Korean food at Doong Ji Smile Oct 28, 2013

After trying sundubu chigae from the many korean restaurants in Singapore, this restaurant has one of the most authentic silken tofu soup. Diners can choose between pork or seafood. There was a lot of ingredients in the soup, it was filled with sotong, prawns, clams and of course, silken tofu. It's quite a spicy dish though, not suitable for those who can't take spicy food. I also had the spicy chicken, which wasn't awesome. The chicken was a little dry and hard, but nevertheless, the quite authentic korean spiciness made up for it. I would try the pork instead the next time. Similar to all korean restaurants, they serve some side dishes before the start of the meal. The side dishes were great, especially the kimchi and the steamed egg. The staff were very polite and helped us to a second round of side dishes when we requested. One thing to note would be the crowd during meal hours. I would recommend reserving before visiting the restaurant. lol

I'm a fries lover, and I think that the fries at Everything with Fries are great! The fries come in different forms, thick or thin and I prefer the thick fries as it has a more "potato taste". I decided to try something different though and chose the shoe string fries with sour cream and onion. It has the familiar sour cream and onion taste like those in potato chips. I like it very much, but it's still second to the favourite curry fries. The fries came with the cheese burger that I ordered. The beef patty in the burger is soft and tastes wonderful when accompanied with the melted cheese and the soft bun. The side salad has a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, and tastes wonderful too. enjoyed dinner here!

Best takopachi balls in Ion Smile Oct 28, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese

Tried takopachi balls at a few places in Singapore, and this has to be one of the best! It matches the authentic takopachi balls which I had in Japan. The octopus in this takopachi is a bigger piece compared to what the competitors offer. There's these crunchy bits in the takopachi balls which many other takopachi stalls do not have. It gives the balls a better taste and makes it more aromatic. I had the original sauce, and it complements the balls very well, making it even yummier. Given the generous amount of ingredients in the balls, the cost is justifiable too. Must try for all takopachi ball lovers! lol

Make your own MAGNUM!!!!! Smile Oct 27, 2013

Magnum Plaza at Vivo City provides a novel experience. On top of the usual fixed menu most ice cream joints has, you can customize you very own magnum for $7, which is exactly what I did!. First you could choose 3 toppings, from a range of chocolate crunchies, chocolate hearts, golf flakes, gold nuggets, almond flakes, macadamia chips, pistachio chips, etc. Next you choose the type of chocolate coating for your magnum, and then they will top it off with a little chocolate drizzle, and sprinkle your toppings on top, and add a magnum coin on top! I chose a milk chocolate coating with chocolate crunchies, gold flakes, and macadamia chips toppings, with a drizzle of white chocolate. The combination looked royal, and while it tasted abit like the usual magnum, only a little crunchier and sweeter, it was a unique experience. After all, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE! ;)

Ju Shin Jung has very authentic korean barbecue. The quality of the beef is fantastic. It was tender and very well marinated. The grille was also very good, as it allows the oil from the meat to drain instead of collecting on the grille. I also particularly liked their seafood steamboat soup, as they were generous with the seafood, and I could taste that the soup was boiled from scratch instead of made from instant powder like most others. The service at the restaurant was very good and they were generous with the side dishes which was refillable.
