Crêpes @ Crêperie des Arts Cry Sep 21, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : French | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes

We wanted to find a place somewhere along prinsep street to chill and have supper so we decided to try Crêperie des Arts since Strictly Pancakes next door was full. We ordered a Nutella Crêpe and was quite disappointed. It was mediocre and lacks much flavour and crisp. And the whipped cream was kind of gross as it looks rather diluted. Our pint of beer was good though. The complimentary chicken wings that came along with the beer was disastrous. It was so salty! Probably the best thing in the restaurant was the efficient service they had (and the cute little velvet heart on our whipped cream).

Outing @ Shokudo OK Sep 24, 2013
Categories : Japanese

Shokudo is a Japanese restaurant that serves both Japanese food as well as western delights such as pasta. We went to the branch at Cathay Cineleisure, which was relatively quite empty for dinner timing. We ordered a carbonara and a mushroom pasta for the mains. In my opinion, the carbonara was really not bad, but I would prefer it to be a little bit creamier (personal preference). For my friend who ate the mushroom pasta, she said it was rather plain and dry. Overall not bad place for a normal lunch with decent pricing. We didn't have any desserts there due to their limited selection, and their desserts didn't really appeal to us as well.

Desserts @ Bakerzin OK Sep 24, 2013

Categories : Bakery

Went to Bakenzin at Jurong Point for dessert after our dinner, so we ordered a banana split to share. With 3 different type of ice cream (forgotten what were the specific flavours) topped with caramel sauce, it was quite a normal dish like any other banana split from western restaurants. Personally I felt that the banana wasn't fresh?? But overall it's quite ok for a banana split. Maybe we shall try another dessert at Bakerzin the next time smile

Overall the ambience at Bakerzin (at Jurong Point) was good, with several cushion chairs scattered around to make diners feel more "at home". Service was quite fast actually - but maybe that was because we went near their closing hours thus the crowd was significantly lesser. We didn't have any main dish at Bakerzin because in my opinion I felt they were kind of overpriced.

Love ramen? Come to Tampopo Ramen to try these ramen dishes! Tampopo's specialise in the black pig ramen, it also is popular for its Tonkatsu Ramen (see pic). With a very large serving of ramen, the spicy soup with yummy slurpy noodles and fragrant crisp pork cutlet is never a let down for any customers lol First time trying Tampopo ramen and I'm sure we will be back for more soon!

Italian @ La Nonna OK Sep 21, 2013

Categories : Italian | Restaurant

A birthday celebration for friends at this Italian dining place tucked along the streets of Holland Village, La Nonna serves traditional Italian cuisine. When we first arrived we were served a bread basket with 2 small plates of olive oil with vinegar - common custom in some parts of Europe for customers to munch on while waiting for their food to arrive.

We tried their macaroni, spaghetti, lasagna and their signature pizza. I ordered the Lasagna and kind of regret my decision after a few spoonfuls. It was quite soggy and extremely filling with the overwhelming amount of cheese (good dish for cheese lovers!) Can't say much about the rest of the dishes except that my friends liked their macaroni/spaghetti/pizza. Rather pricey place I must say.
