Set A

If you want to get your Japanese yakitori fix in a fast way, try Tori-Q! There are numerous outlet island wide and can be easily located by its clear glass see through kitchen and yakitori display. I ordered a Set A at $5.80 which consists of 2 chicken sticks, 1 chicken ball stick, 1 pork stick, rice, some purple pickles and a dash of seaweed on top of the rice. The yakitori is dipped into a black sweet and salted sauce before placing them on top of the seaweed bed. The portion is just right and the sauce complements the yakitori. The yakitori is cooked perfectly, soft and juicy, with a little scorched at the side.

Yummy Roasted Meat Smile Oct 24, 2013

Hua Fong Kee Roasted Duck is one of my favorite weekend lunch places. I'll come here whenever I need my roasted meat fix. It is in a coffee shop setting with plentiful of seating areas, however it can be quite crowded during peak hours. To avoid the crowd, try to reach this place during off peak hours. I must say their staff is very friendly. When you are looking at their stall, almost anyone standing outside the stall will ask what you want to order. My all-time favorite is the Char Siew Roasted Pork combination with an additional lu dan and it costs only $3.80. Unlike other roasted meat stall, Hua Fong Kee’s Char Siew is thinly sliced and tender. Their Roasted Pork is crispy and has the savory spice flavor. smile

Korean Cuisine in NUS Smile Oct 22, 2013

Finally University Town is ready and it offers an alternative space for people to study, dine and relax. I chance upon The Hwang’s Restaurant which offers Korean cuisine while waiting for love. There is a process in taking orders – firstly: take your cutlery and tray, secondly: choose the can/bottled drinks you like, thirdly: placed your order, subsequently: take some ice or if you prefer dispenser drinks and finally make payment and wait for your food. Each combo comes with two sides, a soup, rice and a hot plate full of BBQ meat of your choice. I order the pork and chicken BBQ combo. The pork is quite dry and tough but the chicken is moist and succulent. There is a lot of seaweed in the soup and it is quite tasty. Will return back to try other items in the menu.

Alex’s Eating House was introduced by a colleague of mine claiming it offers one of best roasted meat in Singapore. When we reached at 12.40pm, it was packed with hungry diners. We finally got a table after waiting for about 10 minutes. I ordered a Char Siew Roasted Pork combination. I was amazed by the amount of large pieces of meat at only $4. The Char Siew is well-marinated, sweet and slightly charred. The roasted pork is crispy and the meat is savory. lol

Since my last visit to Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant, I’ve have been craving for their Chicken Kebap. This time, I brought love <3 there for lunch. Since Doner Kebap Rice is highly recommended by me, love also ordered that. This time we ordered starters to share – Salad Plate – a combination of sofra salad, eggplant salad, hummus and vine leaves roll. The presentation for this Salad Plate is eye-catching. The eggplant salad is well marinated and delightful. The vine leaves roll is something unique and sweet tasting. We also ordered a Turkish Bread to go along with our Salad Plate. The Turkish Bread is warm and fluffy and taste great with the Salad Plate. smile
