Should Have Tried More! Smile Dec 17, 2013

It's actually pretty weird that I came here for lunch yet I didn't order any mains. Japanese restaurants tend to always have a wide variety of selection that sometimes it's hard to know what you want. It was a lazy afternoon so we decided to get desserts instead.

The Chocolate Parfait ($6.80) was incredible. The taste of milk was so amazing it kept me wondering what kind of milk do they use? Would definitely return again for more. Would definitely try out their milk pudding the next time as well.

Old Taiwan Eatery! Smile Dec 17, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Juices

Situated at a cosy corner at Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre, this little cafe serves some good selection of Taiwanese and local food and bubble tea. Dishes start from simple ones such as braised minced pork rice, scissors curry rice to curry chicken and bubble tea.

I've always wanted to try their curry chicken rice, but it's always sold out everytime I visit after 6pm. So most of the times I'll get myself their Braised Minced Pork Rice, it should cost around $4-5 where it comes with bubble tea of your choice. I won't recommend buying the drink on its own if you're not eating, it's pretty watery. But their food are great!

Hidden Gem at Far East! Smile Dec 17, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

It was the kind of rainy night that my friend and I were unable to decide what to eat. We were wondering around for a really long time at Far East Plaza till the point we were starving and my friend decided to just try this place.

We got the Assorted Sushi Set which was beautifully plated and served. I can't remember the price of this but most of the sets are from $15-20. So this may be pricey for its portion but the fish were sooooo fresh!

We also got the Salmon Set. The salmon was so freshly grilled it's one of the best I've tried despite its average appearance. Good quality Japanese rice was also used.

Overall, this is an authentic Japanese place where customers sit in a rectangular layout facing the chef. It is a memorable experience, a hidden gem at Far East Plaza indeed.

Heart Shaped Waffle! Smile Dec 17, 2013

Got myself a pretty heart shaped waffle in one of the school's canteens. This Chicken Floss Heart Shaped Waffle ($1.60) was kind of interesting, not only in appearance but the filling actually matches the waffle really well as well.

Although the waffle may not be as crispy as it should be, the savoury flavour from the chicken floss helps in it's rating. The stall also sells Belgian and big bite waffles along with other interesting flavours.

Was craving for something warm and spicy on a rainy day and decided to head down to Northpoint's Dong Dae Mun for their Spicy Rice Cakes ($3.50)! The price seemed to have increased as compared to last year when it was still $3 but I guess it's alright since you don't get to find any spicy rice cakes as convenient as from this place, unless you prepare it your own I guess?

Since my boyfriend was hungry and he don't take spicy, I got him the Chicken Meatball ($3 for 2) which were fried nicely but perhaps needed more flavouring because it's pretty average on its own, but overall I would definitely return for more spicy rice cakes!
