New Lucky Claypot Smile Nov 29, 2014

There is a choice of Claypot Wu Wei Rice, Claypot Chinese Sausage Rice and Claypot Chicken Rice. As recommended by the stall owner, we chosen the Claypot Wu Wei Rice, essentially an assortment of chicken, chinese sausage, mushroom and salted fish.

For $10 (size for 2 pax), we got a reasonable portion of at least 2 - 3 servings per pax. The chicken was rather tender & meaty and the rice was fragrant, cant helped but continued with the next serving. Keke

I dun really know any good claypot rice places (tell me if you do ^_^), but I thought this is pretty good to warrant the next visit!

Paris Baguette Smile Nov 29, 2014

It sells all sorts of pretty food from cakes, sandwiches to all day brunch. Pardon me, it was really an impromptu visit and I promise to do the food "justice" by visiting it again with a proper camera. =p

It's probably confusing at your first visit, at least for me. We stood at the entrance for a good few minutes, waiting to be served but who knows, it is a free seating and self ordering concept cafe. So just go in, find yourself a seat and then go to the counter to make your order and pay at the cashier.

As we just had dinner, we ordered a cake (On-My Baby Crepe $8) and a pudding (Chocolate - $4.50) to share. Yup, the pudding was served in a milk bottle alike container, cute right?

The cake was pretty interesting with layers of crepe, strawberries, sponge cake and cream. But I must say, the cakes are rather expensive, $7.50 is the cheapest? Not your daily bakery to go, I guess....

On the other hand, the pudding was simply divine, must try! ^_^ The texture was almost like eating flavored cream. I started off eating the chocolate part, before I moved on to the original. Both were good on its own. As I dipped the spoon deeper, to my delight, there was brown sugar/caramel at the bottom, which gave a very nice caramelized taste. With every spoonful, there were different "surprise". =)

The royal pudding seems to be the popular item here! I saw most of the diners ordered this.

Anyway, I liked it so much that I bought 3 more bottles home. Among the three, I liked the chocolate best, followed by mango and original flavour.

Yummy! ^_^

Restaurant Week: Fordham & Grand Smile Nov 29, 2014

Salmon Tartar

Appetizer was beautiful. The salmon was firm and plentiful. It was almost as good as a main course itself.

Green Pea Risotto

Even though it says green pea risotto, it didn't taste anything like green pea although the idea of having green coloured rice was rather refreshing. The zucchini was fried crispy with slight tinge of natural sweetness from the vegetable. Surprisingly, I was pretty satisfied with my main course, even with no meat in sight Something different from my usual fare, and likely to be more healthy! Keke

French Toast with Sabayon & Vanilla Icecream

We really loved the dessert, in fact, my favourite dish among the 3! The bitter taste of the rum sabayon (the yellow creamy sauce) was complemented by the sweetness of the french toast & vanilla icecream. A very flavorful combination with added twist of the popcorn bits. We finished it anyway even though we just had a staple food (risotto)!

Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here and love to re-visit for the lobster linguini! ^_^

kinki Smile Nov 29, 2014

The name very funny hor...sound like kinky...so kinky... Oh man, it's like a rhythm. I wonder is it a Japanese word? But one look at all the animation on the wall, you will know it's a Japanese restaurant, no doubt.

Be tempted by the eye-feasting seafood sashimi!

But the sashimi very expensive, so we didnt order. SOBZ >.<

The staff so bad, made us sit at the counter and droolz at the sashimi.... Nevermind, my orders were good also, okay?

Foie Gras & Scallop Sushi - $22

The eyes brightened up on sight of the generous portion of foie gras and meaty scallop. The tiny rice roll can barely 'support' the weight lor. Thumb up for this!

Beef Teriyaki - $24

Dont be put off by the "bloody" scene, must be my camera and the not so bright lightings. This was really tender and juicy.

Kinki Okonomiyaki - $26

The first two dishes were good but not filling. We browsed through the menu, looking for something that can be filling and still affordable, and ended up with okonmiyaki.

Overall, we really enjoyed the food, with creative item such as the Foie Gras & Scallop Sushi. However, the pricing was kinda steep (we spent close to $100 for 3 items), even the hot ocha cost $4 per pax.

Guess I will probably save the place for treats on special days. Not to forget if you are seated near to the windows, you will get a good view of the Singapore River as well. =)

Fix Smile Nov 29, 2014

Run by the same amazing peeps from Grub, we have now another alfresco dining option to 'fix' our cravings! Unlike Grub, the whole place is open concept, meaning no air con hor. Luckily, we came when it just rained, so least there was still some breeze. =p

The place is just next to the pool, so technically, it's a pool side dining! Heehee #cheapthrill

Pretty desserts that I have yet to try coz I was too full. Well, saving it for the next visit!

Our brunch looking colourful & chirpy! What a great way to start the date!

Chicken Tikka Naanwich - $10

This is rather an unique item to find in a western cafe's menu. It has Indian nann & chicken tandoori, japanese ramen style runny egg, coupled with marinated cucumber. Oh right, dont forget the cup of nacho with cheese to add on to the intriguing combination. All these for just $10+? Wow.

Donut (Choose from Salted Egg or Lemon Custard dip) - $7

A different version of your normal salted egg bun dim sum. The little donut was served warm and the size was just nice to pop right into the mouth. Very addictive indeed!

I dont know whether it will taste as nice when leave to cool. But.... but, why should you not gobble it down huh? Keke
