Dinner OK Feb 03, 2014

Our group of 7 was at Marché Movenpick for dinner. We decided to order a few mains to try.

First up we ordered the Antipasti Pizza ($19.90), with grilled vegetables, oyster mushrooms and mixed herbs. It was a generous portion and pretty tasty.

Next, we had the Daily Special of Roasted Suckling Pig in Braised Red Cabbage and Potato Dumpling in Dark Beer Sauce ($26.90). This dish was so-so, and the pig was not tender enough.

We also had the Ribeye Steak 220g (US Angus) ($39.90). It was grilled nicely for medium rare, and served with oven roasted young potatoes and caesar salad.

Lastly for dessert, we ordered the Nutella and Banana Crepe ($12.90), which was topped with Movenpick Vanilla Ice-Cream. This was average, as the Nutella was not melted and came out slightly thick and hard.

Overall, it was a mixed meal - with both good and not so-good.

If in the area again, we might probably give another place a try.

Chinese fare Smile Feb 03, 2014

The place was not packed when we arrived for dinner. Service was efficient.

We ordered a few dishes to share amongst our party of 5.

First up was a clear broth pork rib soup with cabbage, which was good.

Next, we had a side of fried fish skin, which was by far my favourite.

Thereafter, we ordered a serving of sweet and sour pork, which was average.

Lastly, we had a plate of fried rice.

Overall, it was a good meal. I will be back.

Daily Specials OK Jan 29, 2014

Subway has these daily specials which are good value, $5 for just a choice out of 4 sandwich types (Tuna Mayo, Cold Cut Trio, Ham, or Egg), and includes a regular drink.

I was in the area and decided to go for the Cold Cut Trio daily special, which is stacked with turkey-based meats - ham, salami and bologna. I selected all the sides (including tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, lettuce etc) except for chillis, onions and pickles. The vegs were fresh, the cheese a tad ordinary, and the bread fairly well toasted.

Service was fast, probably because this outlet was quite empty.

Overall, my sandwich was decent, a quick meal, but I have also had better!

Teatime OK Jan 29, 2014

We were a party of five and it was a good thing we made reservations.

For appetizers, we shared the PS caesar and the popular truffle shoestring fries. Portions were generous.

One of us had the catch of the day, which was plated quite nicely. Tasted good too.

For desserts, we shared three slices of cake. The double chocolate blackout cake, a slice of the lemon cake, and another slice of the chocolate daily special. The chocolate cakes were very rich and not overly sweet.

Prices were average between $8-$30.

Nice chilled ambience to have tea.

Western Breakfast Smile Jan 29, 2014

Located near the side entrance of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Casa Verde offers a casual setting for all.

I ordered the Western Breakfast ($13.50) which included a small cup of orange juice, and a cup of tea or coffee.

The two slices of toast were good, and the scrambled eggs were also nicely done. I just wish they had given salt / pepper together on the plate, just like how they placed the butter and jam on the plate as well.

Salad was not overly dressed, and sausages were also cooked right.

Ambience is chilled with nice soothing music being played indoors.

Service was fair, and I liked that they took the initiative to ask to serve customers, even though the ordering was self-service at the counter.

I will likely visit again. smile
