Modesto's Smile Sep 14, 2013

Headed to Modesto's for dinner, restaurant was relatively empty when we reached about 6.30pm. Ordered the Burratina e prosciutto crudo as starters to share. The thin parma ham slices went very well with the burrata cheese and cherry tomatoes. There was a mixture of salty, slightly sour and sweet taste with all the ingredients, very yummy! The rockets usually have a very strong taste, but it tasted very well with the others, would definitely recommend this dish! We then shared a Capricciosa pizza which was wood fired. I especially like wood fired pizzas as they taste very different. The pizza had a very crunchy crust, much to our delight. The ham tasted juicy, and the there was a good blend with the artichokes and mushrooms. I don't like pizzas with too much tomato sauce, and Modesto's did it just right! Like the food here very much! madlol

Sushi at Sushi Express Smile Sep 14, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Was quite crowded when we went Sushi Express, we queued for about 40mins before getting in. For $1.50 per item, the food is very worth it, especially for premium items like the salmon sashimi, scallop and abalone-like slices. The salmon sashimi is fresh and tender despite its price, I felt it's even comparable to some Japanese restaurants. The scallops were also very fresh and sweet. I especially like the abalone-like slices, the mayonnaise on top made it even more tasty! Overall enjoyed dining here despite the long wait! lol

Wild Honey OK Sep 14, 2013

Categories : American | Café | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

Visited the place after hearing about the good all day breakfast they serve. Be sure to make reservations as the restaurant is always crowded. I had the Norwegian, it's basically poached eggs with smoked salmon. I liked it, the eggs are just right, not too watery nor too hard. Tasted very well with the smoked salmon, which is soft and yummy. The accompanying hollandaise sauce and avocado made the Norwegian even more delicious. lol

My friend wasn't too hungry so she had the Chicken Chop Chop salad. It has a unique combination of ingredients, with fried shredded wanton and cashew nuts together with chicken breast meat. I felt that they added too much of the fried shredded wanton, which spoiled the taste of the dish and was quite a disappointment. sad

Meatballs at Ikea! Smile Sep 14, 2013
Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Ikea cafe is most well known for its meatballs! They had a recent change of recipe, I felt that the original meatballs tasted better. Nevertheless, the meatballs are still the best in town! Very soft and tasty, the sauce brings out an even better taste of the meatballs. I like the side jam, gives a sweet tinge of taste to the meatballs. The chicken wings served there are great too! Very crispy, but can get a little oily at times. I also like the salmon fillet and smoked salmon slices, both very soft and fresh. Dont really like the side beans that come with the salmon fillet though. The chicken thigh is good, very soft and tender! mad

Restaurant is always very crowded at dining hours, so be prepared to spend some time looking for seats.

Penang food! OK Sep 14, 2013
Categories : Malaysian | Halal | Noodles

My mum had a sudden craving for penang food so we decided to pop by Penang Culture. She ordered the penang laksa, we both agreed it tasted only ordinary and there are other nicer penang laksas around. I had the penang char kway teow, wasn't too oily and I felt it tasted more authentic than the penang laksa. Tried the chendol for dessert, it's one of the better chendols I've had. There wasn't a very strong taste of coconut, and the jelly noodles and beans are soft. Staff were friendly and initiative. Overall quite enjoyed dinner there!
