I first tried Arnor Crepes (阿諾可麗餅) at Taipei's 師大夜市 & is excited to know there's a franchise in SG now! I caught sight of their stall located at the basement of City Square Mall while shopping. I had wanted to try their signature crepe ~ Arnor Signature Mango Sundae but they had ran out of mangoes for the night. Hence, we settled for their Fruit Paradise Sundae ($7.90) and topped up $2 for their Premium Macadamia Nut Ice-cream at the recommendation of the boss.

The Fruit Paradise served here is exactly the same size as I had in Taipei! Mind you, it's big & good enough to share between my friend & I. The fruits include slices of banana, peaches & kiwi, together with the Signature Round Biscuit from Arnor + 2 choco sticks. My friend & I really love the Macadamia Nut ice-cream which is very rich & creamy, heard that only Sg use this premium ice-cream thou.

Currently Arnor Crepes is having a soft launch, we were lucky to get a free quarter size Belgian Waffle with Lava Brownie to try, which is their Signature item as well (the full set will cost $5.90 + $2). The waffle remained crispy even after some time on the table, I can count it as the Best Waffle in SG now!

On their menu, I also noticed they sell savoury crepes & I was told that they are having Turkey Ham Crepe for this Christmas Season! I really couldn't stomach more as I had dinner prior to this & the crepe + waffle all together were really filling! They also just added salad (including potato salad) to their menu today.

Next round, I shall go there earlier to try their Mango Sundae!

Simply Heavenly Mille Crepes!  Smile Nov 24, 2013

Categories : American | Café | Desserts and Cakes

I had marked down Lady M Confections as my Must Try dessert place before it was officially opened at Marina Square! After 2 months wait, I finally got to try it with my buddy today. We are both cheesecake lovers!

Lady M's popularity can be seen by the queue outside & we joined its queue at around 9pm. There were 3 groups of people ahead of us & we were glad that we got into the café after 10mins. The whole café is generally bright with its clean & no fuss décor which is pure white with orange ambient lights. I noticed that the tables were all space apart to allow ample personal space. My friend & I got a table at the end of the café which was abit dim thou.

As we browsed the menu, I set my mind to try Lady M's signature Mille Crepes, which feature no less than 20 layers of paper-thin handmade crepes filled with light pastry cream. The waiter told us that they had ran out of the Strawberry Mille Crepes & Mango Cake! What a pity! Cos we thought of ordering the strawberry version too! Hence, my friend settled for the Strawberry Shortcake instead. We also ordered a Cranberry juice.

It took awhile for our cakes to arrive & upon trying a bite of the original Mille Crepes, I could feel the fresh cream melting in my mouth & it's not too sweet. Perfect! It takes a lot of effort to prepare a Mille Crepes, hence it is slightly more expensive than the usual cheesecake - $7.50. I also like the slightly burnt caramelised end of the cake which compliment the light cream very well.

I also tried the Strawberry Shortcake which oozes a soft, fluffy texture; with slices of strawberries on top & in-between the cake. However, I find that the strawberries are abit sour which I would prefer the sweeter ones! But my friend likes it. The Cranberry juice was ok & refreshing.

Overall, the service was good & staff will address the customer by name when presenting the bill. The Mille Crepes are simply heavenly and we will surely return again!

My Favourite Udon Eatery!  Smile Oct 16, 2013

Categories : Japanese

I came to know about Tamoya Udon from its Facebook page. This is my 2nd visit to Tamoya, however is my first try at the Chinatown Point outlet. This outlet is located at Basement 1, near to Uniqlo. My first impression of this outlet is its spaciousness.

Tamoya's style of ordering is you get to pick & match your choice of tempura from the bar counter. There is quite a variety to suit different taste! Personally, I go for the Ebi Tempura, Shitake Mushrooms & Potato Tempura. I like to share the various tempura with my friend. This trip was mainly to check out its Beef Udon (Kake Style).

Upon selecting your choice of tempura/sides, you just need to hand over to the counter & make your payment. Next, head over to the condiments section for some garnishing such as the crispy flakes, wakame seaweed and sauce. There is also free flow of ice water and soup refill available.

My first reaction when I tried the beef slices, it's simply oishiitongue! The thin slices of sweet & salty beef were cooked just right; not too stiff & the taste suits my taste bud perfectly! The hand-made udon immersed in the light Kake broth was chewy! yummy! Even my friend who is not a 100% beef lover agreed with me that the beef udon is nice!

I will return again to Tamoya to try its other dishes, maybe the Curry Udon next round!

A Must Try for Hotdog Lovers! Smile Nov 28, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
I noticed this newly opened gourmet hotdog kiosk ~ The Mustard Incident at CK Tangs basement when it started operations 2 weeks ago. I was attracted to the aroma of the hotdog that were being prepared by their chef thru' a see-thru glass. The bright yellow signage together with a tongue-in-cheek name provides visual appeal too! Well, we all will auto link mustard sauce to hotdogs right?

Today I finally got to try out two of its gourmet hotdogs, namely the Hawt Dog ($9) & The Frankenstein ($10). The Hawt Dog is basically a spicy pork sausage dressed in TMI hot sauce, tomato & onion relish. Thou I have a low threshold for spiciness, I could still manage to eat this Hawt Dog without drowning water! Maybe for those who really love spicy, they need to order extra hot sauce!
The Frankenstein

The Frankenstein

Next, I was told that their signature Must Try hotdog would be The Frankenstein! Wow, just hearing the name already made me curious how it would be like? After some time, the piping hot Frankenstein was dished out. It comprised of 50% beef & 50% pork sausage, wrapped up by a streaky bacon. TMI hot sauce, TMI beanless chili & sautéed onions were piled on top! Wow! If you are feeling extremely hungry, I am certain this will be very filling! I love how the two types of hotdogs goes together. It's an ingenious idea to wrap them with the streaky bacon to make sure they don't fall apart easily! I like how attentive the staff were as they helped us to cut the hotdog for sharing.

Well, if you do not mind standing at the few tables available to enjoy the gourmet hotdogs, I find that TMI is really a worthy try if ever you have a hotdog craving as it is conveniently located & it certainly makes a very fulfilling lunch/tea break/dinner or even supper!

Nice Korean BBQ Set Smile Nov 05, 2013
Categories : Korean | Food Court

I was thinking what to have for dinner when I saw people queuing for the Korean BBQ stall. The stall sells bibimbap, ramen and their signature items are the Chicken/Pork/Beef BBQ sets.

The Chicken & Pork sets cost $6.50, while the Beef set costs $6.90. The set comes with a soup, fried anchovies & peanuts + kimchi. I ordered the BBQ Pork set and waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready.

The sizzling pork was tender and the sauce was very flavourful to go with the big bowl of rice! I do not like kimchi so I simply took a bite of the cabbage kimchi. The fried anchovies were nice thou and I finished it together with my main course. Overall, it is a worthy eat at a food court.
