Yummy Waffes OK Dec 30, 2014

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

One Saturday, my friends and I decided to head to Sunday Folks after admiring several instagram posts about the photogenic desserts and of course Sunday Folks is the sister company of Creamier and so of course we have to go for the waffles too.

So here's the mandatory photo shoot:

At Sunday Folks, you get to choose to customise ur waffles. So we got double slices, Earl Grey Lavender soft-serve ice cream and Lavender Konnyaku. Initially we wanted the japanese dango but it was out of stock. sick (But later we see some customers chomping on them so i guess they cooked some more).

Before we got a table, we had to get a queue number and it took very long. I thought it  open daily at 4pm but I was wrong, they open at 12pm on weekends. So while waiting, my friends and I took the queue number and went to another cafe to chill first. Anyway I quite like the queuing system. One does not need to wait there, like some restaurants do. There is a website or something which will inform you how many more tables waiting before you so in the meantime you can go do your own things for. Thats pretty efficient I guess.

The earl grey lavender ice cream, sorry guys sick, was abit too sweet for my liking. They drizzled it with honey, and topped it with blueberries and strawberries. Abit meagre in my opinion but still better than nothing right. The lavender konnyaku was nice though! Anyway i think next time i had like to try the roasted pistachio ones! Sounds promising man!

Fabulous Cakes Smile Dec 31, 2013

One day i decided to pop by The Fabulous Baker Boys having heard about them from a friend. It is a little bit out of the way but it is worth the trip. The restaurant boosts a cozy ambience with sofas and chairs around the place. The cakes too! I was so excited when i saw the pretty cakes on display.

I decided to order a slice of the Red Velvet ($9) and they were so nice! I only tried Red Velvet cupcakes but they are quite similar in terms of appearance and taste (somewhat). I love the fact that the slice of cake is littered with little hearts. So cute. Anyway the cake is really dense with layers of cream cheese in between the cake layers and a layer of chocolate. Not a chocolate lover but the cake just blows me away.

Shall organize an outing there soon with my friends to satisfy my cake cravings!

Hand-burgers Smile Dec 29, 2013

Categories : American | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches

According to the founders of the restaurant, they are named The Handburger because everything is made using their hands. So for that I had give full marks for creativity. It sounds similar to hamburgers as well. Lol.

The Handburger do offer some decent hamburgers and while I was there for lunch, I ordered the Chicken caesar burger while my friend had The Works. The burgers come presented with a spoon in the middle, presumably to help the burger stand by itself without toppling over. The chicken caesar consists of a chicken patty wrapped in bacon and that is my most favourite combination of all! Its hard to find chicken burger paired with bacon. Most of all, the Caesar sauce complements the burger really well.

I would definitely return to try their other menu items. Yummy scrummy!

Lunch at Waraku Smile Dec 28, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Pasta | Ramen

Waraku is another Japanese restaurant which I have been waiting to try for some time now. Anyway I decided to drop by one day since I am in the vicinity and though it is a bit out of the way, it is worth the visit.

The restaurant is very Japanese-inspired with their wooden furnishings and lanterns.
Salmon ($9.80)

Salmon ($9.80)

Prawns & Avocado Salad ($13.80)

Prawns & Avocado Salad ($13.80)

My friends and I ordered their Kaminabe, which is one of their signature dishes here, besides their ramen. I got the Cod Fish Kaminabe which comes in a paper pot. The soup is not too salty and tasted quite healthy in my opinion. The Prawns and Avocado Salad was quite nice although they seemed to have too much fun with the dressing. Still it's good because it means i get more dressing to go with the salad! I really love this combination. The prawns are cooked and flavoured by the salad dressing and the avocado is crunchy. So paired with the prawns, its quite unique. For the Salmon dish, I didn't really try but I heard its fresh. So thumbs up for Waraku!

Worth coming back for their affordable prices. lol

Cheese and Caramel Crisps Smile Dec 27, 2013

Whenever I am walking down Citylink Mall, which links City Hall MRT station to Suntec, there is a strong whiff of Garett Popcorn (GP) in the air. Fantastique!

On a normal day, one can expect a short queue forming outside this gourmet popcorn retail chain. They offer quite a good variety of popcorn flavours like the CheeseCorn, Buttery, CaramelCrisp and Plain. I love the butter ones cause true to its name, it has a strong buttery taste and though one's hands can get oily snacking on this, it's worth it, even the calories. One thing i have to applaud GP is their generosity in the CaramelCrisp range of assorted flavours. You can get the original CaramelCrisp or choose Almonds, Macadamia and other nuts with it. There is often a lot of nuts to be found in these popcorns and it provides a really crunchy texture. Really flavourful. My favourite of all is the CheeseCorn which tastes like lou-hong cheezels but it's strangely addictive and I never mind getting this. tongue
