Dining at Canopy! Smile Nov 17, 2013

When someone recommended me to try out Canopy Garden Dining & Bar, my first question was "Okay where?" I was surprised to not know about this place because Bishan Park 2 is pretty near where I stay, might have been because I prefer to travel further places to eat. Anyway! I found a day to go there for brunch! They do have different menus for dinner and also a rock bar experience at night!

My buddy got the Chicken Parmigiana for which I'm unsure about the price but definitely around $20. Would be better if restaurants like this showcase their prices on their website. The nicely breaded chicken thigh was fried to the right timing for optimized juiciness, which was then topped with tomato basil sauce, cheddar and parmesan cheese. There's need to match with the tomato ketchup that came with it, but overall it tasted like pizza and fried chicken all at once which is kind of interesting! The fries and salad that came with it were okay.

I was craving for omega that day and went ahead and ordered the Pan Seared Snapper which costs around $20 as well. Served hot with tomato olive salsa and mashed potato, the fish tasted really fresh and awesome. The skin was perfectly seared to the loveliest crisp yet the meat did not get overcooked. The portion is a little small for its price but I believe I'm buying quality and techniques over quantity alone. Highly recommended!

Overall, the ambience at Canopy is really relaxing for people to chill and just lounge around with the cleaner air in the park. Service was alright as the young part timer who served us that day were pleasantly friendly. I would want to return at night for both food and drinks!

Chicken in the Fish Market! Smile Nov 17, 2013

So my food buddy and I had experienced some food dilemma one day and we somehow passed by Northpoint's Manhattan Fish Market and just went ahead and get a table without much thoughts.

It was a cold rainy night which somehow made us say no to seafood for some reasons. Both of us got the Chicken of Liberty ($13.95) which is one of our favourites to order there. Accompanied with fragrant garlic herb rice and healthy garden vegetables, the grilled Cajun chicken breast are always juicy and flavourful, even the skin tasted yummy. The spicy sour sauce and lemon that came with it were also pleasantly helpful in enhancing the overall flavour of the dish.

Overall, this order did a great job cheering up our day!

Gourmet Pizzas-On-The-Go! Smile Nov 17, 2013

I've heard many great raves about Pezzo for some time now and have finally found a chance to get something there! Their pizza comes in individual slices but you can also buy the whole pizza at a valued price.

When I was there, the staff told me that I could get 3 slices of pizza at $11.90 but since I already had a filling dinner and just wanted to try, I only got a slice of Hola Haiwaiian ($4.50). The staff was kind of funny and joked about saying "No one has ever got satisfied with just one." And then I received a high quality box like this which reminds me of circus for some reasons.

The Hola Haiwaiian is one of their hot favorites containing turkey ham, bacon and sweet pineapples topped with cheddar and mozzarella cheese. The pizza was served warm and I knew from the first bite that it's made fresh on that day. The crust was crispy and nice yet it managed to maintain that soft texture that isn't hard to chew like other pizzas in the country. The toppings were all really scrumptiously flavourful, a true Haiwaiian pizza on a whole new level, I hadn't had anything like that in long while, it's gourmet!

The box that came with it isn't just for the looks, there's 2 lines of folds which you can see when you open it and you'll save all the mess when you know how to eat it like this! How convenient!

And the thing about Pezzo is that they only operate as a standalone stall and do not offer any seatings, but that's good and bad too as the good means pizzas-on-the-go and delivery services! I've had my Pezzo at Star Vista and when getting a slice of great pizza comes with lovely view of the mall decorations, it's a fantastic experience.

I am seriously considering getting some Pezzos delivered to me tonight. Anyone?

Best Chicken of my Life! Smile Nov 17, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : French | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Roasted Meat

This might be one of the best places I have ever reviewed about ever since I started reviewing on OpenRice! So basically I'm a huge chicken fan and most of the food items I order would be chicken like 80% of the time.

Poulet's best dish is their Poulet Roti (Whole - $28.80, Half - $15.80) which is their signature roasted chicken. The well-marinated chicken is slow roasted to golden brown perfection with traditional French recipe, that recipe creator may just be the best person on Earth because this, I would say, deserves more than 5 stars! The mushroom Chardonnay sauce that came with it is probably the best I've ever tasted my whole life. The creamy luscious consistency complements really well with the chicken which gives you a heavenly taste of French!

As for desserts, I went ahead and ordered the Profiteroles ($7.80) which is basically 2 generously filled choux puffs with scoops of vanilla icecream, drizzled with warm chocolate sauce then topped with almond flakes. This may not be awesome to be considered a must-order dessert so I'll definitely try out other desserts like their jarred tiramisu next time I visit.

Overall, this casual dining restaurant with modern alfresco seatings ambience along with great service and menu offerings will always remain on my favorites list! Can't wait for my food buddy to confirm on our next visit!

High End Chicken Rice! Smile Nov 16, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Hainanese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

What is the maximum amount you'll be willing to pay for a plate of chicken rice from a foodcourt? My precious workplace was at Marina Bay Sands, The Shoppes and there are times when I crave for simple local fare.

Located at a prominent area with high tourist traffic, rental is considerably high for the stalls at Rasapura Masters, but vendors are selectively picked so Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice is one of them.

The Roasted Chicken Rice ($6.80) may be a tad bit pricey but it's backed with high quality fragrant rice and tender flavourful roasted chicken. The chicken meat are pleasurably thick and the chilli which came with it was nicely blended with different sweet, sour and spicy spices which enhances everything else.

Would I pay for this again? Definitely!
