Must try dishes are beef rendang, bakwan kepeting (noodle) soup, chap chye, assam seafood/fish and chendol ice cream. Sago gula melaka ice cream is also good!

The Best of O'nya set is good for two pax and great for tasting 6 different signature dishes.

Nice Japanese restaurant Smile Oct 02, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen | Sushi/Sashimi

A simple restaurant in Jurong Country Club that serves nice Japanese cuisine. Was told the restaurant is known too for their bento but tonight's dinner was a full spread.

We started with the zensai Kaisen Kongo ($10.80) for appetizer which had about 8 ingredients like scallop, salmon, fish roe which was salty but when eaten with the lettuce garnish, it was better.

Next we had the teapot soup ($10.80) made from Oyster, not the tiny one but a big plumb juicy one.

The Sashimi Ume ($68.80) was good too. Halibut's fin sashimi was very good. Never tried it before but is very light and tasty. The fatty feel of the fish in the mouth was also fantastic. The Gindara Mentaiyaki was good too. It used pollack roe and cheese.

The teapot soup was made from oyster broth which was a pretty big sized one.

The Mentaiyaki was made from pollack roe and some cheese.

The sushi selection was also good with a mix of seared and raw items. The uni was fresh and I enjoyed it.

Most interestingly, the ramen broth was made from vegetable and cooked with seafood which is different from other pork or chicken base ramen broth. It was tastier than expected but I found the ramen noodle bland. Maybe because I'm more used to the oilier pork broth ones.

We ended the dinner with grape ice cream. It was yummy and the citrus taste is a great end to a lovely dinner.

Do check this place out. Definitely worth a repeat visit. There's visitor parking lot in the club so shouldn't be too difficult to get here by car or public transport. The restaurant setting is simple but the freshness and quality of the food is worth a trip to the Jurong country club for a good meal. Plus Chef Ming is such a lovely and personal host and that makes the whole experience very special.

Yummy thai and western food Smile Oct 01, 2013

I've only tried the Thai menu but heard the western selections are good too. Must order the grilled pork neck and basil chicken fried rice. The tang hoon seafood salad is good and so is the Thai fish cake. The tang hoon prawn is also good too! Serves beer as well and has my favourite Kronenbourg Blanc.

Great place for beer and food Smile Sep 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bars/Lounges

This is a great place for beer and food. They have a wide selection of beer and almost everything we've ordered on the menu were delicious.

We had the crispy silver fish, cajun flavoured fries, golden onion rings, beef cheeks, lamb shank, fish & chips, duck confit and prawn pasta. We liked almost every dish, except the lamb shank which we felt would be nicer if the meat were cooked enough such that they'd fall smoothly off the bones and prawn pasta which was nice but ordinary (ie. nothing much to rave about).

Will be back for more. Only complaint was the service - somehow the bar tender didn't seem too welcoming. Only had him and the waitress but it was a slow Sunday without much customers. Not sure how they'd cope with a full house.

Best dim sum in Singapore for me for now so far and I have tried many. Love the XO carrot cake, liu sha bao, and all the other dim sum are so delicate and tasty. And although it is in ION, the price is reasonable (so long as you stick to ordering only the dim sum and not the other main dishes). Call to book a table. Food is good but service is quite bad - very hard to get their attention to place order or even get the bill.
