I like the ambiance, the staff are friendly and helpful and most importantly, I love the food and the desserts!

Portobello Mushroom Soup

I'm sure they use 100% real ingredients here... They must have blended a lot of mushrooms to come up with this. It feels almost like eating mushroom rather than drinking mushroom soup! Haha..

It was good but it was too thick for me to drink a lot, but my bf liked and he finished it. And hor, drink the soup while it is still hot, coz it wont be nice if the soup is cold and lumpy ( coz thick mah).

Chicken Rossa

This was a simple pasta with mushroom, chicken and cheese... But, it was so YUMMY! The chef was generous with the ingredients, lotza chicken and mushroom to go with the penne in every spoonful.

Double Chocolate Cake

This is a MUST-TRY! "Awfully chocolate" ( erm, dun think there is copy right for using this term right? =p) and absolutely sinful!

The chocolate cake is warm & moist, the chocolate sauce is thick & dark, and the icecream is sweet & milky. They complement each other perfectly! ^_^

Weekday Hi Tea Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | High Tea | Buffet

Rose Veranda offers a classy ambience with comfortable armchairs and a less crowdy setting, yet with a reasonable spread. It offers more of hi tea spread with a choice of 120 teas. Definitely great for gals gathering, whereby you can chit chat over cups of tea with nice savories and desserts. You can just eat leisurely (Weekday Hi Tea from 11.30 - 6pm) without the need to "choke" yourself with food.

The spread:

Sashimi & Sushi

Chicken with Mango

I kind of like this dish, the chicken was tender and it was cooked with my favourite food => Mango!

Seafood in Creamy Sauce

This was another great dish. The prawns, squids and big mussels totally soaked up the creamy sauce, without being too overwhelming. Really nice.

Spanish Quinch

One of my fav here.. Really like the crust, baked to perfection!

******

How can we miss out desserts? I loved to go buffet, hi-tea during xmas seasons because that's when the dessert spread looks especially pretty with all the xmas-y log cakes and tarts.. Hee

Brownies, Log Cakes, Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Fondue

Nonya Kuek

Be tempted by the eye-feasting seafood sashimi!

But the sashimi very expensive, so we didnt order. SOBZ >.<

Nevermind, my orders were good also, okay?

Foie Gras & Scallop Sushi - $22

The eyes brightened up on sight of the generous portion of foie gras and meaty scallop. The tiny rice roll can barely 'support' the weight lor. Thumb up for this!

Beef Teriyaki - $24

Dont be put off by the "bloody" scene, must be my camera and the not so bright lightings. This was really tender and juicy.

Kinki Okonomiyaki - $26

The first two dishes were good but not filling. We browsed through the menu, looking for something that can be filling and still affordable, and ended up with okonmiyaki.

Overall, we really enjoyed the food, with creative item such as the Foie Gras & Scallop Sushi. However, the pricing was kinda steep (we spent close to $100 for 3 items), even the hot ocha cost $4 per pax.

Guess I will probably save the place for treats on special days. Not to forget if you are seated near to the windows, you will get a good view of the Singapore River as well. =)

The minute I walked in, it was as if I was transported back to the past, in the 60s, 70s... The place is really retro, ranging from the wall pictures, furniture and the utensils used. Kinda cool hor?

Mixture of Chicken & Sausage Claypot

We ordered 1 big claypot rice for sharing among 3 adult and 1 kid. There is this option to have a mixture claypot ( 2 in 1 pot) rice with a top up. Good for those who wanna try the different varieties.

A close up of the "topping"

Chinese sausage, chicken and mushroom basically..

Food wise, I dun find it fantastic. In fact, over-rated with a higher price. Each claypot rice is priced at $10+ or more, which we can probably get the same standard kind of claypot rice at hawker centre with lower cost.

The rice was not exactly fragrant, and the topping was considered little for that portion of rice. I'm not someone who dun take oily food, but it was oily without the fragrance.. so having a small bowl was enough..

Lai Lai Beef Noodles OK Dec 12, 2013

Herbal Pork Ribs Udon Set ( Plus pepper salf chicken) - $13.90

pepper salf chicken

I adore herbal soup and so I kinda liked this set. It was an unique combination of herbal sauce, pork ribs ( which were really tender) and udon. If you wanna try something special, this can be a nice option.

Stew Beef Noodle - $7.90

On the contrary, I dun really like the beef noodles. I think besides tender & tasty beef, the soup is another main factor to differentiate between a good and bad beef noodles.

The noodles was okay, the beef was tender alright. In fact, it smell good when it was served. But, it tasted too much like pepper soup. It was so peppery and spicy that I couldnt finish it. Quite disappointed and definitely a far fetch from the one at Taiwan.
