What can I say about Astons? It is definitely value for money, and it attracts alot of youngsters during meal times smile This particular outlet never fails to see a queue forming during peak hours. But it may just mean that they are short handed on the staff and can't sit till full capacity if they allow everyone to come in tongue

Anyway, we just wanted a simple cheap western meal so here we are!

We ordered a pork chop set as well as a lemon lime chicken set.

This is the lemon lime chicken..nothing really special just that they gave a slice of lemon (not seen here, on the side of the plate) to squeeze on the chicken. Sauce is a bit sweet.. Love the sides..very generous serving.

My husband's pork chop set. Pork chop was full of bones. Not worth ordering this as he was still not full after eating.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Dinner)

tongue

This used to be one of my fave stall at this hawker center. Used to eat it often for supper when I was younger. We used to have to wait very long for the owner to fry the noodles and there was always a long que. These days there is still a que but not as long as they used to be .

It is still one of the nicer hokkien mee I have eaten but somehow it has lost the "oomph'' of its yesteryears.

Chilli is still good, but pity the gravy is not as wet as I wish it was tongue

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Lunch)

Do u know that Chinatown point is really quiet in the evenings on Mondays ? I have been there for dinners a couple of Mondays and the restaurants are always not filled even at dinner time. Makes me very happy as I can eat in peace with friends !

Secret garden is located in a corner near to the escalator on the 2nd floor.

We chose the Steamboat set for 2 @ S$38. And the soup base was herbal soup smile

Here's the items for our steamboat smile meat was really fresh n we had a filling dinner even thou there weren't many food items smile

Not too bad for $7.80 OK Aug 26, 2013

I have no idea what is nice to eat at this hawker center, but wanted something soupy so choose this stall of kway chap. There was no queue but that was because those waiting to be served were all seated around the stall. I waited about 10 mins before I was served.

I normally do not eat the pork skin, so that was being omitted. I was a little disappointed that they don't have small intestines. What a waste of my calories and choles. But what I like about this kway chap is that the soup and gravy were both not as salty as some of the other stalls I have eaten at!

expensive breakfast  OK Aug 22, 2013

It was my first and last time at The Plain.

It is nested at a stretch of shop houses and next door neighbour is an antique shop.

There was a crowd of white collar workers from nearby offices sipping their coffees and talking shop early in the morning. You may have to sit at the communal table if there are no tables left.

We ordered half a dean's toast and half ham and cheese (darlings) ..both with eggs. Each costing $6 is really on the steep side!! I mean i can easily make these at home.

It was ok for the first time..but I prob wouldn't return again unless for coffee
