Healthy Choices @ Swensens Smile Apr 25, 2012

Everyone's getting health conscious and diet conscious these days.
Whenever we eat out, we try to look for healthier options, especially for our parents.

My Mum loves Swensens, especially the Fish n Chips, buts she's often skeptical about the chips. This time, I decided to make a request. I asked for the Chips to be substituted with
vegetables, like those served with Lamb Chops. The staff at the restaurant were very accommodating and got it done.

We started our meal with wholesome, piping-hot Mushroom Soup.
I also ordered Bruschetta and this went really well with the soup.
The toasted slices of bread with diced onions and tomatoes that had been lightly sauteed with olive oil just melt in you mouth.

I decided to make it a healthy lunch - by asking for vegetables for my Fish with Apricot mayo. The boiled vegetables included Carrots, Cauliflower, Zucchini and Snow Peas.

I was glad that I had asked for the change. It was truly a great-tasting and healthy meal
and Mum loved it! smile

Super fast, Super good!! Smile Apr 24, 2012

A visit to Subway never disappoints because I know I'm getting healthy and fresh food!
My favourite at Subway has always been the Tuna sandwich.
Of course, instead of the regular 6 inch sandwich, you can go for the foot-long if you're
famished!!

My order today is for the 6-inch tuna with cheese, toasted.
What impresses me most about this outlet is how the staff manage to divide the work and clear the queue in no time - very commendable indeed!

My first choice of bread is Hearty Italian - it is light and tastes great when toasted.
I always ask for lots of lettuce, tomatoes, capsicum and olives.
My must have sauce is Honey Mayonnaise, with just a little bit of sweet flavour.
A dash of pepper completes the creation.

It is always a pleasure to have a ''DIY made by others'' sandwich at Subway tongue
Always healthy and fresh!

Fried Kway Teow

Fried Kway Teow

We had once visited Pin Si some months ago and were back again to try the food following the renovation. There were some changes such as the missing red carpet and the noisy Formula One roar from the kitchen.

That was ok, but one big change was the menu that had been reduced. Some of the items from the Pre-Reno menu were missing. sad

We tried the Fried Kway Teow with cockles and had Hong Kong style coffee as well.
Though the Fried kway Teow cost $6.00 a plate for an average-sized portion, it was truly worth it. The Fried Kway Teow brought back memories of the good old days where the fried kway teow experts prepared the dish with skill and precision. The Fried Kway Teow was absolutely fantasic..Mmmm tongue

You have got to try it to understand what I mean!

The Hong Kong coffee tasted just like normal coffee, nothing extra special!

More than BBQ OK Apr 22, 2012

Categories : BBQ

This stall serves a variety of food - including Carrot Cake, Rojak and Popiah - in addition to its specialty, BBQ Chicken wings.

Tried the Rojak for the first time. I ordered the smaller portion for $4 and asked for less chilli. While the rojak was tasty, the portion contained more pineapple and turnip than
you tiao and tau pok. The ''you-tiao'' and ''tau-pok'' had been toasted, so they tasted crunchy, but they had been cut into really small pieces. It was tough finding them, under the rojak gravy. There were plenty of crunchy nuts, so that was good. There was a lot of leafy vegetable as well.

One important matter, though. The plate was chipped, so that could pose a hygiene issue.

It would be good if the amount of ''you-tiao'' and ''tau-pok'' is increased.

Laksa With A Twist! Smile Mar 31, 2012

We first entered this oulet with a little apprehension. We have always been used to old-fashioned laksa, with its gravy, but, this outlet had Laksa of a totally different kind.
The staff were very friendly and explained the various items on the menu.

The traditional laksa was really good - full of flavour and a generous amount of ingredients, but it was the Laksa Goreng that stole the day!
It had the full flavour and taste of laksa, minus the gravy.
It was just like Mee Goreng fried with the white laksa noodle and flavoured like laksa.

In addition, the laksa-flavoured satay was incredible - something very different!
You have to try to understand!!

The drinks proved to be very appetising and went really well with the food.
Will definitely be back for more!
