Aone Claypot House opened in Jurong Point earlier this year and I got a chance to try out the food there.

I went with a group of 4 (including myself) and we ordered:
- Claypot Dried Chilli Chicken Cube ($13.90)
- Steamboat Tom Yam Seafood with Sliced Fish ($10.90)
- Cai Pu Egg ($8.90)
- Rice

In my opinion, this restaurant serves a good place to have zichar when dining with family or friends. It operates much like a zichar stall where they hand you the menu and you tick what you want to eat on the menu chit. Though it is a little bit pricier then when you eat at a zichar stall in hawker centres, considering that it operates in a shopping mall, the prices are pretty reasonable.

If there are no seats, you will have to wait outside. When i visited, there was a queue outside and the restaurant remained full till around 2-3pm. There was not much fancy decorations, just a lot of round tables and chairs. It was generally a chore to move in and out of the restaurant when you are seated inside because they are quite crowded during the peak period.

Nonetheless the stars were the food! I love the Steamboat Tom Yum Seafood with Sliced Fish. It was spicy, sour and all things that I think the tom-yum soup (Singapore-style) should taste like. The soup makes a nice accompaniment with rice. I think I can just eat it with the soup itself.

Next was the Claypot Dried Chilli Chicken Cube. As the name implies, its served in a pot and so when you scope the chicken from the pot, it is piping hot. And the dish is spicy. Yums. (I am already planning another visit to this restaurant soon.)

Nothing special about the Cai Pu Egg because to me it is just normal but at least it did not disappoint.

Overall I am really pleased with the food served!

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Lunch)

Max Brenner is the place to go for chocolate lovers. Even if you are not a chocolate lover, it is a great place to chill and unwind with its cosy atmosphere coupled with dim lights. Located at the Esplanade, it does have a classy feel to it.

Anyway I happen to be in the vicinity and decided to pop by with a group of colleagues. We ordered a couple of desserts and they proved to be meant for sharing with its not-too-small portions. It is best to share too cause if not the chocolate may prove too overwhelming to finish alone. It is not too sweet too which is good for people who do not have a sweet tooth.

Good Food, So-So Service Smile Dec 30, 2014

A group of friends and I made our way to Wild Honey recently to celebrate one of our beloved friend's birthday. Although i made a reservation, due to a blunder on my part, it became invalid, it being the day before instead of the day of the supposed reservation but lucky for us the restaurant was relatively empty (and remained so for the rest of the evening) so we got our seats immediately.

Before i start on the food, i had to comment on the ambience and environment surrounding the WH outlet at Scotts Square. It is quite classy, with comfy cushion chairs and a waitering service instead of ordering over a counter service. But we were a little put off that they didn't allow us to serve the birthday cake at their restaurant and so we had to do it somewhere else.
The brioche and potatoes literally melted my heart.

Okay, now the good stuff. The food. lolstar They serve all-day breakfast items so we had the luxury of enjoying bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, baked beans with potateoes and brioche. And my gosh, i am normally not a big fan of potatoes, but it tastessssss damn good. Their brioche is quite a thick slice so it was a very filling meal.

My friends ordered some of their other items on the menu:
2 poached eggs wrapped with smoked salmon. Delish!

Overall i had say the ambience was pretty good, just the service could be better. It was relatively quiet on a tuesday evening so we got to stay more than the stipulated 1 hour.

Terrific ice-cream! Smile Nov 26, 2013

Udders is one of the places to go for nice home-made ice-cream in Singapore. My friends and I each ordered two scoops of ice cream each. It’s hard not to go beyond two scopes when you are just tempted to try out all the amazing flavours.

One of the flavours that left a deep impression was the rum and raisin one whereby it has a very deep rum flavour. Kinda perfect for those who likes rum! I myself have the chocolate and passion fruit flavour and I enjoyed them thoroughly.

Udder has 5 outlets in Singapore and I would hope that they had open more outlets (especially in the West) around Singapore so it’s more accessible to ice cream fans like me!

Dim Sum for you? Smile Nov 17, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant has become one of my favourite places to go whenever I hang out with my friends.

I first heard about Swee Choon about my friends and their rave reviews about this gem of a restaurant. When i think of Swee Choon, i think of: affordable dim sum that tastes great.

Some of the things we ordered:
- Liu Sao Bao 流沙包 (Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun)
- Har Kow 虾饺 (Shrimp Dumpling)
- Carrot Cake
- Red Bean Paste Pancake
- Xiao Long Bao 小笼包 (Soup Dumplings)
- Sichuan Chilli Oil Wanton
- Zha Jiang La Mian
- Fried Hor Fun w/Shrimps in Creamy Egg Sauce
- Mango Pudding

Sounds like a lot but the total per person came up to around $12-13. Which I think is really cheap considering how much we ordered.

The restaurant is quite a walk away from Mustafa Centre but a little exercise goes a long way when you are planning to eat lots of good food. When we reached, there was a line of people waiting outside. However we were given the menu and some chairs to sit on while waiting for seats in the restaurant. While waiting my friends and I input our orders into the order chit. This ensured that once we were seated, our food would have been in the midst of being prepared and thus cut down the waiting time.

We didn't have to wait long to be seated, but as much as I like to be seated indoors where the air conditioner is, we were seated outside. (Oh well. Luckily the weather wasn't very humid that day.)
The restaurant is decorated in a very plain manner, but the food speaks for itself which is fine. All the tables has this little machine which allows you to call for the waiter, bill or other stuffs. Which means its very efficient when you want something and you do not have to stand up and shout for the waiters when you are seated quite a distance away.

The main stars of the show that blew my stomach, no mind, away was the 小笼包 (soup dumplings) and 流沙包 (Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun). I love love love custard buns and the ones at Swee Choon is so swoon-worthy. It literally explodes in the mouth (go try it and you will know what I mean. You have been warned tongue) when i took the first bite. Really lives up to its name. The xiao long bao's dumpling skin did not break easily which means patrons can lift up the dumpling without the soup spilling out of it. I have nothing to complain about the dumpling itself. Tastes awesome.

The sichuan chilli oil wanton was just as good. I like the spiciness and yet tangy taste of the latter. Besides dim sum, one can order main dishes like the Zha Jiang La Mian and Fried Hor Fun with Shrimps in Creamy Egg Sauce.
Mango Pudding

I also ordered a mango pudding as dessert but it is more like mango dessert with sago and pomelo.

Swee Choon is definitely one dim sum restaurant to visit for nice tasty dimsum at affordable prices.
