Headed down to Naked Fish Shoppe one day during school's break hours because my friends and I were all tired of school food. This restaurant pretty much serve a vast selection of fish and seafood prepared in different ways, from deep-fried, grilled, pan-fried, baked or poached. I have came here several times before and although the fish and chips may be affordable on the student's menu, I didn't enjoy it.

So I've ordered the Chicken Baked Rice this time around and found that it's much better than the fish. Although the taste of cheese may get tiring after half the dish, the chicken portion was generous and were nicely seasoned and grilled that actually reminded me of the Singapore's chicken rice taste, in a cheese baked rice form. But as compared to other places like food court, this is considered quite average. Overall, service was always bad here and it may probably because business was always brisk from all the students' visits. If I were to ever need to visit this place for lunch again, I may try to give their fish and chips another chance. Otherwise, I'll just stick to this.

I'm not a ramen expert but I am an all-time all-rounded Japanese food lover and have huge love over ramen. Heard that Tampopo is popular for their black pig's ramen and hence I visited there not long ago to try out their Black Pig's King Ramen. I'm unsure of the price but it's definitely cheaper than many ramen places out there. To my disappointment, I liked everything except for its broth, and ramen is known for its broth. Perhaps I went there on a wrong day but both my buddy and I didn't like the light broth that lacked complexity in flavour. However, the portion was generous and the ingredients used were of high quality. The noodle was springly and the pork were sliced and seasoned to the optimum taste. We also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken to share, I can't remember the price but I remembered that this was too expensive for its portion, almost $7 if I'm not wrong. Definitely something that can be skipped. Overall, it was a relatively average experience, but I like to believe that its just one of wrong days. I may visit the outlet at Liang Court next time to hopefully get a better experience.

PastaMania is one of my least favourite places to go but this doesn't mean its bad, I just find that I always have very average experience here. So whenever I have to dine here, it's because my friend wants to.

I don't enjoy the pasta selection so I simply went with the Basil Chicken Aglio, she had her choice of Linguine while I had my Penne. The pasta was cooked well with good texture that's neither too over nor under cooked. The sauce was a tad bit oily but the basil flavour is there. I didn't like the minced chicken that well because it was quite salty. Overall, as much as I agree that this place is perfect for decent pasta at affordable prices, its not my kind of place to go.

So I've recently went on a ramen hunt and since Ramenplay is one of the more popular ramen joints in the country, I set my feet into the 2-storey outlet at Bishan. 

I've ordered their signature Sanpou Ramen (Tonkotsu), whereby this deliciously presented bowl contain three treasures of braised pork cheek, braised pork belly in special sauce and charsiew sauce. This hearty bowl is filled with a very flavourful broth boiled and simmered for more than 10 hours in order to achieve it's rich consistency. I love all the ingredients that it contains along with the springy textured noodles that's not too thin nor thick for my liking. The perfectly soft boiled egg is also the best that I saved for the last. Always a great place to go!

Japanese style buffet at affordable price? You may want to consider Chiso Zanmai. The adult price on a weekend afternoon was only $19.90++

The restaurant has a splendid selection of food going from sushi and sashimi, cold section, hot section to nice variety of Japanese desserts. I really enjoyed he pork belly which were seaslned and braised to perfection. The others were relatively okay, I regretted not being able to try the curry because there was a long queue for it.
I believe I've taken their matcha pudding more than 10 times at least? It was really good! And they were constantly refilling the empty parts too. Plates were cleared efficiently and service at all stations were amazing. Food was great and the variety is a plus point. I will see myself returning soon.
