As good as Togi Chinatown ^^ Smile Nov 15, 2013

Hunting for Korean food around Orchard? There are Sarang and Nolboo in Orchard Central but I would recommend Togi as the best option out of all hehe lol

Relatively new to the district, Togi's mother branch in Chinatown has been around for quite some time and is known as one of the best restaurants for Korean food.

Visiting this new branch for the first time, I had a great dining experience just as similarly in the Togi in Chinatown BUT minus the crowd and less attentive service. To state it more clearly, the Togi here in Somerset has really good service with really friendly staff, I mean really indeed ^^

Apart from good attentive service, food did not disappoint either. The Glass Noodle and Beef ($12) was a good appetizing mix as starter. Ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap and Ginseng Chicken soup. The Bibimbap was alright but missing the hot stone pot taste sadly as the hot pot was not hot enough most probably. The whole chicken in the soup was tender enough but the soup was actually lacking of the ginseng smack. I remember there used to be ginseng accompanied along in the soup but there wasn't any then. Probably it was removed before being served.

Food-wise, besides the Beef Glass-noodles, the another highlight would be the side dishes which comprised my favorite mushrooms. In fact, I don't remember having mushrooms as one of the side dishes in all the Korean restaurants I have been to. I love mushrooms so certainly it was a delight ^^

Good service, food was not too bad with just some slight misses but reasonably-priced smile a Yeah head on down if you have some Korean cravings ;)

Satisfactory Ramen Smile Nov 15, 2013

Itching for my Ramen fix again, I am glad there is a Marutama outlet here in Somerset. It came as my second alternative considering the long queue at Santouka at Cuppage nearby. Yeah it did not disappoint indeed.

Ordered the Green Spicy Ramen with add-on topping Tamago ($13.50) while my friend had the CurrySteak with rice ($19) plus an additional side dish of Agadeshi Tofu. I felt more than satisfied after finishing my bowl of hot ramen ^^ Noodles was alright, nothing extraordinary. But I like the broth, flavorful sweet with a tinge of spiciness making the soup even more palatable lol Tamago was the highlight too, very nicely done with a sizeable runny-semisolid yolk ^^ The slice of pork was nothing extraordinary, not as tender as I would hope for

One can give the Agadeshi Tofu a miss, it was a tad too expensive in fact >< The Curry Steak was not too bad if you looking for something more filling.

Situated along Kiliney road, the area was pretty quiet at night, even during the weekends smile

Poulet = Awesome Roasted Chicken Smile Oct 22, 2013

Ahh I think there are not many French eating places in Singapore actually, at least they are not as common as others like Japanese or Korean restaurants. So it was my first dining experience of French cuisine in Singapore.

I am not really too adventurous with food. I think escargots is really a tad too exotic for me therefore typical of me, I ordered the more "normal'" food like their signature Rotisserie Poulet Roti ($28.80 for whole). But in fact most of the menu choices are really just "normal", would not be able to tell it being French cuisine in particular if it were not of the inclusion of escargots.

Anyway, I enjoyed it very much. The Mushroom Chardonnay sauce was flavorful but yet not too gelat. The chicken was tender even for the breast meat part. A perfect combination along with the mushrooms, thumbs up hehe

An haha I love my mushroom so much that I have mushrooms for appetizer. It came along with a poached egg on top lol

Poulét means chicken in French actually. But besides their chicken star dish, there are other meat dishes too. Tried the Oxtail de Bourguinon ($15.80). Supposedly it is beef stew in Burgundy red wine but hmm I could not taste a slightest tinge of any red wine in the sauce. It was tender but I find it too plain tasting. It was not really worth the price.

I would definitely return for their star dish. They are expanding with more branches now islandwide.

New Mini Yam topping! Worth a try Smile Feb 28, 2014

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Koi has a new addition to its range of toppings, namely the mini yam. I have stopped taking pearls and usually only choose grass jelly or aloe Vera as topping. Wondering how yam would complement my Oolong milk tea instead of the usual grass jelly, I ordered it with mini yam.

The yam pieces were indeed mini. It was quite good, so QQ and chewy. But, from its texture, I would think it is made with glutinous powder or some kind of starch rather than being just pure yam alone. So I gotta be wary of its calories 😣

Anyway, I would think it is a better tasting option than pearls. It has the mild sweetness of Taro and the chewy QQ addictive texture. lol

The stall serves YongTauFoo with a special brown gravy with minced pork. The gravy has a slight sweetness in it and it goes well with the noodles and the YongTauFoo.

A set comes with noodles in the gravy and six pieces, costs $5.30. The YongTauFu are all fresh and good though nothing much fantastic mad. But I like the noodles in the gravy with minced pork which adds on a palatable taste to the whole dish lol chopstick
