Despite the nostalgic notion of the restaurant name, I was pleasantly surprised at the technology which are found in this Bak Kut Teh place.

Firstly, there are two induction cooker plates installed under the table so one can continue heating up the soup. Secondly, there are also two iPads installed under each table. So one just have to pull out the drawer to get access to the menu and place orders. Seatings here are all spacious. Service here is quick, the staff are approachable and attentive. I didn't have to wait for too long to get soup topped up.

Ordered a small Dry Bak Kut Teh ($9.10) which is one of the recommended dish. It is the first time I heard of a dry version, I guess it is one of their innovative creation. It was served in a clay pot and actually I think it was more like a Claypot Pork Ribs. The dark-coloured sauce was nothing distinctly-flavoured. It came with some Okra but didn't have the slimy texture. Overall, the dish was nothing extraordinary, I would have preferred to spend it on the normal soup version of Bak Kut Teh.

A big bowl of Pork Ribs soup costs $10.40. The portion of pork ribs was generous enough for me and my friend. The meat was tender while the soup was full of flavour. It was not too peppery, unlike how overwhelmingly peppery the soup is in some other places In addition, I was very happy to see the various sauces displayed at the counter in the center. I like the one with the minced soybean indeed to complement the meat.For side dishes, I ordered Tang O (a type of uncommon vegetables) and a bowl of 梅菜. The portion of Tang O ($7.80) was really small since it is usually quite more expensive as compared to other more common types of veggie. The 梅菜 was appetizing and tasted not too salty.In conclusion, I am more than satisfied with the food here. I might be slightly biased haha as I really like the minced Soybean sauce. I would surely return to the place since it is conveniently located near my house. But hmm maybe would give the Dry Bak Kut Teh a miss ><

A French cum Japanese restaurant, a new face in the market recently. My female friends recommended strongly the Famous French Toast which kept me wondering how nice it could be.

Headed to the Westgate outlet on a Saturday evening. Got a table fairly quickly without much waiting. Brightly lit and cushy seats with several separate carrels gives one a comfortable dining feeling. Quite a good setting for family or big group dining.

Menu is quite limited though. For mains, it is either pasta or rice. Had the Miam Miam Spaghetti ($15.80). Every mouthful was flavorful with the lightly sautéed taste of its secret broth, Shoyu and butter. It is justifiably one of the recommended ones.Had the French Toast too of course as strongly recommended by my friend. There was a dollop of fresh cream on top which tasted light and not too sweet. Complemented perfectly with the bread, and came also with Maple syrup in a small side bottle for extra sweetness if preferred. The bread was soft and fluffy. However I don't really see why it is worth to pay $9.80++ for just a few chunks of soft French toast. It is just bread with egg coating. Besides that, tried the original souffle pancake ($8.80) as well but again, it was unimpressive at all. Just a small normal pancake, quite fluffy though, but was too plain and I took only a quarter of it. Don't bother trying this really..

Overall, slightly above average food quality for some of the dishes but food all are fresh. So food waiting time can be long sometimes. Worth a try except the Soufflé Pancake. Great seating arrangement for group dining as well.

As the name suggests, the restaurant is an establishment by the celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Not being an avid fan of him, I was quite skeptical to hear all the raved reviews and the snaky long queues of the restaurant.

Headed over for dinner on a Friday night without any reservation. Although the restaurant can take up to 200 persons, I had to wait supposedly initially for around 30min for a table. But luckily the wait turned out to be shorter otherwise I would have given up waiting.

From the entrance of the restaurant, I didn't realize the place being really expansive upon walking in. There are alfresco seats as well. The overall atmosphere felt quite laid-back and relaxing with the dim lightings, wooden tables and comfy seats.

Ordered the FISH antipasti ($17) as appetizer which consisted of breaded fish, few small slices of cheese, pickles and salad. It was quite a let-down, I could not the least bit appreciate the dish at all. The breaded fish were all cold and slightly hard while the salad was kinda tasteless. Portion was really small for an appetizer. I understand that it was supposed to be fine dining so it explained the portion size but I think the food quality was nowhere near fine.However, on a brighter note, despite the miss with the appetizer, I think the pasta I had was not too bad. I had the JOOLS’ Favourite Silician Tuna Fusili ($21.00 for the bigger portion). The whole plate of fusili was really appetizing along with small chunks of fresh Albacore Tuna. Every bit of the Fusili was flavorful, I guess this is because it was slow-cooked with tomatoes and some herbs.

Ordered Italian Farm Sausage ($24.50) as another mains. Grilled pork sausage came in the form of a skewer with sweet & sour peppers and capers in between. The sausage was just ordinary despite claimed to be flavored with red wine and spices. It was in fact a bit too salty. Quite a flop especially considering its price, definitely not worth at all.Tried out the Tutti Frutti Lemon Meringue ($11.50) for desserts. It was quite decent and appetizing because of the sourish limoncello. But it tasted a bit too sweet actually. I always feel that sweetness should be really mild in lemony desserts.Overall, I was unimpressed with the food despite an initial good impression from some of the raved reviews about the restaurant. Some hits and misses, would not head back again as I think I would be able to get the same food quality at a lower price range.

Paleo diet comprises food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, including fresh meats, fish, seafood, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Food such as dairy
products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods would be ousted out. Thus, it is a wholesome healthy diet.

This diet trend is picked up by healthy advocators such as the owner of the Cavemen's diet. And it is reasonably-priced as well as opposed to the notion that healthy food is usually tagged with higher pricing

Tried the Grilled Whole Chicken half Italian and half Mexican version with two side dishes ($18.90 plus a drink). Both versions were equally palatable after being marinated with herbs and spices. The chicken meat was tender and juicy. It was simply awesome and you can indulge feeling assured that no MSG nor artificial flavorings were used. For sides, had pumpkin and salad. I love the pumpkin especially with its subtle sweetness and its soft yet toothsome texture.The only flip side is its limited dining area. The stall has no dining tables of its own but some nearby F&B outlets allow the stall's customers to dine at their own dining area. So takeaway will be more appropriate though inconvenient. This also accounts for its reasonable price.

Another new Ramen joint, operating nearby a few other competitive Ramen restaurants just within a stone's throw away like the Keisuke Tori King. Therefore, as a marketing strategy of this new restaurant, there was an offer spanned for the past three days whereby the place gave out its first 100 bowls of ramen FOC!!Well I didn't miss the opportunity since I was just nearby the area and there wasn't any long snaky queue at all when I arrived. The place was easily located just opposite Orchid Hotel.

Had the Tonkotsu Ramen with additional topping of Tamago. And it was simply good especially the broth which tasted not overly rich but flavorful enough! I am quite sick of ramen broth which is salty and rich. As for the noodles, one can opt for the texture to be hard, normal or soft. The meat slices was tender.This would be another good place for a piping flavorful Ramen The restaurant claims to be the 2 years No. 1 ramen in Ramen Champion and is best known for Tonkotsu-based ramen, made from pork bones and simmered for many hours.

I would definitely head back to try their spicy rendition hehe, known as God's Fire LOL. The place has quite a variety, including rice. And there is also free-flow hard-boiled eggs
