Opening the 3rd outlet in Singapore, 313 sommerset, Soup Stock Tokyo offer their specialty in an easily accessible place.

Around 50 seats available for customers in this outlet

Yes, Soup stock Tokyo offer a small bowl of soup and a choice of either bread or rice. Well i chosen the Double Soup set so that i can have another soup to taste!! Each set come with a drink too.

The soups are presented in white paper mug-shaped bowls with a wooden tray which give off a clean and earthly feeling. Even the tables and chairs are wooden, i cant help but feeling that i am dining in with nature.

The bread serve is fluffy and soft. I especially like the flakiness after tearing it into pieces.

I had chosen Hokkaido Crab Bisque and Chicken & Vegetable soup for my double set. The Hokkaido Crab Bisque is the type of typical soup that will make you dip your breads in and eat with it. With its thick and creamy texture, the combination give off a unique seafood taste. Simply wonderful.

Chicken and Vegetable - This is a form of comfort food for me. The soup is lightly flavored but you can taste the natural sweetness of the chicken meat and cabbage. This help to balance off the heavy food that i had for Hokkaido Crab Bisque.

Verdict: 3.5 /5

Price: $12 per pax

I will give it a 3.5 points as these are really comfort food for everyone. Presentation of food is very earthly and natural. You can really find calmness for the food serve here.

Along the stretch of shophouses near Haji Lane, there is this nostalgic old style coffeeshop selling Foo Chow delights for many years. Of course, one of the highlight is the Foo Chow fishballs which many of us are familiar with. All the Foo Chow fishballs and dumplings here are handmade from fish paste, which is a very uncommon practice to find in Singapore.

On the menu: Red wine chicken soup, Foo Chow fishballs and dumplings noodles, yam abacus and fried rice cake.

Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua ($5.00) - I totally enjoyed this bowl of red wine chicken soup. Soup was just nice, neither too thick nor oily. Flavouring was acceptable, not as heavy as its reddish appearance. Broth was lightly absorbed by the mee sua which makes it a perfect combination to eat with. Chicken meat was tender as well. However, raddish was undercook.

Foo Chow Combination ($5.00) - A bowl of combination ingredients which includes foo chow fishballs, pork dumplings and fish dumplings. Fishball is irregular in shape and totally not bouncy like the usual machine-made fishballs. However the portion of fishpaste is little, thus makes the fishball taste slightly starchy instead of bouncy. Dumplings were good, thinly wrapped with minced pork and fish. Mee pok noodles were tossed in braised black soya sauce (lor chap) which makes the springy noodles very flavoured.

Well marinated minced pork within a foochow fishball

Verdict: 3.5/5

Rather than usual brunch along the Haji lane area, do come for a filling bowl of authentic foochow fishball noodle for a change.

Address: 33 Sultan Gate Singapore 10 mins walk from Bugis MRT, near Haji Lane

iSteaks Diner - Serangoon Garden OK Jan 29, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

Welcome to iSteaks Diner, a coffeeshop stall which repackage and relocated in My Village at Serangoon Garden. iSteak diner offer affordable and at the same time maintain quite a good standard of taste for western food. It is usually packed at the weekends especially after 7pm.

Variety of food selection from beef to fish, burgers, pasta and even finger food. All mains come with 2 choice of side dishes

There is food counter and a separate drink counter, hence you have to queue at both counters to get your food and drink

I ordered a water chestnut drink - super sweet........

Medium well NZ Ribeye 180g with mushroom sauce. Oh, you can choose to have black pepper sauce too. Sides are Macaroni & cheese and Baked potato. The Macaroni & cheese taste ok, slightly undercooked. The baked potato is literally baked in an oven and served hot. Outer skin is slightly crisp, not easily removed

Honey ginger chicken with garden salad and baked beans. Chicken was nicely cooked with a jest of sweetness due to the honey, but cant really taste the ginger. Salad taste alright but the baked beans was a disappointment, too starchy and taste like some bottled chili sauce. Totally put off.....

Photogenic Food...

Medium cooked Ribeye. Well, looking by this colour i think it is close to what i want.

Verdict: 3 /5

Food taste normal, nothing really "Wow" about the food. The only good part is that service is prompt and price is relatively cheaper than some of the restaurant in Singapore. Staffs are friendly and they direct us to help ourselves to the cutlery.

Milk and Honey Gelato - Bedok 86 Smile Jan 29, 2015

Milk and Honey Gelato

I had heard of this shop situated in the Bedok but have not actually step in here before as it is too far east from where I am staying. Finally have time to have visit this shop and have a taste of it. Located at the corner of Blk 86 bedok, this small little gelato shop offer wide range of gelato flavours such as chocolate and pistachio flavour which are they best seller. They also sell Mao Shan Wang flavour too for durian lover.

Wide range of gelato selections. You can ask to taste them before deciding which flavours that you like to have

Set meals available, get the buddy meal if you want to try 2 different flavours of gelatos

Opening hours

White Mac & Shy Green nut ice cream waffles - The white mac consist of macadamia nuts and white chocolate. The mixture is supreme!! I totally like this flavour. Shy Green nut is made of pistachio and chocolate flakes. It does not fare too bad compare to the White Mac, strong pistachio taste which goes well with the chocolate flakes. Simply wonderful. Waffles taste normal. Phone 9838 0687

Verdict: 3 /5

Price: -

In terms of food, i really have not much complaint. Except for the fact that there are no syrup provided? Maybe i am used to having either maple or honey syrup to go with the ice cream waffles. But here, none was provided. Gelato is really good. no complaint.

Service provided is not that great. Stain and dirt can be seen from the utensils and cups that are provided. Really turn off when I saw all these.

Victor's Kitchen - Sunshine Plaza OK Jan 29, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

I have heard so much about Victor's Kitchen and had pass by this cafe many times. Finally, after so many years, i get to try their famous dim sum. Located in Sunshine plaza, along side with the famous parklane wanton noodle, this cafe is always packed with customers especially during meal hours and weekend.

If you are willing to wait, which waiting hour could be quite long, then you get to chance to taste their wonderful handmade dim sum.

HK Summer Iced Tea (冰镇奶茶) $3.20 - Smooth in texture and rich in flavour. This is their famous iced milk tea. The ratio of tea and milk are in right proportion which i like, with acceptable sweetness. The cup of tea is place in a bowl of ice so that the ice will not dilute the drink and affect its taste. Very considerate thought for the customers.

Golden Egg Yolk Lava Buns (黄金流沙包) $4.80 - Bestseller

One of their bestseller, the salted egg yolk oozed out from the bun when you take a bite at it. Savoury, buttery and rich in flavour. The buns are fluffy and soft in texture. It is really nice to eat with the filling in it. These buns are a must try.

Oozing egg yolk in action!!!!!

Siew Mai $4.80 - 4 pieces of pork filled dumplings. The pork are juicy and sweet and the fillings are quite generous considered that it is wrapped thinly. Yummy!! I would recommend this dish.

Victor's King Prawn Dumpling (超级虾饺皇) $5.20 - This is another must try dish. The dumplings were sweet and crunchy, it is also filled with 2 whole BIG prawns wrapped within the dumpling!! Wow!!! Usually, most Har Kao are wrapped with 1 or 1 & half prawn in it. Hence, this is really a surprise and enjoyment to me.

Chili Specialty - Don't be deceived by it's look, this is really spicy. I guess it is made up of dry chili and garlic and blend together? LOL, try it yourself.

Steamed Carrot Cake w/ XO Sauce (XO酱干贝腊味蒸萝卜糕) $4.80 - This is one of their specialty dish. On the outside, the steamed carrot cake look like paste. However, after u cut it open, strands of carrots slices lay underneath the paste. This diminished the overall texture of this dish. I only like the upper layer of the paste. Although the strands of carrot are soft, but it just don't match with the texture. Really disappointed. Light soy sauce are poured over the carrot cake for flavour,

Prawn Chee Cheong Fun $4.80 - 3 prawns in each rolls with light soy sauce pour over it.

Golden "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns (菠萝蜜汁叉烧包)$5.20 - A new item on the menu. You can really smell the butter when it is served hot. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The buns are filled with chunky pork meat fillings.

Did you see the chunky pork meat in the bun???

Nemo's Porridge $4.80 - Sliced fish with preserved egg porridge. A bit bland in flavour but it comes with generous serving of sliced fish and eggs. Porridge are cooked till slightly thicken and mushy texture.

Verdict 3.5 /5

Well, i wasn't expected much since i heard that the standard of food drop drastically. I feel that most of the food here are edible but nothing fantastic. I like the "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns served here as it is really delicious and fragrant while serve hot. The ice milk tea is also tasty and smoothing.

The service i receive wasn't that great too. For me as a first timer, the "auntie" simply place the order form on the table and leave without any instructions. So i ordered the food that i like to have and "seek" someone to attend to me. The time that i went was after 2pm, after lunch hour, hence by right shouldn't have much difficulty seeking for attention. But it prove otherwise.

Despite all, i still feel that you should come and visit here if you have not done so. I will visit here again if i really have an urge to eat the dim sum.
