Oriole Cafe OK Sep 15, 2013

Passed by Oriole Cafe and decided to have brunch there. Ordered the full english, which comes with sunny side up, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and toast. I like the mushrooms, very fragrant and juicy. Sausages was good too, very thick and yummy. But didn't really enjoy the other items, especially the bacon which I thought was a little overcooked and thus very hard. My friend had the jerk chicken, I would say it's a better choice than the full english. The chicken is soft and tender, and onion rings which come with it is fried well, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Staff who served us was very cheerful though! lol

Max Brenner Smile Sep 15, 2013

Categories : American | Desserts and Cakes

Had Max Brenner after dinner, it's one of my favourite chill out place. Ambience is good and they serve one of my favourite drinks, the Eighties milkshake. The use of metal straw makes the chocolate drink ice cold, and I really like that. I love the vanilla ice cream on top of the drink, it doesn't melt into the drink but gives an extra vanilla-milky taste. I also like the Suckao drink, where you can mix your own milk and chocolate bits in. The milk tastes really fresh and good (milk is refillable), and the chocolate bits are of good quality. A must go if you're a fan of chocolate drinks!

Peranakan Inn Cry Sep 15, 2013

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Restaurant | Curries | Rice

Went Peranakan Inn for dinner. Place was full and we had to wait about 15mins. Ordered dishes and food took another 15-20mins. Out of all the dishes, the ngo hiang was the best, its skin is crispy and the meat tasted really yummy. The ayam siol was not bad either, the sauce was quite yummy. The sambal sotong was okay, very ordinary. However, the other dishes were quite disappointing and came in very small portions. The bakwan kepiting tasted like there was a lot of pepper added to it. I felt they didn't cook the otak enough as it was still very soft. The chap chye sauce was a little blend. All in all, the food here doesn't taste like authentic peranakan food at all, was quite a disappointing dinner. (plus the service wasn't good) sad

Good sashimi at Sakuraya Smile Sep 15, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Heard about the good sashimi this restaurant serves and gave it a try at lunch. The concept is different here, the salmon are packed for sale and you could choose any for the chef to slice into sashimi. Ordered a spicy salmon maki to go with the salmon sashimi. Maki came in very small portions, but had a lot of salmon meat. Tasted quite ordinary, was tasty, and it wasn't too spicy. The salmon sashimi was very fresh and there was a tinge of sweet taste. Could taste the salmon juice. It's really cheap for the many sashimi slices. Definitely the place to go to satisfy salmon cravings! lol

Antoinette Smile Sep 15, 2013

Categories : French | High Tea | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

Heard about the great food Antoinette serves and headed there for dinner. Place is very small and crowded, were lucky we could get a seat. Had the highly recommended Classic french onion soup. I like the cheese crust on top of the soup, very tasty but oily. The soup was very fragrant and tasty too. Ordered the Paris crepe too, it looks special and I was a little doubtful about its taste initially. But it was very yummy, the crepe wasn't too hard, and the mix of the sunny side up and ham was really good. Had an Antoinette cake for dessert, it's very creative of them to use earl grey in their ingredient. Cake tastes as good as it looks. There was a slight tinge of bitter earl grey in the sweet cake, very good mixture of taste. Thumbs up for the food! smile

P/s: restaurant was very cold when we were there. bring along a jacket just in case!
