Nanbantei is possibly the oldest Japanese Yakitori Restaurant in Singapore.

Entering the simple wood furnished outlet, you can see that seats are limited in this small and comfy restaurant. Simplicity is the core of Japanese cuisine. I’m very glad that they accept seat reservations if not I’d probably be eating Tori-Q instead. The ventilation system is also strong, sucking away any of the smoke from the grill; an absolute must for a Yakitori restaurant.

A huge variety of skewer yakitori and sashimi to choose from, Nanbantei excels on the simplicity of it's seasoning and ingredients, depending largely on freshness of the raw base component.

The chefs just whip out whatever the order is, salts and peppers it then slaps it on the grill. That's pretty much the entire cooking process.

Not exactly cheap also for Japanese Yakitori, but it's a treat to see 2 live chefs grilling your food in front of you.

Celebrity CUT prices Smile Sep 09, 2013

Ah, the famous CUT. The prices were really very 'cut' as well. The steaks were overall quite good, but a good 20% more expensive than say Bedrock Bar & grill, which had comparable if not better steak. The starter breads selection were surprisingly what wow-ed me.

Good ambience, good quality USDA cuts, but not exactly worth the price. Service was also average, which shouldn't be the case if I'm paying $100 for my steak.

We had the Sirloin steak and Ribeye, which were tender and juicy.

Simply good bread Smile Sep 09, 2013

French Toast

French Toast

Had the roast beef sandwich and french toast, along with the cinnamon buns which were all quite tasty, especially the sticky cinnamon buns.

A simple place for simple bread, I didn't find it overly pricey as well. Of course, if you think you can bake your own bread at home and make french toast, go ahead!

Pork Belly Superstar K

Pork Belly Superstar K

Superstar K is definitely worth a try for Korean BBQ, as their complementary side dishes are delicious as well as the quality cuts of meat used. The steamed egg is what really blew me away.

Get the Pork Belly and Grilled beef ribs, which are excellent choice meats without much marination.

The waiters even grill the meat for you!

Although not as cheap as BBQ buffet like 2D1N Siju Bang, you don't have to queue for hours like buying Hello Kitty either and squeeze with K-pop crazy teens at the buffet table.

Probably one of the best steaks in Singapore, better than Wolfgang Puck's Cut, which prices are about 20% more (really cut you like a chai tao).

Excellent Rib eye cap steak cut, although the black pepper sauce tasted like supermarket bought bottled sauce. Signature Whisky Sour is also a must try.

With modern American wood fixtures of the classic steakhouse, Bedrock has a very comforting ambience and excellent staff. Prices are high, but not as high as celebrity restaurants and certainly worth the value.
