Why are they called Lychee Pop?
The lychee infused pearls actually pop!
That's why…
lol

These pearls were like lychee syrup infused into the bubbly pearl membranes.
These sweet little lychee pearls literally burst popping with an effortless pressure.
Yes! Absolutely Effortless…
smile

The Soya Bean Milk was ice-blended till frothy to give it a refreshing sensation on your palette…
Hmm…very cooling!

Although it was not stated in the newspaper cutting, but I was told that the $1 discount was for the purchase of an upsized cup of Lychee Pop.
smile

So I paid $2.50 (with the coupon) instead of the usual price of $3.50 per upsized Tropical Drink (Lychee Pop or Sunrise Pop).
smile

The store is very small inside. There's only enough standing space for 3 customers & the rest will have to be queuing outside the store. However, the staffs are very efficient. My order was ready in only a matter of a few chats!

Verdict:  chopstickchopstickchopstick

I'm a very happy customer.

Came here for breakfast, today.

For some, it may be a little troublesome to carry an extra card in the wallet, but it's probably the cheapest in this estate.

The Vegetarian Bee Hoon is only $2.25 while a cup of Teh-O is only 81 cents!!!

Best of all…there is No Compromise on Quality & Quantity.

The fried bee hoon is tasteful & QQ, I can even eat it on its own... 😋
The 2 types of mock meats are very tasty but not as salty as other outlets... 😋
The mock goose meat 斋鹅 is very crispy & just dissolve in your mouth after every crunch…😋
The cabbage is fresh, cooked till soft & sweet… 😋
I simply must ask if they sell their red chili paste, so delicious… 😋
The tea thickness of the Teh-O is just nice (some outlets were too bland & others were too bitter), the added sugar is mild. Just the way I liked it... 😋

Oh Yes!
I must mention…I came here alone.
As I sat down to eat my food, a lady staff (in their uniform) came over to offer to buy drinks for me. I said I will buy it later as I'm using the card. She said it's ok, she can buy for me.
I was so touched & it felt so nice as I continued eating. When I looked up, she was already in the long queue at the drink stall. She later came back with my hot drink, my card & the receipt. It was the exact balance, no extra charges!

It was really a very pleasant experience eating here. 😊😊😊

Best place for good quality food & great customer service!

It's a scorching day.
I walked in wanting to cool off from the heat & quench my thirst.
Hmm...there's a different lady preparing the desserts, today.
Hopeful that she'll be generous with the ice shavings.
smile

Hey! They finally displayed a user-friendly menu...

Nice... smile

I placed an order for Ice Cheng Tng.
Wow!
She's a fast worker!
My bowl of the sweet soup appeared instantly!
I didn't even got time to get my payments ready!
lol

What a disappointment...! sad
Oh my...what had happened?!
shocked
Bitter Gingko Nuts, Bland Longans & Sweet Soup tasted like Water!!!

Bitter Gingko Nuts, Bland Longans & Sweet Soup tasted like Water!!!

This is definitely not the Cheng Tng that I used to like here...
I tried my very best to eat...but failed.
I brought my bowl of "sweet" soup back to the lady when the queue had gone. She grumbled that a lot of people had been complaining that it was too sweet even though I told her that it tasted like plain water. sad

A man walked over to queue behind me while I thanked her after she added ½ a scoop of syrup. They had a "little" loud discussion on my request...it was so embarrassing!
How I wished I could ask them to taste it...?! sad

Anyway,I walked back to finish the dessert.
It was really a ton of difference!
Perhaps, they should have a SOP for the preparation.

This experience made me think more than twice to patronize it again!
OR...maybe, I should had been more observance & only order when the other lady was preparing the desserts.

sad sad sad

Today is EWYFD (Eat With Your Family Day)!
Not wanting to spend precious time cooking & washing, we decided to eat out & at the same time do some shopping.
It's been a long time since we stepped into this restaurant. We were surprised to be informed of the tea-time promotion of 30% off from the total bill for member.

The interior setting was a mixed of Zen & Modern Functionality. It exudes the uniqueness of Japanese serenity in a subtle way through...

We ordered 2 set meals & a lunchtime special set. Hubby got the Beef Set, son had the Clam Set. The cheerful waitress served us a pot of hot glutenous rice green tea (member's privilege) as soon as she had taken our order. I used a complimentary drink coupon (c/w selected set meal in the menu) to redeem a cup of hot tea while son added a bottle of chilled Bubbly Sake to his set meal at a special price of only $10!

Yummy, filling, cheap & great!

Yummy, filling, cheap & great!

My lunchtime special set consisted of...
a plate of Kushikatsu with Tonkatsu Sauce (2 skewers of chunky breaded Salmon, Shiitake Mushroom, Scallop & Leek) which were crispy outside, succulent & juicy inside;
a tiny container of extra Teriyaki sauce;
a bowl of well-seasoned kelp soup;
a chawanmushi with tender chicken, fishcake, crab stick & mushroom;
all the above is completed with a bowl of very flavorful Char Siew Rice that was of humongous portion!
I couldn't finished the whole Bento without help from hubby & son (as their portion were also very delightfully filling!)

The fact that the men kept eating was proof that their food must had been good also. Son was having endless time picking up the clam shells & chomping away while smiling at us ever so often... smile    The Chef must had been very generous with the ingredients... lol

Verdict: chopstick chopstick chopstick

We had a great time enjoying each other's company, had a hearty time chatting & laughing for the time spent there & will definitely go back more often!

"EWYFD 2014 is a one of the key highlights of the International Year of the Family. The event aims to encourage Singaporeans to set aside a day to share a meal and spend quality time with their families. Through this event, CFF hopes to strengthen family ties by encouraging Singaporeans to eat together more frequently with their families throughout the year.
The act of eating together, especially in Asian societies, is a common social practice and it promotes family interaction. It is also a major element during important festive occasions such as Lunar New Year celebrations and birthdays. Families can bond over food and cherish family moments by having meals together. Family mealtime has become an integral and almost inseparable part of a family’s shared experience and contributes to the strengthening of the family unit."

What Are the Rules of Dining at a Buffet?
#1 You Don’t Have To Always Eat All
#2 Keep It Clean
#3 Take Care of Your Server
- Richie Frieman, Modern Manners Guy
* * * * * * *

We were here for an advance Mother's Day dinner so as to reserve the actual day for my mother & mother-in-law.
It was slightly 15 minutes later than our reserved timing when we arrived at the restaurant. I was worried that our reserved table would had been given away. we might have to wait for awhile with our extremely stomachs.
To my astonishment, the charmingly friendly host escorted us to an exclusive dining corner reserved especially for us!
"This is going to be a very enjoyable evening..."
"Hmm...Nice..."
"Wow! So special ahh..."
"Felt like VIP already..."
smile

All of us settled down, chatted a little with sips of the icy cold water (served diligently by the servers). Then, I volunteered to remain at the table while my family went on a recce tour of the restaurants.
This encave corner is very decorative, it looked like a table set by the window that oversee a tranquil town besides the mountain. There were also bottles of wine, olive oil, beautiful plates set on the walls. Even the glassware looked imported...
I was still absorbing the zen vibes of this little exclusive corner when my family members began to trickle back...each with a plate of their favorite starter, in small portions.
smile
Pleasurable!

Pleasurable!

The men started with the fresh seafood while we ladies prefered sashimi, salads & cold cuts.
The freshly shuckled oysters...were plump, briny & all you have to do is slurp up everything!
Although mignonette was available, I had mine with Tobasco, Green Pepper Tobasco or just plain.
"How did you like your oysters?"
Fresh, Succulent & Will-never-have-enough-of...

Fresh, Succulent & Will-never-have-enough-of...

Daughters & I went for the Sashimi, next.
There was not many varieties but the slices were fresh, thick & juicy. Oishi!
Simply marvelous!

Simply marvelous!

The crayfish tasted firm, springy & full of its natural flavor...m m m . . .
They have plenty of the delicious big prawns, succulent mussels & springy scallops.
We would simply have just eaten these throughout the evening...although the baskets were emptied as soon as they were filled, the servers were dilligently replenishing them...
Nice!
I call them Palate Openers...

I call them Palate Openers...

The crunchy asparagus mixed with flaky cooked salmon made a surprisingly pleasing salad...
I especially liked the Dory Fish in sweet & sour sauce, it just opened up my palate...
The mushroom salad was full of different types of mushrooms like the shiitake, the drumstick, the portabelo, the straw, the inoki & the abalone...
Yummy!
Crispy!

Crispy!

An unlikely choice for most but a delightful find for me! The crispiness of the papadum, the tanginess of the mint sauce (from the Roasted Lamb station), the soothing yogurt & the spiciness of the red chutney (yes, i wondered what it was made of, too)...all came to unlock the saliavary gland so as to be prepared for more exciting flavours!
Hmm...Interesting...

Hmm...Interesting...

I discovered a DIY Gado-Gado station! Although the ingredients were slightly cold, the warm, tangy & slightly sweet peanut sauce was a delight! I liked the way they double-boiled the peanut sauce. A small claypot of the peanut sauce was kept warm in the constantly heated water of a slightly bigger claypot. Very thoughtful, right?!
The fried crispy taukwa might looked dry but it was really soft & moist inside; the cabbages, long beans & bean sprouts were scaldded perfectly - retaining the crunchiness; the chewy & flavorful tempeh was a surprise, very difficult to find it in this dish elsewhere now...
Overall satisfaction!
Delicious & Healthy!

Delicious & Healthy!

This station was not manned throughout. A courteous young man came to my rescue as soon as he saw me stopped there. So nice...
The lamb was tenderly roasted, tomatoes were lightly grilled & was delightfully sweet, the potato & veggies complimented the dish very well.
Very authentic Nonya gravy...yum!

Very authentic Nonya gravy...yum!

This was a pleasant surprise among the western lot of cuisine served here. It had a distinct Nonya flavour. Delightfully additive for a partial-Nonya like me...

Yes. It was an Enjoyable Evening!
It's a promise that "We Will Be Back!"

** Did you know **
The oyster world seems overwhelming, but there are only five species of oysters in the world, and it’s easy to tell one from another.
Don’t say “oyster juice,” say “liquor.” - Oyster liquor is the natural juice inside the oyster that keeps it alive once it’s out of the water. It is unacceptable to rinse or dump that juice out of the oyster before consuming it raw. That juice is precious and should taste amazing, and that’s why it’s referred to as liquor. It should be clear not cloudy.
