fu pi roll in oyster sauce

So, having had a convenient sandwich for dinner on the go, hunger pangs attacked later in the same night. lol

Went to one of my preferred chinese dim sum places in Singapore. As usual, they were packed and had to take a queue number. Queue time was not too bad today, approximately 5 minutes.

Verdict of some of the dishes tasted today..
Dou miao with garlic: would have been good if there were more garlic. Lack a fragrant scent too.
Fu pi roll in oyster sauce: same as the usual fu pi roll, just that this one is drowned in oyster sauce. (yes drowned. coz very salty!tongue)

Oh by the way, service was relatively slow today as compared to previous visits. Think it was due to slow delivery from the chef's department. Tables around us were also found asking the servers when the rest of their food orders will arrive. shocked

Bottom line: I will return for my beloved chicken feet mad

Working breakfast OK Sep 12, 2013

This shop is near my office and just next to the MRT station. rather convenient. smile

Sells the usual chinese breakfast, AKA bread with kaya and half-boiled eggs, coffee/tea.

Other than these, nasi lemak and economic noodles, beehoon or kuay tiao are available all day (not only in the morning). They used to have mee tai mak too, but I havent seen it since 2013 started sad

the beehoon and noodles are fried together with some pieces of vegetables and luncheon meat, taste-wise considered good. Most economic beehoon/noodles stores have only plain fried beehoon/noodles. So i guess for the Rock by the well, this i s their selling point.

However, the side dish selection is rather limited here. Usuals are sunny-side up, fried luncheon meat slices, fried fish fillet, fried chicken fillet, stir-fried long beans, stir-fried cabbages. Could do with more variety.

During peak hour, they are rather 'professional' and systematic and generally clears the queue fast.

Low priced indulgence OK Sep 09, 2013

This place is not upmarket but boasts of seafood delicacies in the realm of sharksfin and abalone. Most foods in their menu are on the healthier side. and you get to choose a main varying from the usual rice to rice noodles, abalone noodles to udon. I personally liked their xo sauce tongue

Nothing much to comment on their service. Not GEM style but reasonably polite. Each set meal comes with a chinese tea and chinese dessert of the day. I had chng teng for mine this time round.

Not a good meal. Cry Sep 08, 2013

First try here, got some vouchers and decided to try the place. Verdict: Thank God for vouchers - means I didn't have to pay full price for my sadness.

The clam chowder tasted like bland potato cream concoction and was already lukewarm when served. Caribbean seafood for 2, fries were overly done with oil dripping a wee bit, oysters were powdery to taste, calamari was rubbery, prawns and fish had a stench to them. Fish in particular was wet and slimy.

I tried to come up with at least an item tts nice. I found it! The humble tabasco sauce lol
