33 for a meal for 2 for all these, which included the signature steamed chicken, sweet potato leaves and of coz the free soup.

Simply adored the garlic sauce which completed the yummy steamed chicken. This was probably the only time that I will eat ginger, in big spoonful!
