This local bar was in the spotlight recently after The New Paper did an article about this pub set up by former Jigger and Pony bartender Sam Wong. What makes this pub stands out from the rest is that it sells local-inspired drinks. Now how cool is that?

I decided to drop by after dinner one evening with my friend shortly after the newspaper publication. As i was walking down Boat Quay looking for this quaint pub, i nearly missed it as the entrance stands so inconspicuously next to the neighboring shops.

Headed to the second floor where the pub was located and settled for a seat near the windows. (One can also choose to sit at the bar counter) The owner of the shop greeted us when we entered and after we have settled down, came and asked what we would like to have.

I asked him if they were any locally-inspired drinks but sadly it was in the R&D stage. Nonetheless we still got to try his mixing skills with the other cocktails served to us! I like that he tried to interact with us and occasionally called over to us if we needed anything.

I liked the overall decor of the shop which blends in well with the name of the shop. Do keep your eyes peeled for the pub next time you pass by Boat Quay!

I would definitely return for another visit next time to try something that is inspired by our diverse cuisines!

I was shopping around the newly opened Westgate when I spotted a Royce Chocolate outlet at Level 1. Triple cheers for Royce for finally opening an outlet in the West! Jurong East is slowly becoming the Orchard Road of the West with popular outlets such as H&M, Uniqlo and finally Royce~!!!

Yeah! Anyway my mum spotted my longing look at Royce and asked if I had like some chocolate. I said yes and chose their Nama Chocolates (my favourites!) - Grape and Au Lait (Milk).

Milk Flavour

There are a few flavours to choose from, but i picked the Milk Chocolate ($15). Its super nice! There are about 20 pieces in a box, and there is a small pick for you to eat the chocolates with. Super yummy. Its creamy and literally melts in your mouth. The sweetness is also just right in my opinion.
Grape Flavour

Grape Flavour

I was hesitating which one to get for the second box, but i opted for the Grape ($17). I asked the staff if it is nice, and she said its a newly-released flavour. Grape sounds good! This one had a thin layer of whitest thing which i presume is what gives off the grape flavour and its also very melty and sweet. The grape tastes like the Meiji Grape flavour chewy sweets. tongue But i like it though my brother thinks the Milk one is better. Oh well.

Truffles Galore Smile Dec 30, 2014

Categories : Italian | Hotel | Restaurant | Pasta

So after our exams, my friends and I headed to RWS for a staycation and decided to try out this restaurant which my friend recommended.

When we approached the restaurant, the staff seems to be dressed in oriental themed uniforms. But when i looked at the menu, it serves italian cuisine like pasta and pizzas. I ordered one of their signature pasta which my friend tried and shared that it tastes amazing.

Before our main course we ordered the mushroom soup, and i have to say its like the most atas mushroom soup i have ever had. It was quite thick but super nice with a strong taste of truffles in it. I think it adds a lot of flavour to the mushroom soup. It also had little bread crumbs in it which i felt added texture to the soup.

Shortly after came the main course. I ordered pasta and man i think it was the best pasta i have had in a long shot. It was super creamy and there was again the truffles and crayfish. So even though it was a lil' expensive, like $28 for one serving, it was still pretty worth it. But there was a little downside. Midway through the meal i got a little sick of the taste and so i didn't finished all of it. I did finish the pasta though. tongue

Great ambience though most of the guests seems to be dressed in t-shirts and shorts. Maybe cause its located in a hotel thus the attire. Anyway hotel guests get to enjoy a discount off their total bill which made the meal really worth it. The service was excellent too. Everyone is served at the same time.

Summer Breezy~ Smile Dec 25, 2013

I stumbled upon this fruits stall at Jem after dinner. I was charmed by their cute designs and neat display of fruits. This stall offers cut fruits and fruit juices. For the former you can either choose to mix and match your own fruits or choose from their HUGE variety of fruit juice concoctions.

You can see what each concoctions offers and the fruits that made up each combination. Really good for when you want something to relieve an ailment or when you are feeling hot under the sun etc. Reallly cute and splendid. But the concoctions don't come cheap. They cost $3.80-$4+.
Summer Breeze ($4.10)

Summer Breeze ($4.10)

I ordered the Summer Breeze ($4.10) which is supposed to help decrease blood pressure and clears body heat. It is made up of 4 different fruits - Asian pear, mango, red apple and carrot. The drink is also serves as a thirst quencher. Its really refreshing and it didnt have a diluted taste. I can also taste the pear and carrots in it.

I think Freshman offers something different whereby they try to explain the benefits each concoction offers in short sentences with cute infographics and this helps customers to reach a decision quicker.

However the staff almost got my order wrong. She informed her colleague its number 14 on the menu and I quickly clarified. But they were very polite and friendly.

After dinner i was feeling somewhat hungry and so i decided to get some bread from Petite Provence. Really want to try their Milk Pan ($1.70) and finally i got to do so today. lol I was actually swayed by the word Milk and then add a Pan after it, it just sounds so cute. Although it looks a little plain, though there seems to be a cursive M on top of the bun. One bite into the soft fluffy bun and you get some pudding like mixture inside the bun. Delish! The bun itself was quite bland but paired with the milk pudding, it just tastes great!

While browsing around, i also decided to get the Brazilian Cheese Bun ($0.90). They asked me if i wanted it with sugar or without sugar. I went for the former though i don't think i can taste the sugar when biting down on the hard pastry. It's really quite hard and tough to bite into (but not like nougat kind of hard). The cheese flavour is just amazing. The whole pastry is quite chewy and while chewing you get to savour the cheese. Thumbs up for their delightful creations!
