Quality's there but Too Pricey >< OK Dec 17, 2013

It was a Sunday late morning but the place was considerably empty. It would be a good place for brunch during weekends as it would be packed at most brunch places. It was not hot that day so it was great to be seated at the airy alfresco area.

Food quality was good however the pinch is its above-average-pricing indeed! mad

Tried their Eggs Benedict, one was the Streaky Bacon Savoury Pancake ($23) while the other was the Smoked Salmon ($24). I think the former was preferred, the egg was done just the right way as it should be and tasted great along with the savoury pancakes. However, the latter version was just run-of-the-mill. Looking at the size of it, it was not meant to be filling surely. The only commendable aspects were that luckily the egg was done right while the smoked Salmon was fresh enough.

Tried the Chicken Roulade ($28), meat was tender enough and the gravy sauce tasted flavourful enough. Had the Pizza Rocket ($28) too, the Parma Ham was fresh but the pizza crust was too hard. Can pretty much give it a miss sad

Overall, food quality was average but at a steep price. But the quiet ambience was the only plus point.

The pasta at CBTL is good enough for me although they are of course not superb. They are good to fill one's stomach as the portion is quite big. As there is an outlet near NUS where I am schooling at, I often frequent the place and thus have actually tried all of the pasta on the menu haha lol

Out of all, the recommended ones are the chicken n' mushroom, salmon n' cream as well as the beef lasagne. I don't fancy much the other choices. The first two are cream-based and are not too creamy. But I often cannot finish everything by myself as the portion was too large.

The lunch or dinner sets would be worthwhile if you want to top it up with any of their drinks.

Generally the pastas are not too bad for a simple unpretentious meal lol
For something lighter, go for the Chic Mayo Sandwich with wholewheat bread smile

A Chinese Curry-themed meal OK Nov 25, 2013

Categories : Fusion

I am never much of a curry fan. But my friend, who is an avid fan of all types of curry, strongly recommends the place. So yeah I therefore gave it a try since many said curry, minus the coconut milk haha, has the beneficial effect of boosting immunity and anti-inflammatory property.

The decorations of the place are pretty Chinese-ish with crockeries of the olden days and red Chinese paintings. This new outlet seems to be relocated from the old curry place in Marina South food court in the past. However many said the place is actually not related at all. Not having tried the original version in the past, it is hard to determine if this place is just an imitation.

Anyway, this curry-themed restaurant has more than just curry dishes to offer. It is famous for their fish head curry which is very huge in portion. We ordered the buddy meal which comprises a pot of curry chicken and a pot of curry vegetables with two rice and two barley drinks. It is pretty reasonable as it all added up only to $13. I didn't want to try their signature as it would be too much then for two persons.

The curry gravy was smooth in texture and the spiciness was still acceptable. However, I used to eat the yellowish kind of curry while the version here looked reddish like The Masala. Overall the place was quite generous with the portion of meat, vegetables and toupok in the curry. It definitely would appeal much to my curry fan friend haha.. but hmm not me and also to those who would actually prefer the usual yellowish curry gravy lol

Mediocre food Cry Feb 28, 2014

The restaurant is a new face in Suntec City, easily located near the Fountain of Wealth.

A very spacious restaurant with ample seatings. Decided to give it a try despite being relatively deserted on a Sunday afternoon.

Tried the signature Grilled Chicken and the Prawn and Mushroom hotplate. The grilled chicken was bland and dry while on the other hand, the hotplate was decent but was nothing fantastic.

The items on the free flow salad bar were quite limited and mediocre. Surprisingly, the item I liked the most was its croissants, buttery and flaky enough.

In general, food quality is really mediocre. But with its spacious setting, the place would be good for big group dining.

Worth a Try!! Smile Feb 27, 2014

On passing by the restaurant, my attention was drawn to the bright and colorful gay outlook of the whole place. Standing at the entrance of the entrance, my attention was then redirected to the appealing big menu signboard.

Heard the first branch of Eggs and Berries at Changi City Point is not bad, now that it is strategically located all the way to the west nearby where I stayed, I was delighted to head off to the place for a visit. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Leg ($18.90) which consists of a broiled boneless chicken leg, fries and a poached egg. The meat was juicy and tender while the chicken skin was flavoured with Cajun spices. The poached egg was executed nicely just the way it should be. But I wondered how would the egg complement the dish. I ate the egg along with a pancake which I took from my friend's plate haha lol

My friend had the Steak and Egg ($18.90). The whole plate was an appealing mix of steak, sunny side up, buttermilk pancakes, rosti, baked beans and mixed greens. Everything was near to perfection with the salivating aroma and flavorful gravy sauce.

Eggs and berries serves good decent quality food. The environment with its bright gay vibrancy adds on to a pleasant overall dining experience lol
