Great ambience, decent food Smile Dec 04, 2014

Full review, http://jacqsowhat.blogspot.sg/2014/12/kitchen-table-w-hotel-sentosa-cove.html

The kichen table at W hotel sentosa seems to focus on quality rather than quantity. I've to say the spread isn't much if you compare to The Line or Carousel. Came here for their dinner buffet for my company's corporate event. Desserts spread were of unique cheesecakes n crumbles rather than your usual chocolate mousse cake. The best was the seafood spread - lobster, oyster, snow crab leg, mussels, sashimi, tuna etc. They were fresh and sushi segment were of good quality with special treat of tea rice. Noodles were the usual, laksa, char siew noodle and fish maw soup, nothing over the world. Indian cuisine were of wide spread as well, from freshly fried papadum, grilled prawns, briyani etc. Pasta section - only 1 kind is available, Squid ink w crab meat pasta. Service were efficient too.
Overall, a decent dinner place great for chilling but I wouldn't be back though smile

Laid back ambience OK Nov 03, 2014

Categories : Café | Pasta | Burgers and Sandwiches

It's a great place to chill out with friends with it's laid back ambience like cafes in Aussie. Coffee brews starting from $5.50 feature blends by local roasters such as Nylon beans.

Matcha Latte was decent, the powdering taste was quite overbearing that itches the throat. Truffle Fries ($10), The fries wasn't infuse richly with truffle flavor though. Otherwise, it's pretty pleasant. Carbonara ($18), the cream sauce was rich in flavor, the poached egg brings it to a whole new level with it's yolk. Rosti Omelette ($14.50), For that price, I wish they would be more generous with the portion.

Heard that it was homemade pizza crust so we decided to go ahead with Pulled Pork Pizza ($18). Thin crust pizzas can never go wrong, pulled pork was well marinated and flavorful. Definitely works well for sharing. The Assembly Ground would be one of my choice for cuppa in town or probably before a movie at the Cathay.

Matcha Fondueee Smile Jun 09, 2014

Thanks to 'The Entertainer' app, we are entitled to a 1-for-1 dinner buffet at Lime Restaurant in PARKROYAL Hotel on Pickering. It is serving peranakan cuisine cooked by chef Nancy Teo who has many years of experience. The matcha fondue was the main highlight in the desserts segment, everyone just whoah at the sight of it. worthy bites are the crème brulee and freshly baked tarts in different flavours especially the key lime pie.
The peranakan corner serving authentic peranakan classic dishes such as Kueh Pie Tti, Ayam Bbuah Keluak (spicy chicken cooked with black nuts), Babi Pongteh and many more. The best one I had was 'Udang Assam', very flavourful Tamarind prawns - must try.
Seafood and salmon sashimi corner - serving fresh prawns, mussels, oysters and clams! Limited assorted sushi and they were all raw seafood on it. Thankfully, all of them tasted fresh & not fishy. Their savoury food tasted good overall. Some were slightly above average, while others fell short of it. While I feel the desserts were something to raved about with the excellent quality of it.

Nicely done scramble eggs! Smile May 28, 2014

For full review, photos: http://jacqsowhat.blogspot.sg/2014/05/november-8-coffee-company-upper-thomson.html
Located in the vicinity of Upper Thomson where lots of eateries and cafes are, you'll find recently opened November 8 Cafe in the same building as OZ Specialty Coffee as well. An ideal place for your all day breakfast and caffeine fix. November 8 is probably known for their highly raved Potato Rosti. We ordered this as well as their Big Breakfast and Baked Portobello Mushroom as a side.

Potato Rosti ($16) - Rosti served with generous serving of scrambled eggs, bacon and gourmet pork sausage. November 8 is known for their highly raved rosti and no doubt it tasted heavenly!
Baked Portobello Mushroom ($10) - 2 huge mushrooms baked with bacon and mozzarella cheese. It tasted ordinary but for that price, I probably won't order it again.
Big Breakfast ($20) - I feel it was kinda overpriced for these but no doubt the toast and scrambled eggs were delish.
After trying out several breakfast set, this is one of the place I would go back for a good scramble egg fix.

Freshly baked everyday! Smile Jan 19, 2014

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

Looking for a nice place to chill with freshly baked home-made cakes and pastries? Located in Upper Bukit Timah, along the stretch of eateries at Lorong Kilat, you'll find vintage cafe; Carpenter and Cook.

There were a variety of cakes and sweets to pick from. For sweets, we tried Caramel Walnut Cheesecake ($7) and Sticky Toffee Walnut Brownie ($6.50). They tasted really fresh like it's just taken out from the oven. Cheesecake was satisfying while the brownie was a little too sweet and dry for me personally.

Worthy bites such as Passion Fruit Meringue Tart, Lemon Drizzle Loaf Cake and Banoffee Tart as recommended by the staff.

The unique vintage atmosphere, definitely a place to go for with freshly baked pastries and cakes everyday. Perfect setting for a cosy high tea session with your loved ones especially over a cup of freshly brew coffee.

With a touch of nostalgic feel to the cafe, be sure to check them out if you're in the vicinity of Bukit Timah. Read full review at http://jacqsowhat.blogspot.sg/2014/01/carpenter-and-cook-artisan-bakery-cafe.html
