We chance upon this place while visiting the MBS Garden. The crowd is not too thick here, perhaps they are mainly catering to the tourist group.

The ambinence is great of course, as there's replica of the super trees (kind of) inside the restaurant. it even changes colours too - quite romantic acutally.

We order the noodle and hor fan. Hor Fan has wok hei - so it is really tasty. The noddle goes very well with the crispy chilli sauce. Not sure what's inside the chilli sause but it sure taste fantastic. It has bits for fried garlic and hae bi, so flavourful, so heavenly.

We also ordered the beef stew. It really surprised us it was so well cooked and the portions were huge, for a place like this.

Overall, it's value for money and the food is excellent. One of the best we tasted around Marina Bay Sands without buring a hole in your pocket. smile

Durian Milk shake Smile Feb 06, 2014

For $9, you can order a large Durain Milk shake (Strong) and not regret it. I suggest sharing for 2 with this big one than order 2 small regular ones (cheaper lah).

It is so flavorful that is packed with Durian goodness. The milk shake is so smooth you cannot taste any pulp, though it is quite thick and you literally need to "suck" really hard to consume the goodness. It's good to visit when it is not crowded. Worth coming back again. Bravo!

Excellent hot pot experience Smile Jun 23, 2014

Categories : Sichuan | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot

If u like hot pot with a hint of class and great service, then try the newly opened Hai Di Lao at 313. It is just opened for a week. We made a reservation before that for lunch and got a private room for a birthday celebration.

For the soup, we took the tomato soup (very tasty with a bit of sour sweet base) and the mushroom soup. You can order the type of meat, vegetables etc to go with the hot pot. The sauce can be customized to suit your own taste and liking. There is free flow of fruits etc. My fav is lychee of the day - unlimited...shiok!

Service wise, you can ask to change your plate etc if required and no question is asked. You get a nice warm towel before you start which is nice. Of course, here, ladies can do their manicure etc if u have time. There's a nice kids room for your child to play as well.

Food is very fresh as usual - and nicely dercorated. Soup base can be refilled anytime you need. All in all, the experience is good and we always think of coming back once in a while.

So when you have a craving for hot pot next time, come by for a great dining experience. Make reservation if possible.

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet | Sukiyaki/Shabu Shabu

This place is very crowded during dinner time when we reached. Each table is given around 1.5 hrs to dine (if I am correct). If you love your vegetables fresh, you will love it here. Placed on a bed of ice, it keeps the vegetables (we loved the nai bai and leek) cool and juicy. On top of that, they keep refilling them so you will not see empty bowls there, like other buffet places.

The sauces here are also very good, and somewhat with a Jap twist. The choice not as much as Hai Di Lao but we actually loved these more. You can add lots of garlic, sesame, parsley to the sauce and to your liking. Mushrooms are aplenty here too.

The best part here is that the meat are not placed outside so that the meat can be kept in the freshest state. You need to order them from the waitress but there is no limit. It comes to you so thinly sliced that when you put them into the hot pot, they turn into a nice pick immediately. Dip into the sauce and voila, you have the perfect hot pot! Healthy and tasty!

There are many choices of soup but we chose the Tom Yum Miso and Tonkatsu soup stock. It tasted a bit mild but is ok after a while. Again, you can ask for refill of soup base if you want.

For $1.99 extra, you can go for a free flow of drinks and ice cream. ;)

Overally, a really nice, cosy place to dine. Will be back again. (it is $10 cheaper if we can on weekdays for the same things).

Supplementary Information:
The service staff are overloaded, so go early if you can. Else, prepare to wait for a table if you go during peak hr, esp with a large group.
