Both my friend and I got the student meal for $8.65 (inclusive of GST and service charge). Each student meal coms with a main course, drink and ice cream!

Garlic bread

Garlic bread

We were served complimentary garlic bread. I am not a fan of garlic bread so I found this average tasting. But still, it's sufficient to curb my hunger while waiting for the mains.
Chicken Aglio Olio

Chicken Aglio Olio

I chose the Chicken Aglio Olio. The chicken skin has a nice crisp to it (I used my cutlery to feel it, didn't eat the skin though), chicken was marinated well, generous serving of bell peppers & mushrooms. However, I found it a tad too oily...
Chocolate Nuts Ice Cream

Chocolate Nuts Ice Cream

Ended off the meal with this fantastic chocolate nuts ice cream! The nuts on it is so fragrant and addictive. Plus, the combination of chocolate and nuts can never go wrong so... Yes, I liked this ice cream a lot, even though it's not gourmet ice cream!

Excellent Cake! Smile Mar 20, 2014

Yam Cake

Yam Cake

If you like yam desserts, then this yam cake from Mirana Cake House should be in your to-eat-list. The portion of the slice is sufficient for one and the yam works so well with the cake. The cake itself is light and moist, just like how good cakes should be like. The yam layer is delish - sweetness is on the spot and you can actually taste the autenthic yam flavour. Besides, this is really affordable considering the fact that this tastes extremely good! Highly addictive, too!

Spending per head: Approximately $1.20(Breakfast)

Cute Cupcakes! Smile Mar 20, 2014

Chocolate Cupcake

Chocolate Cupcake

Don't compare this sugary treat with Twelve Cupcakes' standards and you'll be pleased. This cute cupcake is definitely pleasing on the eye (plus point for the cute flower fondant on top). Taste wise, it's pretty okay, albeit rather dry. The texture and taste is more towards the "old school confectionary" side. Sweetness of chocolate frosting isn't too overpowering either. A more affordable alternative than those $3+ cupcakes, and the taste isn't too bad for its price.

Spending per head: Approximately $1.50(Tea)

Good place to chill! Smile Mar 19, 2014

Iced Dark Chocolate (left)

Iced Dark Chocolate (left)

I like anything chocolate, so this is quite delish to me. However, it was quite milky. Wished they toned down on the milk.
Carbonara

Carbonara

Spaghetti Carbonara! This is a pretty good pasta, if your expectations are not too high. The cream base resembles those canned Prego carbonara sauce, and not those thick and creamy carbonara sauce (Peperoni Pizzeria does a good plate of thick, creamy carbonara). Taste-wise, it's pretty delicious, and ingredients were fresh.
Grilled Pandan Chicken Chop

Grilled Pandan Chicken Chop. Sounds weird, but it tastes pretty ok... If you don't mind that it tastes a little bit like Pandan love letters.

Side note, do visit the cafe early, especially if you're aiming to get the lava cake because by the time I got there (it was 1+), the place was quite packed and the lava cake was sold out.

Innovative Bean Curd! Smile Mar 19, 2014

Signature Savoury bean curd

Signature Savoury bean curd

Quite some time ago I managed to try the highly raved Signature Savoury bean curd from Mr. Bean! So basically, what's inside this dish is their soya bean curd (which actually just reminds me of normal tofu, not the sweet kind of soya bean curd), minced chicken, mushrooms, fried shallot, spring onions, coriander leaves and chilli sauce (or some kind of spicy sauce... Not those Maggi kind). The ingredients were fresh and quite tasty, but it lacks depth to complement the bean curd well. Something was just missing from this whole dish but I couldn't pinpoint it out. Novelty wise, it's definitely very unique (my first time seeing a supposedly sweet bean curd incorporating with some savoury ingredients). Overall, it's worth the first try but I won't order this the second time. Instead, order this (see below)
3-in-1 Rice Balls

Tang yuan with bean curd and soya bean milk!!! Why get it? Because it's one of the best things on Earth :-P
