Wanted a light lunch so I decided to have some sushi.

Premium Eel with Tamago Sushi

Premium Eel with Tamago Sushi

This cost around $8, pretty expensive but the eel and tamago were pretty big and thick in slices. The sweet taste of the egg and eel together with the textures and mouthfeel of everything was quite shiok lol

Aburi Salmon Belly Sushi

Aburi Salmon Belly Sushi

This is my must-order whenever it's available at whichever Japanese restaurant I'm at. I absolutely love the soft, slightly cooked yet still a little raw salmon.
Chawanmushi

Another one of my favourites at Sushi Tei. This never fails smilesmile

Taj Mahal Wrap Smile Nov 17, 2014

Taj Mahal Wrap

Taj Mahal Wrap

The Taj Mahal wrap consisted of tandoori chicken, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and red onions in a mint yoghurt dressing. I chose the spinach wrap and I really liked this combination because you can clearly taste the flavourful tandoori chicken paired with the healthy crunch of the various vegetables. The wrap was really big and kept me full (but I didn't feel bloated at all) all the way till dinner. Will definitely order this again!

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)

We were here on a Thurs evening and it was full house with quite a number of people in the queue. It was supposedly a 50 min wait for me, but I got a table after just 10 mins! smile

Roasted Pistachio Soft Serve with Petite Waffle

Roasted Pistachio Soft Serve with Petite Waffle

I got the Roasted Pistachio for myself and the flavour was pretty intetesting! It tasted like fried garlic chips which I quite liked. What I really liked was the waffle! It was crisp yet fluffy and really fragrant. I could just have the waffle alone with some maple syrup and it'll still be super satisfying!

Spending per head: Approximately $9

Good & affordable peranakan food! Smile Mar 30, 2014

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya

I wanted to have Peranakan food for my birthday and this place seemed to have consistently good reviews, hence I decided to head there for a meal with my family. It was a small restaurant situated at the top floor of Beauty World, seems to be family-owned. The whole place had a really homey and cozy feeling.

Nonya Chap Chye

Nonya Chap Chye

The Nonya Chap Chye was okay, I would have preferred if the vegetables were cooked longer so that they'd be softer.

Sambal Petai

Sambal Petai

I really love Sambal Petai so of course I had to order this when I saw it on their menu! smile The petai was cooked well, retaining the nice crunch of the bean. The sambal was also great and not too spicy.

Assam Fish Head

Assam Fish Head

The Assam Fish Head tasted like tomyam, which was fine by me since I like tomyam. The fish was fresh and the vegetables like tomatoes, brinjal and lady's fingers were cooked till soft and had soaked up the lovely assam gravy.

Beef Rendang

Beef Rendang

The Beef Rendang curry was really nice and fragrant and the beef was pretty tender. This was my favourite dish there.

All the dishes (except chap chye which was non-spicy) were not too spicy which was great for me. Portions were on the smaller side and there's only one size for all the dishes. Will recommend this to anyone looking for good and affordable peranakan food! smile

I never knew that they had lunch sets and was delighted to find that their lunch sets are really value for money! I got myself the Braised Beef Cheeks Goulash set at only $15.90, which comes with free flow salad bar, a drink and one scoop of ice cream.

Buffet Salad Bar

Buffet Salad Bar

We started off with the salad bar while waiting for our main course to arrive. The salad bar consisted of cut fruits like watermelon, honeydew and grapes, various salads like Thai vermicelli salad and assorted vegetables (raw and cooked) such as lettuce, long beans, dou miao, button mushrooms etc for you to create your own salad. There were a few salad dressings for you to choose from ans also some toppings like cheese, bacon bits and croutons. The salads, veg and fruits were all very fresh.

Braised Beef Cheeks Goulash

Braised Beef Cheeks Goulash

The Braised Beef Cheeks Goulash itself was really really good and the portion was more than enough for me. The beef cheeks were braised till the meat was fork tender and had absorbed all the flavours from the stew. The carrot and potato chunks were also braised till they were melt-in-your-mouth and flavourful. There were also 2 slices of crispy toast which was nice on its own but I used it to wipe up every last bit of the yummy gravy smile

I chose to have hot tea which was from Dilmah, and Vanilla ice cream which was so-so.

The salad bar and main course was really good and value for money so I recommend everyone to give them a try!
