Best kebap rice Smile Oct 27, 2013

Went to Sofra to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place was very empty when we reached, only one other table was occupied. There were some very value for money lunch sets (price range from 7.90-14.90 nett). I had the Doner Kebap Rice with chicken, there was a very generous amount of meat. The rice was mixed with short strands of beehoon, giving the rice a very fragrant taste and smell. It tasted a little like coconut rice, very yummy. There was some veggies at the side comprising of cut tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red pepper. The mix was very good, with the juicy tomatoes and cucumbers complementing the slightly spicy and drier green and red pepper. The kebap chicken was very delicious! It's tender and not hard like other kebaps, and cooked to perfection! Best kebap I've eaten. lol My friend had the Doner Kebap Rice with beef and lamb, the mix of the two meats gave a very strong taste and smell. For diners who don't like the strong smell of lamb, I would suggest not going for this option. The chicken is a definitely must try for kebap lovers!

Western food at Astons OK Oct 27, 2013
Categories : Steaks and Grills

Astons sells one of the cheaper and value for money western food. I had the chargrilled chicken with baked potato and garden veggie. The chargrilled chicken was cooked well, it smelled very good and tasted very delicious. It was tender and juicy and the cook didn't overcook it. The sauce on the chicken complements it very well, made it even yummier. I felt the baked potato was not awesome though. Although the butter which gave it a good smell, there was too much of it which made it a little oily and buttery. The garden veggie was okay too, it wasn't boiled for too long hence the carrots were still raw and hard. Good for those who prefer more natural veggies. Would choose other side dishes the next time!

Dessert at Black Ball Smile Oct 27, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese | Chinese Desserts | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Had black ball a few times, there was a long queue each time I went. This dessert chain offers an interesting mix of ingredients. My favourite is the signature black ball, which comes with yam, sweet potato, red beans, black pearls, grass jelly. All of them come in different degree of hardness and sweetness, and taste very good when eaten together. The grass jelly is very smooth, probably the one which is least sweet. The black pearls and yam balls are chewy, and the red beans are the sweetest.

Be sure to go earlier though, as some of the ingredients tend to sell out at a later time. I tried one with self-selected ingredients, with kidney beans, red beans, nata de coco and ice jelly. Wouldn't recommend the ice jelly, it didnt taste good with the other ingredients. And I would recommend the icy one (with shaved ice), the ice is shaved well, I don't see any chunks of ice inside my dessert bowl. Good and interesting dessert! lol

Very yummy claypot rice Smile Oct 27, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Coffeeshop

Have heard of the good claypot rice here, and decided to have it during lunch. It takes about 15mins to prepare the food, so prepare to wait for awhile. The claypot rice looks very appetizing, and it smells very good. Took a bite and wow, it's very delicious! The rice is cooked just well, not too hard nor soft, and it has the claypot aroma and taste within it. There's bits of spicy dried shrimp mixed with the rice, which gave it the crispy taste and very nice smell. The chicken is good too, tender and not too hard. One of the best claypot rice I've had! lol

Good fish soup! Smile Oct 27, 2013

Have always been a fan of fish soup, and I would say this stall has one of the best fish soup. The place is very crowded during lunch, be sure to hang around to find a seat. I ordered the mixed fish soup (fried fish and sliced fish) with thick beehoon. The milky soup has a very rich and yummy taste, as it's served with fried eggs. The sliced fish is very fresh, and they are quite generous with the fish slices. They dont have the fishy taste nor smell too. The fried fish is good too, the fish meat inside is soft and the fish is not overfried. I like the vegetables inside, goes very well with the soup. They serve the fish soup with either yee mian or thick beehoon, both are nice. Definitely must try the fish soup here! mad
