Black Ice Cream Smile Aug 05, 2012

I love this place for being such a serene and peaceful hideout. I love it even more for it's Hei ice cream and original All Chocolate cake. At $11.80 per pint and $25.80 for a 6 inch cake repectively, I'd say prices are pretty reasonable.

Their ice cream is not too sweet and you can tell that it is made using quality Belgian dark chocolate. It is very rich and dense, but perhaps a bit too dense for my liking. Chocolate fanatics, on the other hand, would probably down these by the dozens.

Hei ice cream

They also serve a small range of cupcakes and specialty dessert that are worth a try.

Used to pass by this shop on my way to work and would salivate but never got around to try the cakes here. Fianally decided to get a whole cake from them for my dad's birthday. Was told that the Passionfruit Meringue was their specialty, and so I placed a order for that. Apparently you are supposed to eat it on the day itself, otherwise the texture would not be the same anymore. Slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and with a layer of sponge. We kept some leftovers till the next day, but it still tasted just as awesome to me. I just wish the cake was taller.

For those making a trip to get their single slices, it is advisable to go earlier in the day. Most of their cakes are usually sold out by late afternoon.

For a good cuppa Smile Jan 04, 2012

The last time I was here with a friend, I had a simple Hot Chocolate (comes with two mini cookies) and my friend had a Toffee Choc Frappe. Hot Chocolate could have done with a bit more chocolatey taste. From what I had, it tasted just like cocoa powder with milk, lots and lots of milk.

I visit tcc quite often with my family. Their Caramel Ginger Crumble Crush is a winner for me, on days I don't mind the caffeine. I just wish they would up their glass sizes a bit, afterall $8 for a drink is pretty hefty. If you're here for a bite, you've got to try their Shrooms Bite. Honestly, it's flaky, buttery pastry oozing with creamy mushroom filling will take you to heaven and back. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of these with me, but you could visit their website and take a look.

Love this place because it is a slightly quieter place to chill out in the area, as compared to the mall across the road that is always teeming with people. Used to com here for breakfast with my family, and have had fond memories of their Smoked Salmon Sandwich. This time, I was here to catch up with a friend over drinks. I had a Hot Chocolate and hers an Iced Chocolate. It came with a nice yummy scoop of chocolate gelato, but after scooping in, she found that underneath was mostly ice and less gelato or drink for that matter. Menu also says that its comes with cookies, but they didn't give us any. Nontheless, their food and drinks are still pretty decent on taste.

Festive Joe Smile Dec 25, 2011

To mark the end of their 12 days Christmas promo, Starbucks was offering one for one for their festive drinks! Naturally, the Starbucks addict in us couldn't resist and we set out to get our half-priced frappes. lol My friend had previously tried the Toffe Nut Frappe before and apparently claimed that it wasn't that good, so we went for Starbuck's newest creation, the Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha Frappe, instead. And boy, am I glad we did! It was a cup-load of aromatic coffee beans and infused with sweet, creamy notes of white chocolate. You wouldn't expect it but the cranberry sauce and bits sprinkled on top added a nice tart finish to the drink. I especially love how Starbucks allows you to customise almost any drink you want. I had mine without whip cream and decaff-ed, as i didn't want it too heavy and was trying to lay off the caffeine. If you have an under-developed sweet tooth, just request for less sugar. I'm pretty sure they'll accomodate that too. Only turn off was the environment. Baristas were clanging and banging the counter tops like nobody's business, we could hardly hold a conversation above the racket and ended up moving outside. sad But well, i guess if anyone had that many customers to serve, they'd be clanging and banging counter tops too.
