Worth the money spent  Smile Sep 18, 2013

There are many stalls selling nasi lemak at this hawker center. My husband bought from this stall because they dont have a long que like some of the rest.

Surprisingly the food is nice! This place cost about $3.50 and comes with 4 items. Not too shabby! Husband said the chili is nice and rice aren't lumpy. I tried some and I quite like it myself too! The chicken wing wasn't too oily and am getting hungry as I write this!

Minimalist decor for a bakery  Smile Sep 17, 2013

I have read about BAO on the papers before they were open. Since I am just staying 5 mins away, I decided to check it out on the first day of biz. BAO is located on the 2nd level of a office/retail building diagonally opposite of the Singapore Casket. The nearest MRT station for now would be Lavender. I have passed by this building countless times on my way home and always wondered if the building is for commercial use. There is not much promotions with regards to the shops inside.

BAO is a collaboration between Patisserie G's Gwen Lim & ex pastry chef of Candele Christophe Grilo. The chef was presented that day and could be seen at the kitchen baking away smile Liberty coffee also had a pop up on the first day of biz serving coffee to customers.

The building below is CT Hub.

Wanted to try the croissants but sold out at 2pm . So I got these instead smile sea salt crossiants ($1.50 each) has some salty taste to it. Not overly buttery. The raisins bun was rather normal thou not as sweet as some other bakery in my opinion smile The bread offerings change from time to time as told by the friendly server.

There are no signage to the bakery. They have an open concept shopfront. it's on the 2nd level and you wouldn't miss it. They are the only shop that is open on that level for now.

Snapped a quick pic of the shop front from the escalator.

The food and cafe scene around Lavender and Jalan Besar is indeed thriving~

Best sugar roll  Smile Sep 04, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Halal

I had a $10 gift voucher from a colleague for her baby's full month celebration. It has been quite awhile since I got something from Polar. So decided to redeem some puffs and cakes for my family from this branch since I was at the vicinity .

i dismembered that they really have very nice curry puffs but of late, the quality of it seemed to have dropped. All u get these days are alot of pastry and not much filling sad

I am so glad that the sugar roll is still as good as I remembered them to be!! Yay to that!! I got two , one of me and my husband and the curry puffs for my family ( didn't snap any pic of them )

Do keep the rolls in the fridge if you are not consuming it immde. so that the sugar coating will not melt away smile

Filling food at econimcal prices  OK Aug 28, 2013

What can I say about Astons? It is definitely value for money, and it attracts alot of youngsters during meal times smile This particular outlet never fails to see a queue forming during peak hours. But it may just mean that they are short handed on the staff and can't sit till full capacity if they allow everyone to come in tongue

Anyway, we just wanted a simple cheap western meal so here we are!

We ordered a pork chop set as well as a lemon lime chicken set.

This is the lemon lime chicken..nothing really special just that they gave a slice of lemon (not seen here, on the side of the plate) to squeeze on the chicken. Sauce is a bit sweet.. Love the sides..very generous serving.

My husband's pork chop set. Pork chop was full of bones. Not worth ordering this as he was still not full after eating.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Dinner)

Bad Mee Goreng  Cry Aug 27, 2013
Categories : Indian | Halal

Let me be the first one to give a negative review.... We were slightly peckish and what we want is just some drinks and something simple to eat.

At 10.30pm there was nothing much to eat around arab street except for those 'western, middle eastern eats . So we decided to cross the road to Zam Zam . We procceded up the stairs to the 2nd aircon level. Prata would be a good supper choice no? But guess what! They do not have prata! What they have are bryanii and mutabak and mee goreng. So since we are there already might as well order a plate of mee goreng.

It was really by far one of the worst plate of mee goreng ever eaten. It cost $4. Veggie tasted uncook, meat was tough, noodles were clammy and slightly oily.
We just couldn't finish it..

Trust me i wouldn't be going back again.
