Pince & Pints Smile Nov 19, 2014
Categories : American | Bars/Lounges | Seafood

I wanted to visit Pince & Pints since its opening; there were so many blog posts and Instagram pictures raving about it! And finally, I seized the opportunity to "ka-doh" my hubby to give me a treat on my birthday which was 2 months ago.

No reservations allowed and my hubby was there earlier to queue slightly before 6pm (dinner time starts at 5pm on weekday). He couldn't go in and chop a seat first as the staff only allow entering when everyone was present. I reached at about 615pm and still we got to wait till close to 7pm before we managed to get a table.

I reckon best to come either very early or very late, otherwise be prepared to wait. I will love to bring my parents but the wait sure can kill. It was pretty hot & tiring to stand at the corridor while waiting for a table lor.... Hopefully by now, either the restaurant has expanded to a bigger seating area or the crowd has became more manageable?

Menu is simple - Lobster of coz! 3 varieties all at $48++

The Lobster Roll

Super meaty lobster, shelled and stuffed into the bread. Great for ladies, and even guys, who dont want to get their hands dirty. Completed with fat fries and salad.

Live Whole Lobster

Choose between grilled and steamed, and I chosen the former. One word -> shiok!

The feeling of eating lobster in chunks, and I meant, big chunks was simply shiok. And you felt so blissful that after eating so much, there was still so much remaining... ^____________^ Big grin literally.

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I chanced upon Ootoya, because in comparison with the other Japanese restaurants at Orchard Central, it seemed to be more fairly priced for normal income people like me.

The food menu comes with lotza pretty photographs that you are simply spolit for choices, dunno what to choose! And ya for big eater, they also give free top-up of rice... Really cool!

Our orders:

Side dish including mushrooms, prawns and lotus root

Grilled fish

Charcoal Grilled Pork

Weekday Hi Tea Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | High Tea | Buffet

Rose Veranda offers a classy ambience with comfortable armchairs and a less crowdy setting, yet with a reasonable spread. It offers more of hi tea spread with a choice of 120 teas. Definitely great for gals gathering, whereby you can chit chat over cups of tea with nice savories and desserts. You can just eat leisurely (Weekday Hi Tea from 11.30 - 6pm) without the need to "choke" yourself with food.

The spread:

Sashimi & Sushi

Chicken with Mango

I kind of like this dish, the chicken was tender and it was cooked with my favourite food => Mango!

Seafood in Creamy Sauce

This was another great dish. The prawns, squids and big mussels totally soaked up the creamy sauce, without being too overwhelming. Really nice.

Spanish Quinch

One of my fav here.. Really like the crust, baked to perfection!

******

How can we miss out desserts? I loved to go buffet, hi-tea during xmas seasons because that's when the dessert spread looks especially pretty with all the xmas-y log cakes and tarts.. Hee

Brownies, Log Cakes, Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Fondue

Nonya Kuek

BBQ Meat! Smile Nov 27, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

The place is rather small, with simple setup. They do have alfresco dining, which in short, sit outside with no air con lah... Keke.

They have ala carte selection as well as set menu. Being the first time there, we decided to go for the set menu, which is already a handful to choose from.

Beef Stew

Ooo.. I love this! The meat, the potato and the carrot all tasted sweet and soft. It was soooo good, I tell you! They simply fell apart in the mouth, revealing a sweet taste that teased you for more.

Shitake Mushroom

I love the mushroom, which came in nice sweet sauce. But do note that you dun want to overdose the mushroom with the sweet sauce. I did that on my second visit, and the mushroom became too sweet.. -_-"

Egg Soup

Just a simple bowl of egg soup, which contained seaweed, egg and bean sprouts for 2 to share.

Wagyu Beef (Extra order)

Tenderloin

The beef was of coz good! With minimal seasoning, the beef was naturally sweet and tender

Overall, it was a good and satisfying meal. Price wise, it is about $40 - $50 per pax (with no extra order). Slightly on the higher end, but it's just a premium for a more comfortable eating environment. Least the table are big enuff to display all the items and the ventilation is fairly okay ~ you dun stink so much as compared to other grill places.

A surprisingly good meal!  Smile Nov 03, 2013

Finding the location was a challenge because the entrance was really not outstanding! We were looking out for a typical restaurant, you know, big glass panels that allow you to see the tables & chairs to suggest that it is a restaurant. Here, there is only broad brown door with a subtle name label on the side. We would have missed this restaurant walking down craig road if we had not known of the address through Restaurant Week.

The setting here is consistent with its restaurant front, a warm down-to-earth brown/black unpretentious scheme that almost seem a bit too uninteresting. Though, the good and friendly service by the staff did make us felt at home.

Out of the 3 course dinner, my favourite was the dessert (although the appetizer and the main were good too!)...

French Toast with Sabayon & Vanilla Icecream

The bitter taste of the rum sabayon (the yellow creamy sauce) was complemented by the sweetness of the french toast & vanilla icecream. A very flavorful combination with added twist of the popcorn bits. We finished it anyway even though we just had a staple food (risotto)!
