My colleague suggested trying YY Kopitiam for lunch one day. YY Kopitiam sells ‘zhi char’ style food and there is also a chicken rice stall within the kopitiam. Hence, you could say that there is a wide range of food to choose if you run out of lunch ideas. One colleague ordered the Xin Zhou Bee Hoon, it is oily and does not have much ingredient. Another colleague ordered the Chicken Rice, it is lightly fragrant and chicken is soft. I ordered the Wanton Mee from the chicken rice stall. The wanton is not bad and the char siew is not thick and fatty.There is also a display cabinet full of kuehs. The kuehs were not bad and its great with a cup of coffee for tea break.

There are 3 kopitiam along the stretch of Block 22. Earth Jar Treasure situated in the kopitiam nearest to the multi-storey carpark. It can be easily found and identified by the oversize urns sitting by its side. There are about 11 different types of soups available. Each soups comes in individual mini claypots and you can choose either white rice or cabbage rice. I personally like the combination of cabbage rice and the lotus root soup. There is a sachet of chinese herbs, meat and lotus root in the soup. The soup is very flavorful as it extracted all the goodness from all the ingredients. Delicious!

Apart from selling aromatic Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua, Seow Choon Hua Restaurant also sells Foo Chow cuisine. When Chinese New Year is around the corner, there will be long trail of people queuing to buy items like Foo Chow Fishballs, Rou Yans, Dumplings and Heer Keows for their steamboat reunion dinner. On the one hand, I don’t really like the Foo Chow Fishballs because it is too floury and the meat filling is too little. On the other hand, the Heer Keows scored points! It has great texture and is very chewy.

Every Chinese New Year, my grandma will cook Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua and that is the only chance I get to eat it. So happen that I came across Seow Choon Hua Restaurant that sells Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua and most diners ordered a bowl Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua, so I decided to try it. Their Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua is simply aromatic! Every mouthful is savory as the mee sua and the succulent chicken have absorbed the thick red wine broth. Yummy!

There is also bottle red wine for sale. So you can buy it and cook your very own Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua.

When I stepped into this little bakery shop, I was overwhelmed by the cozy environment. A sofa was placed against a corner of the room and beside it is a clear glass cabinet that displays those pretty cupcakes that are available that day.

They currently offers 21 flavors, however only selected flavors are available at any given day. After spending a while looking through the flavors available, I settled on a box of 6 cupcakes! They all look so irresistible. The flavors I got were “Melodramatic Mint”, “Jazzy Jaffa”, “Saucy Salted Caramel”, “Rockin Red Velvet” and “Bouncy Butterscotch”.
Surprisingly, their premium flavor, Rockin Red Velvet cake base was rather dry. Conversely, another premium flavor, Saucy Salted Caramel was fantastic! The soft and fluffy cake base with salted caramel sauce get my taste bud tingling.
