Average Croissant OK Dec 07, 2014

Croissant

Croissant

I needed to get something for tea break and this cafe was really near The Chop House where I had my lunch, so I decided to see if there's anything I could get from here.

I was looking for something light and savoury and this was the best choice I had. I felt that their croissant was just average, nothing special at all. On its own, I found myself struggling to finish it. Portion-wise it was pretty big though. Don't think I'll be getting this in the future again.

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Tea)

Thaksin Beef Noodle OK Dec 03, 2014

I used to eat their beef noodle at the Clementi branch and have always liked it. This is the first time I'm having it at Seah Im Food Centre.

Thaksin Beef Kway Teow

I got myself the Beef Kway Teow (Value size at $4.80). The portion of beef cubes given was just right, tenderness of the meat was ok (can be more tender and flavourful though). I remember the herbs given to be quite strong in taste (which I liked) but this time I couldn't taste anything at all. Somehow it's not as nice as I remember it to be. However I will still eat it when the craving for beef noodle strikes.

Used to be better OK Nov 26, 2014

Categories : Australian / New Zealand | Salads/ Acai Bowl

I haven't had Sumo Salad in a while, and I used to be quite a fan of them.

Just a few days back I decided to get their salad for lunch. There weren't many options so I just got myself the Chicken Pasta Mayo and Pine Nut Pumpkin Salad.

As in you can see, it didn't look very appetizing. The taste was also so-so. I'm not sure if it's just the options I chose that day but somehow I remember their salads to be better when they first started out. The portion also seems a lot smaller now and at a more expensive price.

Claypot Frog OK Nov 23, 2014

Categories : Coffeeshop | Porridge/Congee

They had two sizes of their claypot frog meat ($8 and $16) so we decided to get a $8 claypot dried chilli frog (gong bao) and a $8 claypot ginger spring onion frog and their fried pig's intestines.

Ginger Spring Onion Frog

The frog meat didn't seem very fresh... The meat was sticking to the bones and wasn't very easy to eat. Some parts were quite tough too.

The dried chilli frog meat was a huge disappointment. I'm really sensitive to spicy food and yet, this pot of dried chilli frog meat was Not Spicy At All. It tasted exactly like the other pot of ginger spring onion frog meat, and I actually had the courage to bite into one of the dried chilli. And yes, you guessed it, it wasn't spicy at all. I've no idea what kind of dried chilli they used.

Fried Pig's Intestine

This just tasted like what it's supposed to be - fried pig's intestine. It was really crispy and those who like to eat pig's intestine can give this a try.

Plain Porridge

Porridge was ok, nothing to shout about.

Even though I was disappointed with the frog meat, I may still come back to try their other types of porridge and claypot beehoon. They seem to have a constant crowd here so maybe their other dishes is good.

Hits & Misses OK Nov 22, 2014

Categories : Thai | Restaurant

The boss and lady boss were quite strange. But never mind, the food is the reason why we are here!

So we ordered the set which was around $335++ for 10 pax. It was really worth it because there were many dishes, and you could actually change some dishes if you don't like what you see in the set menu!

Thai Rice Crispies

Thai Rice Crispies

First up was the Thai Rice Crispies with a side of coconut chicken. It was like curry coconut gravy but without the spice. Not bad!

Thai Mango Salad

Thai Mango Salad

This was the mango salad. I feel it's so-so only.

Stuffed Chicken Wing

Stuffed Chicken Wing

The stuffed chicken wings were quite good, very crispy too.

Thai Otah

Thai Otah

The presentation of the Thai otah was really cute. Taste-wise, it had a slight otah fragrance but wasn't spicy at all.

Prawns with Thai Chilli Sauce

Prawns with Thai Chilli Sauce

Here's the huge plate of prawns in Thai sweet chilli sauce. Not bad..Prawns were big and succulent.

Mango Sticky Rice

Mango Sticky Rice

Was looking forward to this dessert! Some of the mango were slightly sour, but other than that it was okay...at least it satisfied my craving for a bit!

I didn't take photos of all the dishes, but there was also olive rice (so-so), fish maw soup which was not bad but really little, and deep-fried pomfret fillets which was really good. For the soup, we asked to have half changed to tom yam soup which wasn't spicy at all (and I'm very sensitive to spicy things). It was a huge let down considering how Thai food = tom yam soup. Another bad point is that their drinks are served in a really small portion. Just a few mouthfuls and it's all gone! sad
