Barcook Bakery Smile Dec 12, 2013

Apparently, the signature bread is this raisin cream bun, which cost merely at $1.30. Looked kinda normal bread huh?

You are so wrong!!!

Inside the plain looking bread, there are raisins and yummy cheese cream!

If I'm not wrong, Breadtalk also sells something like this, but I always find the cheese too thick and doesnt really goes well with the bread.

But the one at Barcook Bakery, the cheese complements the soft bread so well. You just cant stop eating it until you finish the whole bread. And if you are eating this when it just came out of the oven, it was so OMG! The cheese was oozing out... OMG OMG OMG..

No wonder, people are buying in bulk for this.. You must really try this... no regrets...

One of my fav dim sum place Smile Dec 12, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Chinese | Hotel | Dim Sum | Seafood

Inside Royal Place

The place is not exactly big, but it's comfortable. I particularly like its posh setting in its blue and white simplicity. This is definitely a contrast to the traditional dim sum Chinese restaurants which are usually in red and probably come with dragons pillars.

You cant find rowdiness, as everyone dine in class here. Again, something different from traditional Chinese restaurants where waiters shout to the kitchen, or customers chatting away over the little small things, sometimes a tad too loud. It's totally a different ambiance, so it's all up to your own preference.

Century Egg Porridge - $5

The porridge was the typical Cantonese style, thick and rich with so much sweetness that I was suspecting that the chef had secretly threw in rock sugar! Haha

At $5, the portion was generous, probably sufficient to share with 2 or 3 pax. Well, you dun want to miss out other goodies by stuffing your stomach with porridge, rite?

Barbequed Pork Puffs - $5.60 ( 4pcs)

Before I go on, most of the dim sums come in 3 pcs. Then again, you can just tell the staff that you need more to suit your group size and you will be charge accordingly. In my case, we had 4 pax, so by doing so, we dun have to order 2 plates of 3 pcs. Thumbs up for the flexibility.

Ok, back to the food!

The puff was soft and flaky, which easily broke apart when you bite into it, revealing the sweet cha siew. Nice one!

Barbequed Pork Buns - $4.80 ( 4pcs)

I'm a sucker for Cha Siew Bao aka barbequed pork buns! I especially like the bao itself, which was really soft and came with a tad of sweetness. Totally a different story from the factory-made bao sold at the kopitiam. If it is not that filling, I probably finish one basket myself... hehe

Custard Bun - $5.60 ( 4 pcs)

This is a must-order if you adore custard bun. The custard was mixed with salty egg yolk, which helped to heighten the flavour. Different from the custard bun I tried elsewhere, and definitely a pleasant surprise. Even my bf who is not a fan of custard bun, said that it was quite good.

Big Prawn Mee! Smile Nov 30, 2013
Categories : Coffeeshop | Noodles

When I go East Coast park for blading, cycling etc. I will usually past by Beach Road Prawn Mee shop, which appears to be closed all the time. Seriously, are they ever open for business?

One fine day on a weekend afternoon, we decided to make a special trip down to the shop. I dun believe it can "escape" from me! I must eat the prawn mee by hook or by crook!

We ordered the Prawn Mee with Pork Ribs, medium size, which is priced at $8.80. The soup was GOOD! So tasty that I drank finished the whole bowl. The pork was very soft, and easily fell off from the bones. The main ingredient ~> prawn was succulent and fresh. A pity there were only 2 prawns. Too little for me to feel satisfying! Hahaha

Big prawns!

I noticed that the prawns served in medium size and small size were different. The prawns in medium size are supposed to be the better ones.

Total cost for the lunch was $20 for 2. It seemed a little bit expensive for hawker type of food, but I think it was worth it! The next time, I will go for all prawns medium size instead.

A great deal! Smile Nov 27, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

On a normal day when we were not exactly feeling starving at all, we ended up ordering a $59 set for 2. It was such a great deal that we just cannot missed!

The set consisted of the following:

Salmon Sashimi

Beef Steak Cubes

Chicken Karaage

Salad

Sukiyaki Nabe

Tempura Ebi

Saba Hiraki

See? So much for just $59. If you were me, you would be tempted as well right?

The best part ~ there's no catch at all. You must be thinking this is only offered on weekday during those damn weird hours. Wrong lor, I went to Orchard Ion ~ Watami on a Saturday noon when there's sure to be lunch crowd whether there is promotion or not. I really wonder how much is the profit margin for this set. Keke

Super nice icecream! Smile Nov 27, 2013

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Cold Stone Creamery is definitely one of the top few ice-cream franchise that I always frequent.

We can choose from the signature creations or mix & match yourself! To save the trouble, we usually ordered the in-house creations.

The signature creations are priced at $5.50 for 4 oz (smallest size), and $1 top-up for the waffle bowl.

Banana Caramel Crunch
French Vanilla Ice Cream, Roasted Almonds,
Banana & Caramel

I tried both Banana Caramel Crunch & Coffee Lovers, both I like! So my conclusion is, any creations with roasted almonds & caramel must be good.

Cheesecake Fantasy was a tad sour for my liking, so I polly will give cheesecake icecream a miss next time... erm, forever. Keke

Germanchökolätekäke was okay, but lacked the crunchiness from roasted almonds, but still a hit for chocolate lovers.
