Awesome food! Smile Dec 21, 2014

We wanted to go to Wo Peng but it was full house and we did not make a reservation. So we walked down the street and chanced upon this restaurant. And it was a blessing in disguise! The restaurant served a variety of stuff! For instance, there were 10 types of chicken dishes in the menu! We ordered their signature tofu, together with salted egg pork ribs and 3-egg spinach. They served fried crackers and wet tissues, which you can opt not to have if you want to reduce unnecessary cost. The spinach was average and were a little harder than what i preferred. The starch gravy was not the most flavourful one that i have eaten. Their tofu was good, a little hard on the outside and jelly-like soft in the inside! On top of it were cai po (salted garnish) and flour bits, which gave the crunchy feel as you eat the tofu together with the rice. Delicious! The best of all was the salted egg pork ribs. This is the best salted egg marinated dish i have ever eaten! The pork ribs was actually without bones and the meat was soft. The salted egg flavouring was throughout the pork meat, unlike some places where you wished you had more salted egg! However, it does seem a little too salty after eating more than 5 pieces. Nevertheless, it was my favourite dish! We ordered all Small sizes as well as a bowl of rice each and were really full in the end. Total cost amounted to $32 for 2 pax. Reasonable.

Lunch in CBD - Roasted meat Smile Dec 21, 2014

Walked over to Golden Shoe Complex for lunch and decided to go for the Tiong Bahru Roasted Pig Specialist stall. Ordered roasted pork and roasted chicken meat. Delicious! It was my first time trying out this stall after so many visits to the complex and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. The roasted pork was springy and oily, but that was what made it perfect. The layer of fats was just nice, not too excessive or little. The meat itself was not dry and tough. It was simply delighting to eat it. The roasted chicken felt more towards average, but was still nice. The portion size was filling enough together with the rice. I regreted not asking for more gravy on the rice as the gravy was really flavourful.
Sometimes hawker food can be great too, and cheap! Will definitely come back for more.

Back yet again! Smile Dec 20, 2014

Headed back to my all-time favourite dining place - Shokudo at Cineleisure.
This time, i ordered the curry omu rice with ebi prawns. As always, the sweet flavourful curry blends perfectly well with the omelette rice! Not spicy at all, so those non-spicy lovers can try it too. However, towards the end of the meal i felt that the curry tasted saltier. Guess it happens when consumed in excess. The fried ebi prawns tasted average, with the flour obviously making the prawns crunchy and nice to munch on.
We ordered matcha float as well, which tasted exactly the way it's named.
Staff were still in shortage, as always, and the food took around 20 to 30minutes to arrive, once again. Overall, Shokudo is a place where i never felt hungry still after my meal, unlike many other restaurants/cafes. Will be back again!

Went to Vivocity Paradise Dynasty, which was conveniently located at Harbourfront MRT station.
Finally got to try the famous 8 flavoured xiao long bao! The 8 flavours are Original, Garlic, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Roe, and Szechuan. My personal favourites are the foie gras and ginseng. This is because they tasted closest to their names, while displaying fragrance and flavour that makes you crave for more. The crab roe and cheese taste weird in my opinion, but it still was interesting and innovative to come out with different flavour xiao long baos. The garlic and black truffle however were not really convincing. I had expected more flavour from the garlic one as garlic dishes usually taste strong in garlic taste.
We ordered 8 pieces for each pax and it was just sufficient for us to keep our tummies filled. For big eaters, you may wish to order another small dish to add on.
The restaurant is big  and spacious with plenty of seatings. There may be a short wait during peak meal times. Staffing is bad though. We had to wait very long for our orders and for the bill.

Korean famous Galbi Chicken Smile Dec 09, 2014

Categories : Korean

We decided to try the famous Galbi korean chicken and octupus, which is korean spicy sauce marinated chicken and octopus. The marinated meat tastes good and addictive, not too salty or spicy. We also added 2 servings of Ramyeon noodles, which is similar to instant noodle in my opinion. However, they tasted really good together with the sauce and the texture is a little rubbery. The staff would start off by bringing the uncooked meat and all the other dishes like cabbages. They will then add the sauce before starting to fry/cook the meat together. As the cooking is done, you could smell the fragrance and get eager to start eating. The noodle would be thrown in together to cook. Other toppings include cheese fried rice and udon noodles. We were given aprons just in case the sauce splashes out onto our clothes during their cooking. Overall, the oil smell did not stain too bady on our clothes after eating. There is also a salad bar at the side which consisted of some korean vegetables like kimchi. Iced water is complimentary.
