Okonomiyaki! Smile Dec 18, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

My 2nd time visiting Watami in a month, for which both time I was in some circumstances for which I wasn't able to order the usual number of dishes I usually do. This time I visited the outlet at Ion Orchard and for all I remember, the queue there is always long in the evening.

Have ordered the Mochi Cheese Okonomiyaki to share with my friend. This savoury Japanese pancake with mochi cheese was so filling we were both full even before finishing half of it. The batter was mixed properly such that I didn't taste anything bad but for some reasons, I didn't really like it. But my friend enjoyed it, probably because he's a cheese and pancake lover at the same time.

Overall, I love the environment at Watami and do hope that I would be able to order more during my next visit.

St. Louis Pork Ribs Smile Dec 18, 2013

After a movie at Golden Village, it was already quite late and my friend and I didn't want to walk far for food. We went into Cafe Cartel which was right infront of us.

I ordered their St. Louis Pork Ribs ($15.60), which is an award winning spare ribs roasted with the restaurant's homemade BBQ sauce, served with side salad and wedges. The meat are tender and easy to separate from the bone, it was a very filling dish so I ended up giving 1/4 to my friend.

He ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Hotplate ($15.60), which came in sizzling well. The chicken is also grilled to tender rightness paired with vegetables and wedges.

Overall, the food were good but not exceptionally great. But can always be a good choice for a decent dinner.

Oishi Experience at Shokudo! Smile Dec 18, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Café | Kids-Friendly

Chanced upon Shokudo Japanese Coffee House not long ago and the restaurant concept from outside looks great. I wasn't sure of the menu initially but decided to just get a table and try anyway. My buddy and I decided to get the same thing, the Chicken Curry Omu Rice, which was a great choice!

The fragrant rice is cooked with tomato paste to enhance the taste to go along with the soft and fluffy omelette. The perfectly grilled chicken was also generously large and seasoned well with teriyaki sauce. The curry that I've poured it over later on brings the dish to a whole new level. Overall, this was a memorable experience for which we enjoyed a truly wholesome meal.

Wow Tako! Smile Dec 18, 2013

Categories : Japanese

Was hungry on a typical weekend night and since most of the restaurants and foodcourt here at Northpoint have ridiculously long queue at 7pm, I decided to get some takoyaki at Wow Tako for my dinner!

Takoyaki are always good as snack but filling enough to go as light dinner. They always have many different ones to choose from and I always get the octopus one. 3 costs $2.50 and 4 costs $3 so I opted for the latter.

They were packed hot and tasted great, didn't have the floury taste and were chewy on the good side. Love it!

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Dinner)

Omurice! Smile Dec 18, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Noodles

Kazokutei is one of Osaka’s most well known brands for its high quality handmade udon. However, it was a relatively hot day and my buddy and I decided to order the same item.

The Tofu Hamburger Combo Omurice ($12.90) looked really appetizing from the menu and we both got the same thing. I really enjoyed the french onion soup it comes with, seasoned to perfection and really opens up all appetite. The tofu hamburger was also tender and moist while the fries were not greasy and really yummy. The star of the dish, the omurice, was amazing as well but I wished that its thicker than it is.
