Set Meal for Dinner Smile Jul 10, 2012

This place is really great and I can't believe more people aren't raving about The Black Sheep Cafe already.

We ordered a set meal each from the different tiers that they offered. The server was very attentive in offering you suggestions, introducing their dishes, and also refilling your water. What's great about this place is that there's no additional GST or service tax!

After ordering, we were served our bread which still warm and toasty

The foie gras was perfect in size and how the foie gras was cooked.

Duck Confit and Beef Tenderloin seemed to be the choices that food reviewers and the waiter said that customers would normally consume at the restaurant.

Here's the Duck Confit from different angles. The mango salad side was great to complement the duck confit and if a change of flavor and texture was needed. The Duck Confit's meat was marinated well and at the same time juicy without making a mess of the plate

Here's the beef tenderloin at different angles. The meat was cut perfectly and despite having sides that are offered on the airplane, the greens were fresh and tasted great. In each bite, you could really feel the tender and care that was put in each plate by the chef.

Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Too many choices Smile Apr 24, 2012

Ate here with a bunch of friends and got to try various dishes.

Personally ordered their Spruce Signature Burger. The fries were tasty and were served hot. The meat patty in the burger was juicy and thick as well. The plate did not look like much at first, but I had trouble finishing the plate! The Burger itself seemed really worth it. However, the fries are too much if just eaten by one person. A side salad would have been a better choice.

The Selection with the Crab Cake was recommended by friends who frequented Spruce and the presentation hotel style. Really filling as well despite its looks.

If you come here, be prepared to make reservations beforehand, else you might not be able to get a seat. Also, if you're in a hurry, this place is not ideal as the restaurant is bustling with customers and orders. A good choice to have a slow and lazy Sunday morning/brunch though. smile

Had a guest visit from overseas and decided that Long Beach Seafood was the place to go!

Their fried baby squid was crispy like crackers. Not too salty, but a little bit was enough. Maybe I'm not too fond of the sauce.

Black Pepper Crab! lol
The claw was absolutely humongous and the meat was juicy and succulent. Though they only provided one of those "crackers", it wasn't really needed as the meat stayed in one piece and could easily be slid out of its shell. For the lazy, beware when trying to bite on the crabs cause your teeth might be the one breaking instead. I would totally go back to this branch for their Black Pepper Crab because they really do it well.

Always a kid's favorite. Despite being sinful, their Butter-Fried Frog legs is absolutely delectable. The taste of butter is soaked into the meat of the frog legs and the meat is so easily torn away from the bones. mad

Dessert was a refreshing lime and lychee combo. Loved how it didn't taste like something that came out of a can. smile

Was here for parents' anniversary and got to try an array of dishes

The Shark Fin Soup was served hot and when sipped upon, did not feel any guilt from unwanted calories as the soup was not overly sticky and the texture was just right
Shark Fin Soup

Shark Fin Soup

Lobster

Lobster

Lobster was served while as one of the dishes. The flavor was not overpowering and you could taste the sweetness of the meat

The duck was chopped up and served with cold cabbage.
Steamed fish

Steamed fish

The Steamed Fish' meat was soft and supple. The picture is after the servers had separated portions for everyone.
Abalone

Abalone

Abalone and mushroom. The abalone and mushroom was cooked to perfection. The taste was easy on the buds and easily sliced and chewed. The vegetables on the side was a good touch.
Sausages

Sausages

Their sausage rice is supposed to be their specialty at the restaurant. The manager stopped by to describe the process of cooking and how important timing was to make sure the rice was just right. There were several selections of sausage to choose from and gravy was provided for us to add to our rice if we wanted more saltiness and flavor.
delectable!

delectable!

Dessert was light and refreshing. This must be the best chrysanthemum and 'gou ji' dessert I've had in Singapore. Not too sweet and perfect to end the night.

The servers were very courteous and when asked on several occasions for sauces of several kinds, they were served immediately without delay, nor was the request 'forgotten". Perhaps it was because they were slightly older and experienced in providing good service.

Was craving dou hua at night and got this for take-away at night

The douhua is served hot or cold and instead of one shaped like that of your bowl, they actually slice off pieces. Each bite feels solid unlike the soybean tofu made of powder which dissipates as soon as you put it in your mouth.

So glad there are more than 3 establishments; the stall at Balestier is brightly lit and clean (which is always a plus).

Their Portuguese egg tarts are good even when left overnight tongue
Definitely can fight with KFC eggtarts
The crust is done and layered well
