My friend and I both got the Students Special, where we pay $10 for a bowl of Ramen and a soft drink. Both of us chose to get the Spicy Minced Pork Tonkotsu Ramen.

First, we were served a complimentary appetiser which wasn't very pleasant (it had a pungent taste to it), hence we skipped it.

The Ramen was pretty delicious; broth wasn't as oily as I'd expected it to be. However, the ramen itself wasn't very spicy at all. The accopanying chilli oil condiment at the side didn't help to complement the dish. The onsen tamago was good too as the yolk was runny. A very comforting dish.

All in all, the ramen was worth the try, although personally I would only fork out $8 and not $10 for the meal.

Best Coconut Ice Cream! Smile Mar 07, 2014

Categories : Singaporean Western | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal | Kids-Friendly

My friend and I both ordered the Student's Set Meal each and each set comes with a Ice Lemon Tea, Main and a scoop of Ice Cream (flavours vary) for only $6.90.
Ice Lemon Tea

Ice Lemon Tea

This is the ice lemon tea, served in a really cute and huge mug! I like this ice lemon tea a lot because the sweetness is just nice to my liking (unlike those where diners have to personally add in the sugar syrup, which is still tasteless/ bitter after doing so). I managed to finish the whole mug of ice lemon tea!
Pasta w/ Spicy Garlic & Mushrooms

Pasta w/ Spicy Garlic & Mushrooms

For the student's set meal, we get to be our own chefs whereby we pick the pasta sauce base and ingredients that we want. Thinking that Spicy Garlic meant Aglio Olio Style with Chilli & Garlic, I went ahead to place my order, only to find out that it's a white (not creamy though, tastes a little like roux sauce) base with garlic and chilli padi. I was disappointed, but nevertheless, still enjoyed the pasta, although it could do with more seasoning.
Double Cheese Fries

Double Cheese Fries

The portion for the Double Cheese Fries is quite huge, so it's recommended for sharing. The fries were served piping hot and crispy, and the cheese sauce was amazing!
Coconut Ice Cream

Coconut Ice Cream

The best part of the whole meal besides the ice lemon tea would be this coconut ice cream. Don't underestimate it just because it looks plain; it tastes incredibly delicious! The coconut ice cream is not too rich and it's such a pleasure eating it. It also comes with a few bits of coconut flesh. My friend who is quite picky with her food actually enjoyed this ice cream and said that it was even better than some ice cream served at other popular ice cream joints! Really wished they sell the ice cream individually.

Salad Bar

Salad Bar

The Salad Bar concept was pretty interesting and I managed to create my own refreshing salad! Ingredients at the salad bar was fresh. There were quite a lot of ingredients to choose from!

Salad Bar

The glass noodles was extremely good! I had 2 servings of it!

They even have some cocktail fruits for desserts at the salad bar!
Ice Cream Cake

Ice Cream Cake

I got this slice of ice cream cake... Not impressive; I'd expected more from this because Earle Swensen's sort of specialises in ice cream too... And the ice cream cake didn't live up to its name.
Seafood Aglio Olio

Seafood Aglio Olio

This was originally tomato sauce based, but my friend and I got the wait staff to request the chef to change the base to aglio olio style because both of us disliked tomato based pasta... And this dish was a huge disappointment. Pasta was dry and ingredients used were not too fresh either. Just an advice, don't change this to aglio olio style, perhaps sticking to its original tomato sauce base might taste better.

Spending per head: Approximately $16(Dinner)

Parma Ham & Pancetta

Parma Ham & Pancetta

The Parma Ham and Pancetta are the 2 most popular flavours among the customers, and now I know why. Both flavours are packed full of flavours and both had generous portions of ingredients. Meat lovers, look out for this!
Calamari

Calamari

The accompanying lemon mayo dip complemented the calamari rings so well.
Deep Fried Chicken Wings

Deep Fried Chicken Wings

Deep fried chicken wings! This dish wins hands down! Very crispy, a little spicy, all perfection.
Cinderella

Cinderella

The Cinderella mocktail is pretty refreshing!
Frutti De Mare in Vongole base

Frutti De Mare in Vongole base

This was supposed to be a tomato based pasta but I requested for the vongole base instead. The white wine base works pretty well together with the fresh seafood. Worth every calories!
Creme Brulee

Creme Brulee

Creme brulee! This dessert was done so well that my friends and I thought of ordering another portion!
Tiramisu

Tiramisu

One of the best tiramisu I've ever had. The alcohol isn't too overpowering and I can taste the coffee in it. The sponge wasn't too soggy, although they could have improved on the presentation because our tiramisu "sunk" to the side.

Average Tasting Cupcakes Cry Mar 02, 2014

Keylime Cupcake

Keylime Cupcake

The cake was quite crumbly and very dry; the texture resembled more like a muffin. Taste-wise, it's average but what puts me off is the texture of the cupcake. It would have been tastier if the cupcake was moist and not crumbly. The frosting above did not help to complement the cupcake well as a whole. Overall, I don't think this Keylime flavour is worth a try.
