Decided to try the new korean restaurant Bibigo at Suntec city mall. On my friday afternoon, the restaurant is almost full with many office people around. The restaurant is not too smoky and spacious with sufficient seatings.
We orered the Hotstone bibimbap and Spicy pork soup. Eager for the bibimbap, we were disappointed that it turned out less flavourful than we thought it would be. The sauce seemed insufficient and there was broccoli in it. Not quite the usual kind. I ordered hotstone because i had wanted the rice to turn out a little charred but it did not. The portion was not too big either. The only thing good was the marinated pork, which tasted perfect and totally addictive! The sauce on it was sweet and i would definitely order their meat set in future!
The spicy pork soup comes with a bowl of rice. It turned out less spicy than i though it would be. In fact, it was not spicy at all! The soup had tofu, pieces of pork strips and vegetable. Eaten with the rice, this dish is great! I almost wanted to order another bowl of their fragrant rice to finish up the remaining soup.
Complimentary water is available here and pricing is not too bad.

A traditional chinese restaurant along the shophouses in macpherson. One may think that it is a shabby restaurant from the outside. Although it isn't quite fanciful inside, my thoughts are that it is an old restaurant that have been around for ages, it markets itself as a premium restaurant like others.
To start off, prices aren't cheap. Most of the dishes range from $18 and above. The restaurant looks old and traditional. It has sufficient chinese staff, run by an Assistant Manager who seem a little pushy by the way she talks.
Moving on to the food, we ordered a plate of fried rice with chinese ham and salted egg. It took no more than 15 minutes for the food to arrive, but noting that there were just 2 tables occupied at the point in time. The rice smelled and tasted quite fragrant. Cooked with salted egg, we could taste the occasional pleasant saltiness of the egg with every mouthful of rice. The whole dish wasn't too salty to my surprise, which i am really glad. The only downside would be that i couldn't see any chinese ham.
We also ordered butter prawns with egg floss. The egg floss was crispy and nice as a sidedish. The prawn however, was too salty. Eating every piece feels good at the start with the butter fried taste, but ended up with a cringe on the face as it turned out to be too salty! The prawns are big and fresh but i guess they have marinated it too long with salt!!
An aircon restaurant with the usual peanuts and wet tissues, do remember to make reservations beforehand as apparently it is always full.

Lunch in CBD - Fish Soup OK Dec 24, 2014

Visited Golden Shoe Food Centre for lunch today. As usual, expect dirty tables, long waiting time for tables as well as long queues. And lastly, perspiring after your meal! Since it was a rainy day and the weather wasn't too warm, I decided to go for fish soup. Bought Ee-mian (a brown type of noodle) fish slices soup, which cost $4. The queue wasn't too long since we went before 12pm, which is the peak hour. The fish slices are fresh but thin, as expected. There were no more than 5 slices of fish! Perhaps I had expected too much. The soup was a little too salty for my liking. An overall average experience.

Visited the korean restaurant at Heartlands Mall in Kovan. Have always walked past it during weekends lunch and dinner time and always saw long queues outside the restaurant. Decided to try it for myself today. The restaurant itself is quite small with what seened like less than 20 tables. Ordered Spicy Grilled Mackerel, Korean Ginseng Soup and Korean pancake. The mackerel turned out to be spicier than i thought! The fish meat itself was not too dry and has a nice flavour to it. The korean ginseng soup was delicious. It was thick and felt as though it has been boiled together with many ingredients. The pancakes were the best! Mildy spicy, it jas kimchi flavour in it and the texture is perfect, not too hard to bite or soggy. Addictive! They serve complimentary rice barley water too. Overall, not too bad but a tad pricey!

Dinner by the river OK Dec 22, 2014

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Bars/Lounges

Chose Dallas along the Singapore river. It was really empty on a Sunday night! Perhaps due to it being a non working day - No office workers staying back for drinks! We sat near to the river outdoors and it had a weird smell from the river. we then shifted places away from the river. Ordered Roast Chicken and Penne Pasta. The serving size was good. The pasta had a little spices and was aglio olio style. It came with shreded chicken meat. Initially i thought that it would be a chicken patty! My friend ordered duck confit but it was not filling. The meat was not too dry and was average. A little pricey though. Service staff were not too friendly as well.
