The Yam cake they are selling cost S$1.00. It is piping hot as they are freshly fried.

The Yam cake is soft. It is very oily. There isn't any bits of yam in it so there is no yam taste. Just tasted like any carrot cake instead.

Yoshinoya OK Dec 26, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Rice

I Walked to Marina Square's Yoshinoya for my lunch.

I have ordered their Beef vegetable Rice Bowl set meal which cost S$7.90.
Miso Soup (FOC for the set)

Miso Soup (FOC for the set)

It consisted a bowl of free miso soup. It is quite watery with only a little miso taste. It has bits of seaweed, small dry toupok.
Fanta Grape (FOC for the set)

There is also a free drink to go with the meal.
Beef Veg Bowl (S$7.90 for a set meal)

Beef Veg Bowl (S$7.90 for a set meal)

The beef with vegetable bowl looks good. They have plentiful of vegetable (Cauliflower, broccoli, french bean and carrot. The vegetable is bland and has no taste. The beef slices were just the right cut, not too oily nor dry. A nice teriyaki sauce flavour of the beef which goes well with the rice.
Addon Prawn Ball With Mayonnaise (S$2.00 Add on)

Addon Prawn Ball With Mayonnaise (S$2.00 Add on)

The prawn balls are breaded with big bits of bread. They are very crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. The prawn balls goes well with the mayonnaise.

Lastly is the Tori Kinkai which is only available on Wednesday. This is actually our version of chicken nugget. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft and juicy. The katsu sauce that comes with it is very salty and it actually spoil the taste of the Tori Kinkai if you eat with it.

Mini One at Takashimaya Food Hall serves mini pastry which prices are based on weight. They have a few varieties available like Mochi, Cheese cake, Sausage roll, Croissant.. and my favorite is of course the Mochi.

I bought a mixture of Strawberry Whitechoco Mochi and Caramel Nuts Mochi. The Strawberry ones are only avaliable after 4pm and are their best seller. Every 100g cost S$3.00 which estimated to be around 6 - 8 pieces.
6 - 8 pieces / 100g S$3.00

The Strawberry Whitechoco Mochi has a nice strawberry flavour. It is crispy on the outside and chewy in the center. There were also white chocolate chips in it and gives it a slight crunchy effect when bite.

The Caramel Nuts Mochi tasted like popcorn due to the caramel in it. It is also crispy on the outside and chewy in the center. There are bits of nuts and caramel sweet in it. Crispy and Crunchy in every bite.

Yong Ji Penang Char Kway Teow 勇记炒粿条 is situated inside Malaysia Boleh in Jurong Point. There is always a very long queue at this stall. Estimated queuing time is at least minimum 30 mins.
So I have decided to test my patience on this stall to see how great is the food to create such a long wait.

It is so-called lucky for me, I have waited "only" 35mins for my Penang Char Kway Teow as many impatience customers in front of me walked off during the queue. I have also found that the queue was long was not due to many people queuing but the waiting time for the food to be cooked took very long thus creating the queue. The are 2 pricing, S$4.00 for a small plate and S$6.00 for a big one.

I have at last received My S$4.00 Penang Chay Kway Teow after a 35 mins wait. There were many bean sprouts and Chinese leeks in it. The big prawns are very crunchy. The overall taste is disappointing. It tasted very bland and most important there is no "wok hei". The Fried Char Kway Teow is also very oily. Wasted all my effort in queuing!

They are selling both White and Black Fried Carrot Cake. Price range between S$2.00 - S$3.00.
I have ordered the Black one with egg.
Black Fried Carrot Cake with Egg (S$2.00)

Black Fried Carrot Cake with Egg (S$2.00)

The plate came with the Fried carrot cake served on it in a mess. When you take a mouthful of the carrot cake, you cake bite the soft carrot cake, crunchy chai po and garlic. The fried carrot cake got a hint of "wok hei". Not too sweet and there is a lot of eggs in it.
