Western food at Astons OK Oct 27, 2013
Categories : Steaks and Grills

Astons sells one of the cheaper and value for money western food. I had the chargrilled chicken with baked potato and garden veggie. The chargrilled chicken was cooked well, it smelled very good and tasted very delicious. It was tender and juicy and the cook didn't overcook it. The sauce on the chicken complements it very well, made it even yummier. I felt the baked potato was not awesome though. Although the butter which gave it a good smell, there was too much of it which made it a little oily and buttery. The garden veggie was okay too, it wasn't boiled for too long hence the carrots were still raw and hard. Good for those who prefer more natural veggies. Would choose other side dishes the next time!

Good fish soup! Smile Oct 27, 2013

Have always been a fan of fish soup, and I would say this stall has one of the best fish soup. The place is very crowded during lunch, be sure to hang around to find a seat. I ordered the mixed fish soup (fried fish and sliced fish) with thick beehoon. The milky soup has a very rich and yummy taste, as it's served with fried eggs. The sliced fish is very fresh, and they are quite generous with the fish slices. They dont have the fishy taste nor smell too. The fried fish is good too, the fish meat inside is soft and the fish is not overfried. I like the vegetables inside, goes very well with the soup. They serve the fish soup with either yee mian or thick beehoon, both are nice. Definitely must try the fish soup here! mad

Kopitiam by day, bar by night OK Oct 27, 2013

I ate here in the day when it was a kopitiam, and had the famous yong tau foo and vegetarian beehoon. The yong tau foo was not bad but the tau kee was a tad bit salty. The vegetarian beehoon was nice and tasty. However, the vegetarian sides contrary to popular sentiments, I found was overly fried and very oily. The zai er was not bad but the beancurd skin with mushrooms inside was overly starchy.

Wagyu Beed Salad with warm mushrooms

Wagyu Beed Salad with warm mushrooms

Perfect for a light lunch is the Wagyu Beef Salad with Warm Mushrooms at Dome. It comes with lettuce tomatoes, avocado, beetroot, carrot, and of course, wagyu beef and warm mushrooms! The wagyu beef hot from the over, is tender and tasty, and it together with the warm mushrooms, which brings out a nice truffle taste, makes a originally cold salad nice and warm.

Spending per head: Approximately $16(Lunch)

Cheap and Good Steamboat Smile Oct 27, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot | Kids-Friendly

Parkway Parade Steamboat, hidden in the basement foodcourt at roxy square is the perfect place for affordable ala-carte steamboat in the comfort of air-conditioning. There are two soup options, either tom yam which is really quite spicy, or the chicken broth. I like mixing the tomyam with the chicken broth to make it milder. The meat, seafood, and vegetable here are very fresh, and my favorite steamboat ingredient, which is only served here, is called fish glue. It taste somewhat like fish cake, but only better.
