Pho not my cup of tea OK Feb 28, 2014
Categories : Vietnamese

There was a long line of people queuing up and my friends and I joined the queue. Got a table quite fast.

Quite a number of condiments on the table- Some chilli sauce for pho and hoisen sauce.
Salad

I got the lunch set($9.90)- salad+chicken pho+ iced lotus tea. The salad came quite fast after we ordered our food. Really love the salad. Quite similar to achar. Sour and sweet and a hint of spiciness. It was also crunchy.

Shortly after the drinks came. This is the worst tea I have EVER tasted. Words can't describe it. Even with sugar, I still couldn't drink it. Better to get the coffee. Well this is only my opinion.
Pho Chicken

Next came the pho. Could taste mainly cinnamon. The broth was okay. The beef pho broth had slightly more flavor then the chicken pho broth. Broth was neither too sour nor spicy. Noodles were cooked nicely. The chicken might be the nicest thing in it since I didn't really like the dish.

Lastly came the chicken wings. We had to ask the service staff about our chicken since we waited quite long. For the price of $4.90(3 pieces) I don't really think it's worth it. I felt that the added to much sauce to the chicken. The sauce was a little too salty and weird. The nice thing about this dish was the pickled carrot. Crunchy and sweet.

The tables are a little small. We sat at a table for 3 people and when all the food arrived there was hardly any space left. Doubt I'll visit here anytime soon.

Coffee might be a better choice OK Feb 27, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Coffee

Ordered signature hot chocolate with whipped cream. Was a little sweeter than what I would have liked. Maybe because of the cream. It came out warm so it was easy to drink it. Anyway, it kinda tasted like the one I drank at to-gether cafe except it had a slightly stronger chocolaty taste.

Chewy Udon! Crispy Tempura! Smile Feb 27, 2014

Categories : Japanese

Had dinner at Kazokutei with my cousin.
The service staff was slow and not that attentive. Waited quite a while before one of the staff came to give us a table. We also had to wait a while before we could place our order. But it might be because there were only 2 staff.

I ordered wanko udon shokado wazen. The sushi was average to slightly below average. toppings of the sushi were not that fresh. Tempura was lovely! It was crunchy and not too oily. The udon was also wonderful. It was really chewy. Might be the best udon I ever had. There were 3 different topping on the udon- sweet beancurd(kinda sweet), spring onion(had a strong onion flavor, I ate without them) and fishcake.

The omu rice inside is tomato rice. Overall quite nice.
I would definitely come back for the udon and tempura the next time!

Soi Thai, Soo Good Smile Feb 25, 2014
Categories : Thai | Restaurant

Lunch at Soi Thai. Heard that the food served were nice so we went.

We found an empty table and seated ourselves. Not long after a waitress came with the menu. We wrote our own order and took water for ourselves.

Ordered Olive Rice. The rice was a little salty but you could taste the olives. I like the rice mixed together with the nuts, chili, onion and lime. Made it more tasty. I'm glad there was the cucumber as it help cooled my mouth due to all the spiciness.

This was my first time eating pad thai was a little disappointed when I realized it was not spicy since I love spicy food. It was not bad. It kinda felt like I was eating cha kuay teow.

The clear tom yum soup was the best thing that we ordered. Really love the soup. Spicy, sour and just so flavorful. You won't regret ordering it. I'll definitely be back for the soup!

Fushion OK Feb 25, 2014

Categories : Fusion | Pasta | Noodles

Was finding a place to have our dinner and my friend and I decided on Doodle! & Switch!
They offer wraps and pasta. When you enter there will be a service staff that ask you whether you are having the pasta or wraps and he then hands you the menu accordingly. On the pasta menu they a had the classic ones such as Cabonara and Aglio Olio. They also offer unique ones as you can see in the picture below.

I ordered he One Night in Bangkok with linguine. It consist of dory fish, mussel, squid, cherry tomatoes, straw mushroom, thai herbs and tom yum sauce. At first it was okay. You could taste some sourness and spiciness which was nice. But the last few bites were a bit hard as I got sick of the taste. The thing that saved me were the cherry tomatoes.

The cabonara sauce was really quite nice. Thick and creamy with some bacon bits and topped with rucola and cheese.

We also got the soup of the day which was minestrone and lemon tea.

I think that it is quite good that the food is cooked quite fast and that the service staff were friendly. Continue the good job!
