Yhingthai is where you can authentic thai food in a classy environment that is not too classy that you feel out of place, but you get the feeling that you're in your private dining room. There were some family issues going on in the corner of the restaurant and everyone was quite respectful on what was going on.

The staff are quite friendly and open to you changing your orders. ie. if you don't eat...pork they can substitute the meat, or if you want to add an egg to your Basil Fried Rice.

Tom Yam comes in two choices when you are here: with or without coconut milk (good if you're calorie conscious). I believe there's also spicy and non-spicy version. Served on a nice delicate porcelain bowl

Olive Fried Rice had a very well presentation and tasted great. The ingredients are placed surrounding the purple rice so you can choose what you want to mix inside

Recommended Dish(es):  Tom Yum, Olive Fried Rice

Mookata Smile Nov 28, 2013
Categories : Thai | Coffeeshop | Steamboat/Hot Pot

My first time Mookata-ing, and I think it was really worth it. I can't remember the exact price but it was approximately $35 for their set which includes 2 eggs, soup, pork meat, veggies, and seafood (prawns).

Their sauce is quite good which consisted of Thai chili sauce, garlic..and of course since it's their house sauce they have other ingredients inside.

The soup base consists of Tom Yam or Chicken Soup and it comes along with the set.
It took a while for the pot to come but it's probably because they were trying to light up the charcoal. We had to scoop the soup into the bowl and then waited for the soup to boil before we started cooking the veggies.

Mookata is really sinful because you can BBQ and steamboat at the same time. The juices of the meats that you BBQ also flow into the soup so your soup is really tasty.

One mistake that we made was that we left the pork fat/lard to the end, but we should have cooked it in the beginning. (We thought it was sliced fish)

You have to pay your meal at the stall but be patient as the workers seem to not be able to speak English well and are from Thailand smile

Carrot cake Cry Nov 28, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Café

I'm a huge fan of carrot cake but this did not make it because...it's way too sweet.
I've had Seventh Heaven ice cream before but I never thought I'd be disappointed by their desserts. The carrot cake was overly sweet and I could barely eat anymore a couple spoons in.

The redeeming quality is that it took a while for the cake to come out because it was served warm. However, because it was warm the cream was sliding everywhere.

At least the carrot cake had legit strips of carrot inside.

Service staff wasn't very attentive in refilling water and was chatting behind the counter. Sitting in the cafe makes you pay service tax and gst

Lunch Set is very worth Smile Nov 27, 2013

Categories : American | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

Came here on a weekday and was surprised that they had a Set lunch that is available from 11am to 2pm.
It includes access to their Buffet Salad Bar, Soft drinks, and a single scoop of ice cream.
I think it's super worth it, say, if you come at 11am and eat till you're bloated, you'd barely be hungry for dinner!

I ordered their Black Pepper Sirloin Steak which is $19.90 ++, and my friend ordered the Pan Grilled Salmon which is also $19.90++

The service staff was very hasty in trying to get our orders, but I think there seemed to be a lack of communication between the staffs themselves. Better communication between them would allow them to be more efficient.

Steak was supposed to come with seasonal veggies which turned out to be the squash and tomatoes pictured. Presentation-wise it was a little below my expectations, but then I reasoned that the vegetables were technically already available via the salad bar. The steak was rather nicely done though and it's really worth it if you consider the price that's on their regular menu.

Salad Round 1

After many rounds...another salad plate.
There are many salad dishes to choose from and they do switch some of the dishes when they run out

Mocha Ice cream was not too sweet nor too bitter. Just right for me to end my meal blissfully smile

Recommended Dish(es):  salad bar,lunch set

Spending per head: Approximately $25(Lunch)

Paradise Smile Nov 27, 2013
Categories : American | Ice Cream and Gelato

Haagen Dazs' Paradise comes with 6 flavors that you can choose from (you need not go by the book).

The flavors that were chosen were Rum Raisin, Green Tea, Mango Sorbet, Macadamia Nut, Cappuccino Truffle, and Tiramisu.

The Tiramisu ice cream flavor was a tad sweet and the cappucino truffle was interesting.
The other flavors did pair well together, however, the ice cream melted rather quickly

Service was really good in the beginning prior to ordering with an attentive waiter, but upon ordering, our drinks were never filled up anymore.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Other)
