Go Hungry at Paris! Smile Nov 09, 2013

Although Paris Baguette is always crowded and adopts the self-service concept, I always find myself returning for their food!

I would always get myself the Seafood Chowder ($6) which is creamy and full of flavour topped with a fresh shrimp. The portion is just right so you would not get too full and would have space for other items.

The Original Royal Pudding ($4) is a must have everytime I visit! There's other flavours like strawberry and mango and I would also occasionally get them as solo take-away items if the place is too crowded. If you've never tried this, you're missing out a lot in life.

I've also tried the Camembert Cheesecake ($6), which is a blend of cream cheese and other ingredients that gave it a distinctive taste. Worth the try but you may get tired of the taste after awhile if you don't share it with someone else.

Overall, this place is great, love the food and overall experience, totally a loyal customer. But the place would definitely be better if they have a larger space and more outlets in the future!

Dim Sum Night! Smile Nov 09, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

So my girlfriends and I decide to drive out for supper on a Friday night & Swee Choon was the first thing that came to our minds. We reached there around 1am and there were no more tables in the aircon area so we opted for the outside. Good food are worth the little sacrifice!

First thing to order is always the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao -4pc ($3.50), we will never say no to these. Tasty succulent meat that are goodly packed in the little firm but thin soup dumplings.

And then there's the Sichuan Chili Oil Wanton -4pc ($3.50) which is not too spicy but still delivers the right amount of flavours, a must try too.

The thing about Swee Choon is that the menu, however you look at it, it just never gets dull! There's always things that you can never get tired of and have to come back no matter how many times you've tried. The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun -3pc ($3.60) is what I highly rave about to people. I won't comment, but do judge by the golden filling!

We've also ordered a lot of other things that sums up our bill to around $68, for pax of 4 it was really cheap. It was up to the point where we were too full and couldn't finish. Definitely one of the the most affordable dim sum places in Singapore!

A wonderful place that I wish would remain for many years to come. Would definitely be nostalgic to return with old friends or family for any form of gathering!

Thumbs Up Sakae! Smile Oct 25, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

So just the other day I happened to be at Northpoint and was craving kind of badly for Japanese cuisine. Decided to have an awesome dinner at Sakae Sushi. The queue was long as usual and my buddy and I had to wait a good 10 minutes for the table with the ordering screen, but you don't have to wait that long for the other tables.
Sakae Ju ($13.99)

Sakae Ju ($13.99)

So I've gotten Sakae Ju ($13.99) which is basically rice topped with lightly grilled savoury salmon mayo, salmon sashimi and spicy salmon. I'm not a fan for salmon but I ordered it just to try it out, really awesome. But this dish is definitely great for salmon lovers.
Saba Nitsuke & Tebasaki ($18.99)

Saba Nitsuke & Tebasaki ($18.99)

My buddy ordered his Saba Nitsuke & Tebasaki ($18.99), which comes with a nice little bowl of rice that shouts "Itakakimasu!" along with a really good simmered mackerel that gives great omega as well as good old honey chicken wings. Simply delectable.
Miso Soup

Miso Soup

Both rice sets come with a bowl of miso soup that has the right consistency of dashi and miso paste. Unlike other restaurants, Sakae Sushi's miso soup gives you the a reasonable generous amount of kept and tofu.
Pink Plate ($4.29)

Pink Plate ($4.29)

Since we sit right next to the sushi conveyor belt, we got ourselves a Pink Plate ($4.29), I am not too sure what's this called but I mean it tasted amazing and is kind of photogenic. So it's awesome!

For desserts! Like seriously they changed their menu so much for the better, they now offer really good stuff.
Kyoto Matcha Azuki Monata & Mochi Ice Cream

Kyoto Matcha Azuki Monata & Mochi Ice Cream

Above is the Kyoto Matcha Azuki Monaka ($4.99) which is a half green tea and half red bean waffle icecream. The icecream could stay inside for awhile without melting & it's kind of fuss-free too. It's like one of the best I've tried. Along with it is some Mochi Ice Cream -2pc ($4.99), I don't prefer mochi alone but mochi with ice cream filling? That's the best. We got the green tea ones but they are also available in red bean, strawberry and mango flavours. But one feedback?

Overall, my experience at Sakae Sushi (Northpoint) was really good compared to my previous experience of bad service and mediocre food. This time round was superb with great service, great food, great ambience and new awesome menu that leaves people with never ending choices! Maybe they should change their dessert plate because the design is kind of not matching to everything else. Still, thumbs up to the new management system for it's overall improvements. I'll definitely return for other items on that menu.

Your Own Sushi Smile Oct 20, 2013

Fancy having control of what ingredients you want in your sushi or salad? Maki-San is the place to go. Being conveniently located at The Cathay, this place has a very unique and interesting marketing concept that attracts the crowd.

It has a pretty hassle-free self-service style too, you simply tick what ingredients you want on an simple and neat order form, pass it to the cashier for payment, collect a queue number, have a seat & collect your food soon after.

For sushi, you get to choose between Little-San ($6.90) and Mega-San ($9.90). Mega-San gives you additional 2 Essential & 1 Special ingredient so I've chosen that.

My ingredients for Mega-San includes:
1 Wrap - Traditional Nori Seaweed
1 Rice - Healthy Brown Rice
5 Essentials - Tamagoyaki (Japanese Omelette), Avocado, Carrot, Kani Stick (Crabstick) & Tobiko (Flying Fish Roe)
1 Special - Teriyaki Chicken
1 Sprinkle - Roasted Almond Flakes
1 Housesauce - BBQ
Mega-San ($9.90)

Mega-San ($9.90)

The sushi comes in a really cute looking box which you can bring home and reuse it if you want. Overall, the sushi was great and the ingredients were fresh too, the rolling skills can be improved but nevertheless, everything else was near perfection, they have pretty friendly staff too. Moreover, having my own customized sushi is just way too awesome!

On a calorie-diet? Smoothie King not only helps you keep track of your calories but goes the extra mile of serving you with healthier menu choices.

Only gotten myself this Berry Beautiful ($5-7) on my first visit, just to have a try. The contents in this cup are just so amazing I don't know how to describe in words. Well basically this is the perfect smooth blend of blueberries, yogurt, blueberry purée, electrolyte mix and beauty collagen! All at 177calories! So filled with great nutritious stuff that it's totally worth the money.

Another awesome point I appreciate about Smoothie King is their really detailed website, I believe all kinds of eateries should have one so much so that foodies like us can plan for their future visits. Well, for this place, I will definitely return for other healthy flavours!
