Fantastic Western Food Smile Nov 26, 2013

Categories : Steaks and Grills

This Astons outlet located in The Cathay is conveniently located for people who are looking for a good meal before or after a movie. My favourite is the black pepper steak that also comes with 2 sides. The amount of black pepper sauce on the steak is generous. Among all the sides, I will recommend the Macaroni and Cheese for cheese lovers like me. The service is generally okay.

Piping hot chicken wings served straight to your table has got to a great perk of dining at this hawker centre.

During peak hours, the wait can be up to half an hour or even more, completely demonstrating the popularity of these delicious goodness. The chicken wings are fragrant and well-marinated and the chilli that comes with it has just that bit of spicy kick that leaves you craving for more.

Yummy fried prawn! Smile Nov 25, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre

The fried prawn dish (炒虾煎) is an alternative to the traditional fried oyster dish, suitable for those who are not so used to eating oysters. I have personally patronised both stalls selling similar dishes in the hawker centre and the fried prawn and oyster dishes at this stall has an edge over the other. The egg in the dishes has an extra crispy texture to it and the seafood is fresher than many others I have tasted. I will recommend this stall to people who is heading the food centre for dinner.

This stall also serve other dishes such as fried tang hoon, mee goreng and also fried bee hoon. All of these dishes are served up with fresh seafood and the noodles are tasty and fragrant.

Great Service! Smile Nov 22, 2013

The interior is reminiscent of a cosy European cafe and the food is fabulous. The escargots ($9.80++) were so good that I'm almost unashamed to admit that I poured the remaining garlic butter from the shell into my mouth.

I had the squid ink pasta ($16.80++), one of the tastier versions I've had in Singapore. It's doesn't smell bad like others I've tried before and the squid bits were flavourful, wish they had been more generous with that though. My boyfriend had the emu rice ($16.80++), which I tried. The egg was fluffy and soft and the rice were just the right texture.

Service in Singapore tends to veer either towards indifference or over the top. But here it was just right. The staff weren't pushy, water was served on arrival and they really made us feel as ease and at home. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Toasty Goodness Smile Nov 22, 2013

Categories : Thai | Coffeeshop | Buffet | Mookata

Since I've got to know about "mookata" I've tried many different ones but this has got to be the best. Place the lard on the centre of the hot plate and you can start bbqing your meats.

They have it ala carte and buffet style. Buffet is available at a very affordable $22 nett, none of that ++ nonsense probably because it's in a coffee shop. They have beef, chicken, pork, fish balls, quail eggs, mushrooms, veggies, tanghoon, prawns, squid and more. Yes, all these are included in the buffet and are served right to your table. You'll get a sample platter first then you can order more of what you like ;)

Chilli is really important and the one they serve here OMG, it's complete awesomeness. That little sweetness with a savoury spicy flavour perfect for dipping all the meats in. The pork belly is my favourite, tender and tasty. I could eat this every day. The seafood is fresh as well and the soup base gets really tasty after all the bbqing. The best part is at the end when you cook the tanghoon in the soup. It adsorbs all the yumminess and you get this absolutely delicious helping of soupy noodles to end your meal with.

Oh and for those who hate the burnt smell that gets all over your clothes, get a seat outside the coffee shop. If the wind direction cooperates, you'll go home still smelling great. Service is really good, the auntie is super friendly and additional orders are promptly delivered, even when they seem very busy.
