As the restaurant name suggests, this place specializes in yakitori, the Japanese version of Satays. However, after trying a few of their Yakitori, I find them no different with my usual Tori-Q except that there are more varieties here. I didn't try all of them I suppose there should be some nice ones but it is double the price from what I get outside.
In fact, if you were to try this place, I would recommend their Udon. The Mentai Cream Udon ($8.90) was really rich in flavour with chunky Udon but it felt a bit too creamy if you were to take up the whole portion all alone mad

The fluffy Udon, as I name it, was full of froth with udon served in a mild sweet soup. It was worth the try, would prefer if there would be more toppings accompanying it. Wanted to try the Tamago Mentai Cheese which is one of the recommended dish but was disappointed to know that the kitchen ran out of the ingredients for it for the day.

Ordered a Potato Salad ($3.90) and a Chicken Salad for appetizers. The potato salad was good, no creamy mayo which would be too sinful but rather it was combination of vegetables, mashed potato as well as some shredded toppings around the salad. Apparently, the shreddings were fried wanton skin, thus adding a tad of crunchiness.

Went there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was quite quiet without much crowd. Perhaps it was due to the fact that this restaurant was newly opened in Bugis Junction. Overall, I would return for other food items except their yakitori. In addition, if you were to be there on weekdays lunch hours, they serve affordable lunch sets in fact.

Expensive, Commonplace Jap Food OK Oct 22, 2013

You might assume that this place in the new wing of PS must be really good at the sight of the snaky queue during weekends. I beg to differ, I think the place is kinda over-rated and too pricey for most of the food items in the menu.

Ordered the Lobster Bisque Soup Spaghetti, Fuwa-fuwa Hoshino Souffle ($15.80) and the Hoshino Pot Baked Curry Rice. Out of these three, I find only the spaghetti satisfied me. I would highly recommend against the baked curry rice as it was really not worthwhile for this ordinary dish consisting of rice, two half hotdogs and an egg. The curry was alright. I could not fathom why on earth this could be one of the restaurant's recommended dish.

The spaghetti was my only consolation. The sauce was rich not too gelat, but I could not really discern out much lobster flavour. On the other hand, the Hoshino souffle was special with the fluffy crust on top. I liked it initially but was disappointed after that of the content of the baked rice beneath. There were too much froth in fact while the portion of baked rice beneath was small with bits and pieces of pathetic ham and mushroom.

I would not want to return to the place anymore. Food is actually really commonplace and too pricey indeed mad

Nicest Shaved Ice OK Oct 19, 2013
Categories : Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

Situated conveniently near the Chinatown MRT station, this dessert place befittingly is selling Chinese desserts and one of the nicest Shaved Ice I have tried so far. The place used to be a double-lot but now expands up to three shop lots. This reflects how popular this dessert place is. There is also a branch in ION basement.

Ordered their shaved ice to beat the heat outside and to quench my thirst. Had the Chendol and Matcha Shaved Ice ($5). The Mango Shaved Ice is also one of their signature but I am not really a mango fan so decided to give that a miss. The Chendol one was really rich in coconut taste and it came along with a bottle of brown syrup which one could add on accordingly. It was really good with the combination of red bean and atapchi too. For those who prefer something not too sweet, Matcha would be a great choice. It was not too bland, especially with the red bean topping along. But honestly, I felt slightly disappointed, as I remember that the Matcha taste used to be stronger when I had it first last year. Sometimes, it is really saddening that the food quality drops when the quantity of customers grows.

As for the Mango roll, I would not recommend it unless you feel like eating just plain mango. The skin wrapping around the mango chunk was thick and tasteless. I ended up separating the skin away and just popped in the mango solely.

I would recommend the place for their shaved ice and chinese steamed cakes such as the pumpkin cake. The Chinese pastes used to be rich and smooth but now it becomes too diluted. I wish the owner of the place can really look into maintaining the standard of the desserts.

Yummy and Healthy ^^ Smile Feb 28, 2014

Categories : Food Court

Nowadays the public has been getting more health-conscious with many public eat-out health initiatives going on. Kopitiam has been promoting the preferred choice for brown rice, brown vermicelli, less salt and less sugar.

Tried the steamed gourmet as I am a fan of brown rice. I like the chewy solid texture of the rice. The dishes here are all steamed, appealing to those who like the light and healthier cooking style.

Overall, though being priced steeper than the others, I really like the food here, mainly simply it is healthy and yet delicious!! ^^

Refreshingly Syiok ^^ Smile Feb 28, 2014

As the name of the restaurant suggests, its specialty is none other than Matcha ^^ Among all the places I have tried which serve Matcha beverages, I find that Maccha House has indeed the best rendition. I like that the Matcha taste is rich and strong while the drinks are not overly sweetened. Then only one can savour the bitter sweetness of Matcha lol

I always have the Matcha Latte with Matcha ice cream. The soft serve vanilla Ice cream is not too sweet, adding on to a perfect completion of bitter sweetness. Just the very drink one needs for refreshing syiokness lollol

The dining area is very spacious and would be a very good option for group dining or just desserts while chit-chatting smile
