This cafe was quite interesting with a few levels of different sections/areas that are kinda separated from one another. Hence there's one al fresco area, and a few indoor areas. We sat at one indoor area and managed to get the swing seats smile

Chamomile: Was not feeling well hence the only drink I could order was their hot tea, which was exorbitant at $7 per tea bag!!!! The only thing that made it slightly better was that instead of the normal sugar or sugar cubes that cafes provide you with, theirs was a very pretty sugar crystal on a stick! It's really pretty.. I could stare at it all day long tongue

Molten Lava Cake

Molten Lava Cake: My friends ordered the molten lava cake. I don't usually order it myself but I tried it and it was pretty rich and chocolatey, and it wasn't too sweet.I think it's not bad but is probably too rich for me to finish it by myself. There was also strawberry sauce drizzled on the side.

Might return but only for the ambience...nice place to catch up with friends.

Nice and affordable French food Smile Mar 03, 2014

Everyone knows that Saveur serves decent French food at affordable prices, and of course I'm not gonna miss out on this great deal!

I ordered the Duck Leg Confit for myself and the Foie Gras to share between 2.
Foie Gras

Foie Gras

Where else could you get foie gras for $7.90?! The pan-seared foie gras was soft, delicate and oily - a little too oily my for liking, but nevertheless nice and oh so melt-in-your-mouth. The 2 pieces of duck liver were served atop creamy lentils accompanied with pickled pearl onions. This is definitely a great starter and extremely value for money! lol

Duck Leg Confit

I've never had duck leg confit before hence I don't have a benchmark. But even then, I knew that this was good, especially for a price of just $12.90! The duck skin was crispy and the duck leg was tender and came apart easily. The mashed potato was soft and creamy.

This is definitely THE place to go if you're looking for nice and affordable French food! smile

Great tasting and healthy wraps!  Smile Mar 03, 2014

Sometimes after yoga, all I want is something that fills me up just right and is healthy at the same time. Whenever this craving strikes, I'll head over the Sumo Salad @ 313 which is near my yoga centre.

I'm a fan of their salads and wraps and this time, I got myself the Chicken Caesar Wrap. They sell their wraps in half which costs $3.90. The Chicken Caesar Wrap is a cold wrap, consisting of hard boiled egg, lettuce, chicken and bacon bits. I really love how there's a fair amount of each of the food groups in this wrap: carbs, veggies and protein smile I'll definitely continue to purchase their wraps and salads again and again and again...

Refreshing Passionfruit Ice Tea Smile Mar 02, 2014

Categories : American | Coffee

We were looking for a place to have drinks after dinner at Vivo hence we decided to see if there were any seats at Starbucks. There are two outlets at Vivo itself, one on level 1 and one on level 2. The former is the bigger one hence we headed to that and luckily, we managed to find an available table on a Friday night.

I was looking for something cold and refreshing and it seemed like their Ice-Shaken Lemon Tea was the only choice. They have it in green tea or passionfruit so I chose passionfruit.

For some strange reason, the drink was red in colour and slightly sourish, even though passionfruit is supposed to be yellow in colour and slightly sweet? Despite all those, the drink was still nice and refreshing, which was just what I needed smile

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Supper)

Steamboat Buffet Smile Mar 02, 2014

Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant | Chinese Soup

My friends and I decided to try out their steamboat buffet. Included in the buffet price are starters, where each person can order one dish each.

Sichuan-Style Monkey Head Mushroom

Sichuan-Style Monkey Head Mushroom

Starter - Sichuan-Style Monkey Head Mushrooms: This was not spicy at all even though it's Sichuan-style and has dried chilli stir-fried with the mushrooms. The mushroom chunks were coated with batter, deep-fried then stir-fried with cashews, sliced onion, garlic and ginger in a slightly sweet sauce. It has a very meaty texture/mouthfeel and I think even those who don't like vegetarian food will love this dish. This was extremely yummy lol

House Special Beef

House Special Beef

Starter - House Special Beef: This was equally good!!! I'm seriously impressed by their starters. Even though they said it's one serving, it's quite a lot so each starter can be shared by 2-3 people. Both starters came piping hot. The beef was tender and flavourful, really really good.

Chicken Soup & Wild Mushroom Soup

Chicken Soup & Wild Mushroom Soup

For the steamboat, we got two soup bases, Wild Mushroom Soup and Chicken Soup. The Chicken Soup was ok/normal, while the Wild Mushroom Soup had a very strong mushroom taste. Despite this, the Wild Mushroom Soup was very pleasant and unique, different from the usual chicken/pork bone soup. The only thing about the 2 soup bases is that they got extremely salty at the end after adding in all the ingredients.

Assorted Vegetables

Assorted Vegetables

At the start, they gave us a tray of many ingredients but also said that if we do not want any of that, we can just return them immediately. These consisted of things like a variety of mushrooms and vegetables, sliced fish, chicken, homemade prawn/squid balls, tofu, corn etc. For those ingredients that you want but are not there (e.g. beef, pork, mussels etc), you can simply tick them on their menu sheet and pass it to the staff. We ordered some more ingredients like marinated beef slices, sliced pork, pig stomach, pig skin, mussels, prawns, fried beancurd skin, other types of vegetables, lotus root, yam, fried mantou etc. The ingredients were all clean and fresh, and the portions aren't measly. For eg the muscles were fresh and succulent, the corn was sweet, the fried mantou remained crispy even after a while and the beef slices and chicken were really nice and tender.

I'd also like to mention that their service is really good. They are really attentive and would refill our teapot and also our steamboat with soup without us having to inform them. When you raise your hand they will also notice you and head over to you really quickly.

Overall this is a pretty good buffet steamboat place at a mid-range price lol
